  1. So, I've said about this here and there already but I decided to make a topic here on the bug reports. Basically, Poweramp doesn't seem to care about WavPack files (.wv) with higher sample rate than 88,2kHz. I didn't tested this on Poweramp V2 yet but, the V3 betas/alphas, since the 790, for some reason doesn't add WavPack files to the library... But Poweramp can play them. If you go to where the file is with a file explorer, and try to open it with Poweramp (sometimes it can take more than one or two tries), Poweramp play the file normally, and show all the info, like tags, the file type, the profile, data rate... But as soon as the song ends, the player just refreshes itself and go to the "all songs" tab, and the WavPack file vanishes again. Something weird I noticed is, I have one album that is on WavPack+cue, and it is 32-192. That single album, Poweramp adds to the library. After this I tried tons of different programs, configs, profiles, different ways to make WavPack files, and as soon as the sample rate go beyond 88,2kHz, the file is not added to the library. It also seems to work with embedded cue sheet files, but as was said, as soon as this file is beyond 88,2kHz, it's not added to the library anymore. Now about the DSD part, one thing is: Poweramp seems to work wonderfully with up to DSD128, beyond that, like DSD256 for example, it's not added to the library and if you try opening it with some external app, it also don't work. Not really a bug report I think, more of some compatibility issue maybe. The other thing is: since WavPack 5, it got the ability of compressing and carrying DSD files on a lossless (and even reversible) way, which seems to work normally with players that supports this feature. And, yeah, Poweramp doesn't support WavPack files which carries a DSD stream on it. This is more of a report for a, maybe future update to add support to it, not exactly a bug report. But with the very nice hi-res capabilities of Poweramp as a player, it's indeed something to consider. LG G7 ThinkQ, Stock LG UI ROM with Android 8.0.0, no root. By the time of this comment, build 805 of Poweramp is used.
  2. Files with the extension aac are not scanned by the library scanner. When loading those files from a file manager they play fine in Poweramp. Poweramp v2.0 does the job quite well. 08 - Midnight Juggernauts - Scorpius.aac Tested in build 799 and earlier.
  3. I just purchased Poweramp and am on beta-build-796-play. I noticed a really annoying bug. I often download music to my internal storage (music folder) and then copy those files to my music folder on my external SD card. It's just sometimes, the new tracks just flat out won't show up. I have triple-checked that those folders are ticked properly. Another curious case is I move the music to another subfolder in the same music folder, it suddenly recognizes the tracks, from there on I can again move the files over to the original location and it works fine most of the time. Example for clarity - Let's say I downloaded a track to internal/music/artist/, then moved artist folder (yes the whole artist folder) to external/music/rock/ so that the tracks are in external/music/rock/artist. I start up Poweramp, scan library but the track doesn't appear. I then move the artist folder to external/music and voila, the track shows up like it should. Now I can move the folder back to external/music/rock/ and it will still work (most times at least). I have tried some common things I could think of including Full Rescan but even that doesn't fix it. Weird. Hope I can find some solution to this problem. EDIT: I tested out various scenarios and this bug seems to occur when when the file is located in external SD card. Basically the first time you copy a file to your SD card the scanner doesn't see the file, but if you move the file around in the SD card then the scanner starts working as it should. Hope this helps E2: Apparently you don't need to necessarily move the files actually, just renaming the files or containing folder does the job. Cheers!
  4. When I'm in a Library folder like Albums or Folders there are two buttons, play in shuffle and play and I don't know if this is a bug or if this could be a feature, but what about letting it play in order if I press play and when I click shuffle it should play the selected in shuffle mode. For now it plays tracks in random mode, if this was my last mode, after I clicked on the play Icon. The screenshot shows the Icons I am talking about, hope it's clear enough what I meant. I'm using the beta-build-795-play (full Version) on my Huawei P20 Pro Android v8.1.0

