Madikan
So one thing that's really great about iTunes/Apple Music is that they make automatic playlists based on what you really like to listen to at the moment. On iOS devices it's called Favorites Mix and on computers it's called Genius playlists. The thing is (at least for Genius) that it doesn't need to be music that's on a streaming platform. It just analyses your own library of mp3's (assuming you have correct genre tags) and compares it with a database to make really nice playlists. Spotify also has that although it's called differently ("Weekly Listen" or something). Would it be realistic to have something similar for Poweramp/would it be feasible ? Thanks a lot ! Would you expect Poweramp to contact other services that already have information about the user's preferences ? flyingdutchman
The thing about Apple and smart playlists is that it has a) your library and b) a vast library with extended information that enables them to create these playlists. However, a third party does not have access to this extended database. Even if they had, submitting a song to some service would need to know the tracks you have on your device to enable it to create a smart playlist. Another case of Apple trying tell you what you should like or how you should do things? Personally, that sort of mentality is what I really dislike about the Apple way of doing things. My TiVo digital video box has a similar feature ("Suggestions") which is one of the first things I disabled when I got it. Just my opinion, but I generally know what I like and choose it myself. Madikan
Alright, I got carried away with databases and such but like an automatic playlist that tells you what songs you listen to the most at the moment ? Like "recently listened to" as opposed to recently added (so machine playlists that don't need the help of a database) Link to comment https://forum.powerampapp.com/topic/16212-add-a-favorites-mixgenius-playlist-style-feature/#findComment-68374 Share on other sites
