    Top Rated in Library

One of the users of my app was confused that the totals in Top Rated did not reconcile with those actually held in the pa database. To illustrate, Poweramp shows: : but when running New Playlist Managers, Rating criteria the following shows: which is confirmed when running an sql statement against the same database: Question: what does the Top Rating represent?

    Music playing too fast

Hello, Yesterday I purchased a ZTE Zfive GLTE smart phone. I tried downloading music but the native app said that it would not play that format. I then went and download the app Poweramp. The music downloaded but it plays too fast. It does not matter if it is in mp3, m4a, or wma format. Any idea of what is causing this. It could just be the phone. It is really low end. Liz
  3. I am using the app for years now, and I am very sattisfied with the product. However since a couple of days ago, the track order was messed up in quite an eratic way. With eratic, I mean behaviour different from album to album behaviour different from try to try (especially, when rebuilding the library between trys) sequence of track listing different from order in which the tracks are played no pattern visible To rule out, that my library was simply to big (ca 17000 songs on the phone), I deleted all music and put 3 albums freshly on the phone: 2 Operas with 3 CDs each and 1 Audiobook with 10 CDs. Behaviour now: behaviour is consistent now (compare above) tracks are not replayed in order defined by the TRACK tag, but in lexical order of the TITLE tag TRACK tags are recognised as they are shown in app (INFO/TAGS section) Tagging is done with freeware mp3tag (has been working fine in the past years) Questions: Is there a way to tell, when the libraty is becoming too big, are there known limits (number of albums, number of titles etc.) Is there a way to tell the app, wether you want the tracks in lexical order of the TITLE tags and how to turn this off? Any further idea (other than re-tagging thousands of files) Kind Regards Stefan:
  4. Hello, I am looking for some help building a music play list. I want to be able to take my new Motorola Android phone on the beach, and play music on my new bluetooth speaker, without streaming (because I do not want to use my data allotment). I want it kept local. I need help building the playlist on my desktop computer. What I would like to do is convert all of my YouTube songs I have in a desktop file folder to mp3 files (I think I want mp3 format - I would take suggestions for other format - also, if anyone can suggest a YouTube converter that is decent, I would welcome that recommendation.) Once I have playlist built, I need help on converting that playlist on the desktop, over to the Motorola Android phone, where I intend to purchase Poweramp. Thanks a million for any help. - Mark
  5. Hi, Am happy owner of an HTC M9 with a separate 128GB microSD card (SanDisk Ultra®micro SDHC™/micro SDXC™ UHS-I Card) where all my MP3 are stored (about 15'000 MP3's in total). However, Poweramp seems to struggle a lot accessing the songs / struggles to stop playing, resume playing, etc... Typically, I can move back and forth 5 songs in the (random) playlist, but anything after that produces no results, i.e. Poweramp needs at least 1 minute to pull itself together again and then works normally. Have Android v 5.1 installed / HTC Sense 7.0. Not sure if it's an Android / HTC (hardware) Issue or a Poweramp issue ... Cheers