    AVRCP Media Browsing

AVRCP Media Browsing would be great for v3, other players in the play store already have this support for cars and it's really useful as you can pick songs directly from the car stereo system without touching the phone. A good example is playerpro that has full Media Browsing support.
  6. Hi Max. I think it's better to separate the artist and genre tags by the delimiter characters ";" and "/". For example Artists Tags:Artist 1; Artist 2 Shown as "Artist 1 Artist 2" with the current method but should shown separate. So if you search by Artist 1 to find all the track that he has and not the "Artist 1 Artist 2" tracks. The same for the genres. I edit all my tracks (over 7000) one by one with all the tags organized with MusicBee Music Player on PC. If you want you can try it to see what I mean with the tags separately recognized. Also is the default separation method for Windows file manager and every major windows music music manager. I own almost every major music player on the android universe and none do this right. For obvious reasons I use Poweramp for years now and I just can't switch it because is the best android music player out there. Now with the new v3 build became the best of the best. Worth every dollar I spent because (actually I buy it twice from play store and from your site to support the development). I really hope to take my recommendation as a future library organization method because I think is the best way to organize the tracks without compromises. Thank's in regards.

  8. The Problem: Wenn Browsing for Artists in the Library while having more than a few compliation albums you have a high number of entries which is no fun to browse. We end up with something like 500 artists and i only have a few which have more than a few songs. Now i want to browse through them and see what artist i want to listen to today. The proposed solution: a) Provide an option under "Library">"Artists" that allows for artist filtering "4 or more songs". Either as selectable filter or as entry under Options/Settings>"Folders and Library">"Lists": "Only show Artists with more than xy Songs und Artists" either boolean on off or a field to set the amount that filters. Filtering artists with albums or only search for full albums is not going to help this problem. A Playlist that uses only songs from artists with xy songs is not helping as well since there is no nice way to browse the artists then when you have your library dominated by some genre and therefor the playlists consists half of artist ABC. If you know of an other workaround i'd be glad to apply it. So far i didn't get this set up satisfyingly. ANWAYS, great app and it was the first one i bought. No regrets. Thx for all the work that was put in the development.
  9. I've noticed I'm missing music. My SD card gets unmounted from time to time for no apparent reason and I'm wondering if that would cause this issue or not? Like does it delete the file on the SD card or is it just Poweramp not being able to recognize it? This comes up when I press full rescan.
  10. For the new version please add 'Artist Albums´ to the Library list, to make compilation albums, multiple artists, etc, more clearer. Current and feature* selections: Artists -> Shows the artist and songs where the artist is included in the metatag 'Artist'. Albums by Artist -> Shows albums where the artist is included in the metatag ''Artist', and the headline is the album. *Artist Albums -> Shows albums where the artist is included in the metatag ''Album Artist', and the headline is the artist (if no 'Album Artist' then 'Artist' is used) Thanks
  11. Hello. Now my music library looks pretty like this. And I want to be able to see for example album year and some other info in those 2 lines under albums cover. Thanks for the response in advance!
  12. Been using Poweramp for some years now on a range of different devices, and it is still the most solid music player available on the play store. There is one feature that I miss however, and that is to reduce the size of the album covers in grid view to allow view more than four albums to be presented at the same time. I have a somewhat large music collection on my device, and even when I'm using genre filtering it is kinda tedious to browse through 50+ albums when only four are shown at once. Allowing to increase the grid size to six or something in the width, would make it much more comfortable to browse when you have a lot of albums. I make a quick illustration in paint using screenshots to visualize what four albums in a row would look like.
  13. Hi! I would like to see sorting method like 'By filepath' in 'List Options' of 'Library' view. So I can get list of all songs sorted by folder structure. E.g. ../Music/Artist/Album/Song.mp3 Currently 'Library' view can sort by filename, skipping parent folders, and songs are mixed up. For example: ../Music/Metallica/1986 - Master Of Puppets/01 - Battery.mp3 ../Music/Metallica/1984 - Ride The Lightning/01 - Fight Fire With Fire.mp3 ../Music/Metallica/1983 - Kill'em All/01 - Hit The Lights.mp3 ../Music/Killswitch Engage/2000 - Killswitch Engage/01 - Temple from the Within.mp3 ../Music/Metallica/1983 - Kill'em All/02 - The Four Horsemen 'Folders' view has this kind of sorting, but it can't display all songs in the list. It has 'Hierarchy' (with actual full hierarchy) and 'List/Grid' for most inner subfolder (e.g. album subfolder of an artist parent folder in my folders structure) for 'View as" which aren't useful for me. I know I can achieve what I want using playlists, but I need to recreate list every time I add new songs, which is inconvenient. Alternatively wanted behavior can be achieved adding something like 'All files' in 'View as' option of 'List Options' of 'Folders' view. Thanks!
  14. Audio Quality such as shown in the now playing section could be shown in the Library / List section for easily sorting library. such as flac 16-bit 37mB This would really help in situation where there are duplicates of different qualities and selecting the best quality without opening info everytime.

