  1. iTunes supports these tags which it uses to sort Artists and Album Artists. That lets you sort an artist like "Sage Francis" by last name, under F, where he should be. So, great to have the option to use such tags for sorting.
  2. I have to say first off, I am NOT a fan of the new Poweramp. There was nothing wrong with the old software. If it isn’t broke, why fix (or in this case, break) it? So having spent a few days with it, I notice that the playlist settings are very broken. In the old system, I could reorder it with ease, and it stuck with that ordering. Now, it seems to do what it wants. Under old system – goto folders, select a folder, add to playlist. Go to playlists, find play list, select it, select options, resort, sort by album, click playlist – it starts playing, in album order. And it sticks to this order. Under new system - goto folders, select a folder, add to playlist. Go to playlists, find play list, select it, select options, resort, sort by album, click playlist – it starts playing, in album order. BUT, whilst the initial playing is in TRUE album order, if the playback is paused (say you turn off Bluetooth speaker, headset or switch off connected car), when it starts again, the order is changed and seems to have changed but takes off either numeric parts of albums, or is sorting it in track order, or is random. So an album of “21 dreams” now seems to be sorted with the other “d” albums (not at the front). Not sure what the order is, but it is no longer in the true album order first selected.

    A-Z column

Hello, Please add A to Z alphabets column at extreme right side of All Songs list. With such feature the music lover go to his fav song quickly. For example, if i click alphabet 'M' then i can find songs with 'M' quickly and enqueue it. Please see the pic I've attached and that is of another player so please add this feature.
  5. Hello, I am a happy user of this application but I miss some information concerning the setting: It is possible to sort the songs by year, well. But is it possible to display the year? This is an important option when you want to create lists devoted to certain periods. thank you for the answer
  6. There should be a "Sort by BPM" feature in the future updates so you can choose which songs to play next by the song BPM so you can mix more smoothly.
  7. Hallo, TL:DR; reverse sorting of albums when using reverse listing does not sort properly. I'm a big fan of listing/sorting albums based on the date the album was add to Poweramp. This works fine with these settings: The list is sorted without reverse, which means that newly added albums will be listed at the bottom. However, I would like to reverse this, so that the newly added albums are on top of the list. But this does not work. Here is what it looks like when the sorting is set to reverse: Bottom of list: Top of list: As you can see, it seems quite random as to how Poweramp sorts in reverse. I would expect it to just reverse the listing, but that does not happen. I think this bug is in v2 as well. P.s., want to dump this thread: Please respond to this request. This should be a simple fix, and it has been requested for 6 years now. Developer does not seem to have any answer to this very simple question.
  8. I just want to sort domain: albums by album artists and artists/artist albums by years, just like itunes, but I recently noticed that it's impossible to set the sorting options of each domain separately. when one of them is changed, the other one automatically follows it.

    Sort by LENGTH/DURATION

Having long tracks of 30mins< x of Lo-fi hip-hop, chillout lounge, dubstep mashups, used for studying, gym , walking, etc. instead of manually assigning them to a playlist with every new track, a new sorting method would be much appreciated. from longest to shrtst durations would allow for a better music flow, specially to be assigned on the Recently Added list and All Tracks. Thanks. GloriousCrown.
  10. Hi there, I've been using Poweramp full version for a few years. Recently formatted my device (Xiaomi MI5) and installed the latest lineageOS. As soon as I reinstalled Poweramp saw that the option to sort albums by year is missing as well as the option to edit the main menu. Usually I only put Artists and Albums there, I'm not interested in All Songs or Music Genre options. Please help, I'm going crazy here, have over 60 GB of music and it's really annoying not having the albums sorted chronologically. Thanks. PS. Poweramp rocks!
  11. My music is organized in folders. Great, because Poweramp can show my music by folders. but if I open a folder, the tracks are all sorted by the track title, not the file name. Not even by the track number in the ID3. The tracks are all out of order. Why not sort the songs in a folder by the FILE name, rather than the ID3 tag track title? or sort them by the track number, per the ID3? It literally makes zero sense to pick something that in no way signifies the track order when usually the track order is indicated by the FILE name or the track number. I've tried in vain to find a way to sort songs by file name, or sort them by track number, but all I get are the songs all listed in alphabetical order... Any help? Please tell me that somewhere there's a setting I've missed to use folders mode, but then have the songs follow the same logic as folders mode, i.e., listed by file name.
  12. Poweramp is my favorite mobile music player, but it lacks one thing that my favorite pc music player has. In foobar, I can sort my music anyway I want. For years, I've sorted my music by artist, with the songs underneath their name, like so: I may be the only person in the world who sorts their music library like this, but I'm already used to it. I also think that many other users will find the ability to change the way your library is viewed and layed out, will make the transition from their home music player, or another android one, to Poweramp much more comfortable. I've already tried finding other music players that allows for this level of customization, but there isn't any. Poweramp could be the first and only. I don't mind it being a pro feature.
  13. Is it possible to add a new option that lets you sort your songs according to date modified? For those who switch to a new phone or reinstalled Poweramp, the date added would be all the same so there isn't any sort of sorting done but the date modified would be able to check which song was last added to the SD card so the user would not have any problem finding which song was last added. oh wait... Poweramp already have this option inside folders and library > Lists

