jumpingjackflash5
Hello, does current Poweramp support direct (without reencoding) AAC (e.g. iTunes ) files playback over headphones that support AAC codec? If so how it can be set up ? Jan Link to comment https://forum.powerampapp.com/topic/15031-bluetooth-aac/ Share on other sites
andrewilley
Not as far as I know, audio is always processed by PA before being output anywhere. Andre Link to comment https://forum.powerampapp.com/topic/15031-bluetooth-aac/#findComment-60619 Share on other sites
jumpingjackflash5
that is a pity, therefore aac files are reencoded again to sbc or aac (whatever headphones support) which degrades quality :( Link to comment https://forum.powerampapp.com/topic/15031-bluetooth-aac/#findComment-60625 Share on other sites
andrewilley
AAC doesn't do much for quality in the first place. I would have thought that directly passing a raw bitstream would prevent a whole load of PA's features from working (e.g. EQ/tone, crossfade, ReplayGain, etc) Andre Link to comment https://forum.powerampapp.com/topic/15031-bluetooth-aac/#findComment-60626 Share on other sites
jumpingjackflash5
Yes that is true that the EQ etc. settings can be very useful. On the other hand is would be nice to allow "bitperfect" playback of AAC through bluetooth. Direct AAC (e.g. from ITunes or encoded from FLAC) has decent quality.
