Sorting Artists etc.

Various audio file types (mp3, m4a, flac, etc.) allow for sorting tags such as ARTISTSORT, ALBUMARTISTSORT, ALBUMSORT, COMPOSERSORT. iTunes among other apps supply support for these tags so that sorting can be based on surname instead of name that makes more sense. Could this be applied to Poweramp?

Could support for the following tags be added:

Album Artist: For albums that should be listed under a different name than the artist on some or all of the tracks. For instance, a Syd Barrett compilation may have tracks by Pink Floyd and by Syd Barrett; the songs' "Artist" tags should have the correct respective artist, but the entire album should be shown as by Syd Barrett.

Compilation: For "Various Artists" releases. This would enable compilations to appear at the end of the album listing, showing "Various Artists" as the artist. It would also fix the related problem where if you now have two albums with the same name, they appear as one album in the album listing. This behavior would no longer be necessary if it only combined tracks that had the "Compilation" tag set.

Artist Sort and Album Artist Sort: So that artists can be sorted by last name.

Album Sort: Not as necessary as the others, but would still be useful in some instances.

Thanks!

In the library, I think the songs should be sorted by the TITLESORT tag.

Because chinese characters and symbols are not sorted correctly.

@maxmp There have been several threads started on the topic of expanding the library database to include the sort tags that are standard in iTunes and in use in many other desktop applications now. The Android music database currently ignores this tag. But since PA is already using a custom library, do you have any plans to implement them any time soon? This truly adds a benefit to browsing the library by last name, and provides a better, more consistent way to ignore the common prefixes like "A", "An", "The" and others. It also helps with libraries containing unrecognized characters and languages.

I am more than happy to share some files with sort fields that differ from the standard fields. My entire library is formatted with all artists showing First Name Last Name but browsing as Last Name, First Name.