  7. Like the dozens of enthusiastic people asking for DLNA support, I want to stream from a portable device (a tablet I purchased solely to be a Poweramp dedicated mp3 player) to my stereo. It is possible that Bluetooth, not DLNA, is the answer. As interested readers know, DLNA is a wireless standard capable of the transmission of audio from portable devices to WiFi receivers at CD levels of fidelity. Poweramp does not support DLNA, but some people have succeeded in connecting it to Audio Cast via BubbleUPnP in a rooted phone. (I have succeeded in doing that with an HP Touchpad running Cyanogenmod and Android KitKat, but this setup does not work acceptably for me because, even without wireless transmission, Poweramp stops playing every few hours, which does not meet my needs. And, yes, I have turned off all the likely features causing this such as gapless processing and fading.) I want to make a system that works on a Dell tablet with Android/KitKat. To use Poweramp in this case requires rooting the tablet. This I have been unable to do, and do not want to do because it is not sustainable through OS updates. Also, my WiFi seems to occasionally cause another trial system I am using (n7player using Toaster Cast) to stop playing every few hours or less, despite careful reconfiguration of the channel used by the WiFi router to avoid interference with the DLNA machine that is configured as another network. So I am anxious to try the Bluetooth alternative. Bluetooth has an available bit rate well in excess of the bit rate of any mp3 files--it is about 1 MB/s, while mp3s usually go no higher than 320 kb/s. So if the transmitter (Poweramp and the Dell tablet) is willing to send the mp3 files, and the receiver is willing to receive them, Bluetooth should be good. What we need is 1) a Bluetooth standard that supports this concept, 2) a Bluetooth receiver that supports it, and 3) Poweramp, combined with my tablet, that supports it. Bluetooth does support it. I am pretty sure that most $20 Bluetooth receivers do not, but I have found at least two that do: Nyrius Songo HiFi Wireless Bluetooth aptX Music Receiver ($50) and Audioengine B1 ($190). There is an article that addresses the issue but suggests that Poweramp and my tablet will not do their part in this coordination: You may be familiar with prolific and well-respected audio journalist Brett Butterworth. He wrote, "If both the source device (your phone, tablet or computer) and the destination device (the wireless receiver or speaker) support a certain codec, then material encoded using that codec does not have to have the extra layer of data compression added. Thus, if you're listening to, say, a 128 kbps MP3 file or audio stream, and your destination device accepts MP3, Bluetooth does not have to add an extra layer of compression, and ideally results in zero loss of quality. However, manufacturers tell me that in almost every case, incoming audio is transcoded into SBC, or into aptX or AAC if the source device and the destination device are aptX or AAC compatible." You can find the whole article here: Comparing AirPlay, Bluetooth, DLNA, Play-Fi, Sonos and More Comparing AirPlay, Bluetooth, DLNA, Play-Fi, Sonos and M... A comparison of AirPlay, Bluetooth, DLNA, Play-Fi and Sonos wireless audio technologies View on stereos.about.com Preview by Yahoo The reasons why include adding beeps for your phone, and using the volume control on the phone or tablet...to say nothing of the equalizer available in Poweramp. In Poweramp promotional material here: http://powerampapp.com/features/ ...is the inference that the audio can stay in mp3 form even as Poweramp runs its equalizer. Under the "Equalizer and Tone" heading is this: "works for any supported format and for bluetooth A2DP headset" (A2DP is the transmission standards that deal with negotiating format between the transmitter and the receiver). So, my questions are: 1. Is the transmission of Bluetooth signals a function of the operating system or the app or both? 2. Can, or does, Poweramp act to allow direct transmission of mp3 files from the player via Bluetooth to a compatible receiver?

How should I organize my music?

How should I organize my music using Poweramp for Android? I have a music collection in FLAC that I'd like to put on my phone (Samsung Galaxy S3). I would like convert the format to either .wma or .mp3. But how should I organize the folders and files? And should I include a CUE or m3u files? I tried putting the flac to my external SD card. And I have the music organized in folders like this... The Beatles / The Beatles - Rubber Soul - (1965) / 01 - Song Name.mp3(or .flac) Inside the "The Beatles - Rubber Soul - (1965)" folder (which contains the songs) what tags need to be in there? Currently everything is showing up as Unknown Artist. Also if I'm going to convert my FLAC's to mp3 and go through all this I'd want to have this organization and tagging work in any mp3 player.

    Custom Ringtone Selector/Picker

I installed Poweramp today because I am using Cyanogenmod 9 on my phone and was trying to find a better tool to pick ringtones. I just wanted to say that if Poweramp had been an option to select ringtones versus the AndroidSystem app, I would have bought it. Please consider making Poweramp able to select ringtones. This way when I set notifications for labels in gmail, I could have used Poweramp to select an MP3 track instead of the default .ogg files located in system/media/audio/ringtones Thanks