    Additional Metadata Options

I noticed that in the library menu, there was no option to sort songs by their year. Since the 'year' tag is defined for most MP3s, it would be a useful sorting option. Due to the lack of options in the meta display menu, I figured that the song's year, genre or track number tags could be offered as some of the options to display. For those of us who keep this option enabled, they would definitely add a small touch to the player UI. I've made some examples (using another skin): Year: Genre: Track:
  15. Would it be possible when sorting playlists to take into account the track number in relation to the album? Either by using the tag (if it's present), or maybe read the original filename? At present, I sort some of my playlists using the artist/album option, but then the tracks are only sorted in alphabetical order, rather than the order they actually are on the album.

    Sort Order

Hello, is it possible that with an new version the sort order of tracks depends now on the mp3 tags? Before it depends on the file name which is in my opinion much better. Or one should have the possibility if you want a sort order depending on mp3-tags or depending on filenames. KR Marco

    2nd level of sorting

Hello, Would it be possible to implement a second sorting level ? For example, if you use the List Options -> sort by popularity, and if you have not yet rated songs, the default sorting level is Alphabetic. If 2 songs have the same rating, alphabetic order is also the second sorting level. With a second sorting level, if 2 songs have the same rating (or no rating), the second level would permit to order songs as we want. It may also help some people to sort albums by artists and then per year. Poweramp is a very good player, keep developp it. Thanks, Donatien
  18. Is there a way to sort a play list by album and then by track number? It seems that all I can do is to sort by album and then the track gets sorted alphabetically. Ideas? Avi
  19. Hi there, I really like Poweramp but this is a thing that I am missing: Poweramp ignores prefixes like "A" or "The" in sorting the library. I think that is absolutely fine but it doesn't work in diferent languages. I have a few german bands in my library and prefixes like "Der", "Die" or "Das" (meaning "The") appear under D. That is a bit confusing. I think it might be a good idea to include some more common articles/prefixes by default and give the user the ability to customize a list of prefixes that should be ignored while sorting. EDIT: sorry clicked the submit button by exident. I hope I am not the only one who would like to see this feature in a future release. Thanks for your time.

    Sort by album artist

Sort by album artist would be great for compilations. I know there's the Albums by Artists, but this isn't really what I'm after. Also the option to select whether certain words are ignored in the sorting such as "a" and "the" at the start of artist names Cheers
  21. I would like to request that when viewing an album that is composed of 2 or more discs that all songs are properly tagged (in iTunes) with disc 1 of n, 2 of n, 3 of n, etc. That the songs when sorted by track number also take into account the disc number So instead of the songs being sorted 1. Disc 1 - Song 1 1. Disc 2 - Song 1 1. Disc 3 - Song 1 2. Disc 1 - Song 2 2. Disc 2 - Song 2 2. Disc 3 - Song 2 3. Disc 1 - Song 3 3. Disc 2 - Song 3 3. Disc 3 - Song 3 they sort properly as 1. Disc 1 - Song 1 2. Disc 1 - Song 2 3. Disc 1 - Song 3 1. Disc 2 - Song 1 2. Disc 2 - Song 2 3. Disc 2 - Song 3 1. Disc 3 - Song 1 2. Disc 3 - Song 2 3. Disc 3 - Song 3 Thank you if this would be possible for the next major release
  22. Hey, I recently switched to Android from Apple and one of the things I missed was the great music player Apple had. Thankfully Poweramp has provided another great way to listen to my music. I'm trying to customize it just like (or better) than Apple's player and one of the things I wish we can tweak is more sorting options for the "All Songs" list. Specifically it would be better if the words "A" and "The" can be skipped when sorting songs by alphabetical order. I think that's important because I find it easier to remember a song without the common "A" or "The" in front. Also can you please add an option to put numbered songs after "Z" on the list at the bottom. This is mostly a preference after being used to Apple, but it would be appreciated if I didn't have to adjust myself and just adjust my songs ahah Thanks!
  23. I would very much like to manually sort songs in each of my playlists. There are lots of auto sorting modes but not one that puts the songs in the order I want. I am a simple guy, in each playlist I would like my favorite song as the first one, at top of list, my second favorite song as the second one.....etc... and be able to move any song to a new spot in list manually. If there is already a way to do this I have missed it. I have PA 2.0.5 488 full I like PA, being able to manually sort my songs is my main request. Thanks
  24. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think this feature has been lost at some point. In "Library ==> Artists ==> <an artist> ==> All Artist Songs", I wish to have the list sorted/seperated by albums first, and then by track number within those albums. I think this used to be the default behaviour? I just changed to a new phone and I can't work out how to set it like that anymore. The closest I can seem to get is to sort by year (not ideal, sorts alphabetically after year), or to play individual albums with Poweramp set to advance through lists (also not ideal since I then can't loop just the list I want). Anyway thanks for listening, please correct me if I've just missed a setting somewhere! Apologies if this has already been mentioned somewhere!
