Default view for Folder Hierarchy as List Option

Dear Poweramp,

THE main reason I went with your app is that you allow users to view files in folder structure (not just tags). I spent hundreds of hours to organize my music into folders in the past 20 years.

Premise: I only wish to select Folder Hierarchy as a List Option, and I have one Music Folder dedicated to Music on my SD card.

Request: it would be great to have the default view skipping the List Options (only Folder Hierarchy enabled) and 1st folder selection (only Music parent folder containing all music album folders) and jump straight to listing my music subfolders.

It makes sense to show the screen of List options upon clicking on the 4square if more than one List Option is enabled, and, as a next step, to show multiple music folders if more than one Music Folder selected. However, the not-so-unique scenario I described for Folder Tree Structure only has one List Option (no point is showing that screen if you have only 1 option to proceed), and 1 parent Folder (no point in showing that screen if you have only 1 parent Music Folder selected in Settings).

Does that makes sense? Every time I wish to change music, I have to do 2 unnecessary clicks to reach my music.

Directly related to this, when I end up viewing my music subfolders, hundreds of them, it would be nice to land on the current / last played folder and not at the top of the list.. having to scroll down to where I was.

I appreciate your thoughts about this in advance.

Thank you.

Clicking in Album Art area indeed takes me up one level, swiping right / left in album art work goes to next / previous track.

The BACK button, however, exits the program hence was my question. I would expect the same action as clicking in Album Art area, i.e. take me up one level.

Thanks for all the guidance today!

Today is July 26, 2020 and I have the current paid version of Poweramp as of today. It is an awesome program, but I can't get it to do what I want. I have a new Samsung SM-T510 Android 10.1" Tablet.

When I play a song (or album), the proper playback screen comes up with album art and playback buttons. Looks great! It plays one or multiple songs and then stops when finished or you press Stop/Pause. It still displays that album.

What I am trying to figure out is when the selected program of music is finished (or I press Stop/Pause), I would like Poweramp to go back to the Artists library screen. That screen also has a bar at the bottom with the last track played, so if I wanted to go back, it is ready to press (that is great!). Currently the default is to stay on the screen of the last played track with the bar at the bottom having a Home button.

Is there a way to make Home (library Artist screen) the default after your selected tunes finish or you press stop?

Thanks, Bob

When PA pauses (or stops, which is really just pausing the current track back at 0:00) it remains in a paused state ready to recommence playback where it left off.

A minor bug (now fixed in build 879) meant that when a song ended due to a list finishing, it used to get into an odd state which would not resume playback easily. It now returns to the start of the final track played and enters Pause (Stop) mode ready to be played again.

You can tap the player-screen artwork area to see the current song in its current Library category, or long-press on the artwork area to choose to see it in a different view type (Folder, Album, etc).

You can use the four-squares icon (lower-left) to go to you chosen 'top-level' Library view - you can set that default view type to 'go straight to Artists' if you wish, in the Library's List Options (or Settings > Library > Lists > Library List Options).

Thanks for replying Andre!

I got what you described and think it is as close to ideal as currently attainable. If the programmer was willing to make a change (feature request), this is what I would like:

WHEN the song, album, playlist, or whatever ends, keep the Poweramp behavior as it is, BUT if the selection ends and there is no user interaction for 5 minutes, OR when you press Pause/Stop with a long press, Poweramp would go back to your home screen, in my case Artist library screen. (the Artist library screen still has the current song banner at the bottom, so if you did want to return later, it is still there)

I am new here. and really like the program so much I bought a dedicated tablet to host my music library and play it with Poweramp through a FLAC DAC. I have a very clean home screen with the Poweramp widget. It would also be nice for it to have the same feature I just requested.

Will the author see my request here? Thanks for listening,

Bob