    Library improvement

I've been using the Premium version of Poweramp on Xiaomi Redmi 4A for a year now and I'd like to suggest a few things that I'd like to see fixed/added next time. Thanks! Identical names. For example, you have a few records called "Demo" in your library, the app will list them all only under one name and that means that the tracks from different albums will get mixed up in one list. What I would like to see is "Artist 1 - Demo; Artist 2 - Demo; Artist 3 - Demo" in my library. Also, there's just this weird thing that Poweramp chooses one artist randomly for a compilation or a split record. Take the singles compilation by The Specials for instance, it mainly has songs listed under The Specials and the last 4 songs are released under The Special A.K.A., so in the library for some reason the album is listed only under The Special A.K.A. I think it could use the slash symbol like this "The Specials / The Special A.K.A.", that would work greatly with split releases especially. No albums differentiation in a playlist. Now this one really bothers me. Sometimes I just want to play an artist's discography and instead of playing one album after another the way they're placed alphabetically, it plays every song alphabetically. Yeah, you can play one album and then put the others in the queue, but wouldn't it be easier just to play the artist's discog in two touches? Clearing queue. Not that it's very important, but it seems kinda redundant to me that you have to clear the queue each time it's done playing. Why can't it just clear itself or don't add up at all and work as a playlist for a moment? Once again I really hope you won't brush this off and work on these little things. I'm just looking for the best app and you have a chance to be one.

