So, in my audio class, i'm learning that most modern recording is done in 88.2kHz, or 176.4kHz. These are multiples of 44.1kHz, and thus cross-sampling will not occur when exporting to red-book cd format. Even on a 192kHz DAC, cross-sampling still occurs with 44.1, 88.2 and 176.4 files because 192kHz is not in the red-book cd family of sample rates (multiples of 44.1kHz). I'm almost positive that most of the recent DACs (external, and built in) out there are capable of supporting these sample rates.