    Root access

In the FAQ concerning external SD suppoprt, it says "At this moment, we don't have requests for allowing root to the music app, as Poweramp, but if we get more requests, we can add this." I'm here to formally request this. I have a wireless SD card mounted as a CIFS share mounted in a /mnt folder, since mounting it to /sdcard/[whatever] does funny things with the way mounting is implemented in Android, like only certain things can see it. Poweramp did see it for a bit, but unless I'm on a fresh reboot and everything, it doesn't. Root Explorer can see the contents, but any other app it just shows up as empty. Mounting to a global root folder like /mnt/externalsd works much better, as everything can (potentially) see it. I'd love to see the ability to browse root folders to add to the library in Poweramp. I'm almost desperate -- if there's any way to compensate for this, like a nice donation, I'm willing to do so for this feature, as no one else seems to have it. VLC is indexing my library right now but it's still in beta so it's not going to be great, I can already tell. Thanks for your work!
  17. Hallo, TL:DR; reverse sorting of albums when using reverse listing does not sort properly. I'm a big fan of listing/sorting albums based on the date the album was add to Poweramp. This works fine with these settings: The list is sorted without reverse, which means that newly added albums will be listed at the bottom. However, I would like to reverse this, so that the newly added albums are on top of the list. But this does not work. Here is what it looks like when the sorting is set to reverse: Bottom of list: Top of list: As you can see, it seems quite random as to how Poweramp sorts in reverse. I would expect it to just reverse the listing, but that does not happen. I think this bug is in v2 as well. P.s., want to dump this thread: Please respond to this request. This should be a simple fix, and it has been requested for 6 years now. Developer does not seem to have any answer to this very simple question.
  18. new device: Samsung Galaxy Tab S3, Android 7, pa alpha 703 1- in library, sorted for artists: albums with album artist (like VA, various artists,..) tagged so differing from track artist, there is title shown instead of artist 2-while playing title X and looking in library/orders for another track Y, choosing info/tags and than "album art" bottom left, album art of played title X is shown - instead of title Y. sorry, no native English, if I'm not understood I'll make screenshots... regards, mike BTW german translation often showing english
  19. I know that playing songs from Google Play Music, Spotify, Apple Music, etc... could be difficult (or even ilegal). But Google Play Music have a 50.000 size personal songs library where you can upload your "own" songs. It would be really great to can play that songs from Poweramp. I think Poweramp is the best player, but nowadays nobody have all its songs library downloaded in the smartphone (I don't have any), we use any of that streaming services and personally that option with GPlay Music could be the perfect combination to still use Poweramp every day.
  20. Instant crash on library open LS990 Paranoid Android 6.0.1 latest version downloaded from website not Google play. GP version doesn't work either. Please help... logcat_and_device_info.zip
  21. Hi. I rip my large CD collection to play on my phone. I want to see my CD's from Artist, then Albums, then Songs, very standard usage. The problem is that when songs have different artists or co-artists like in a compilation, then the artists names are all over the place and not together in the album. That can be solved by using the Folders view instead of Library. But the bad effect is the artist list is bulky with an ugly empty folder icon for all. That's a quick and unambitious solution for a large app like Poweramp. I can't be the only one ripping CD's wanting to see the albums correctly without having to move Artist->Comment AlbumArtist->Artist. The right solution is an option to have the Library view list by "Album Artist" instead of "Artist". This is very easy to implement ... please! NB: Please explain why I feel alone in the world with this wish - no player I have tried have solved the issue properly, some can't even grasp the problem when asked. I'm sure you can §:o)
  22. When scanning my music folder *.aac files are not scanned and/or added into the library. In version 2 this works correctly. Playing those raw aac files directly (via file explorer) works fine, even album art is loading.

    Network-based Music Library

Please provide explicit instructions for playing music from a library hosted on network attached storage. This music is accessible through programs, but they don't support apple lossless encoding, as Poweramp does.
  24. Hi there! My second feature request, which I think would be very useful for people having multiple languages in their music library. Currently Poweramp ignores "the" and "a", if I recall correctly, when sorting the library. Well, that doesn't work for other languages so the final sorting can be confusing for people with more than one language in music titles, artists, etc. Moreover, people like me prefer to take ALL prefixes into account when sorting, I don't mind having all the "The" artists together because I find them faster that way. To make things worse, this ignoring of prefixes only happens when showing albums and artists, but not for songs, which makes sorting quite confusing and unpleasant to use. So, Max, could you please make the list of prefixes configurable and allow it to be empty (so no prefixes are ignored when sorting if the user wants it that way). Of course, if this can already be done in the settings, could somebody point me to the proper place? I can't find it! Thanks a lot!!
  25. Poweramp is my favorite mobile music player, but it lacks one thing that my favorite pc music player has. In foobar, I can sort my music anyway I want. For years, I've sorted my music by artist, with the songs underneath their name, like so: I may be the only person in the world who sorts their music library like this, but I'm already used to it. I also think that many other users will find the ability to change the way your library is viewed and layed out, will make the transition from their home music player, or another android one, to Poweramp much more comfortable. I've already tried finding other music players that allows for this level of customization, but there isn't any. Poweramp could be the first and only. I don't mind it being a pro feature.
