  1. hi.... i just want to say thanks to the devs here for making such an amazing audio experience i just noticed that stars ratings from id3 tags are not displayed in Poweramp,it is like Poweramp has its own rating data??is there an option for this i missed?i rate my music library in windows and i want to see it in Poweramp and vice versa.
  2. Tags / Metadata Metadata is extra information about a song, stored as hidden computer-readable data within an audio file. This is independent of the filename or folder location - the data is stored inside the file as individual embedded 'tags'. Some tags are technical specs such as encoding methods and duration, while others contain things like the Title of each song or are used organise your music into various categories for easier viewing and access - such as Albums, Artists, Years, etc. Some commonly used tags are: Song Title [TIT2 / TITLE] Artist [TPE1 / ARTIST] Album Title [TALB / ALBUM] Album Artist [TPE2 / ALBUMARTIST] Genre [TCON / GENRE] Track Number [TRCK / TRACKNUMBER] Disc Number for multi-disc sets [TPOS / DISCNUMBER] Year [TYER / DATE] Composer [TCOM / COMPOSER] Lyrics (not synced) [USLT / LYRICS] Comment (not used by Poweramp, but can be displayed) [COMM / COMMENT] Length (ms) [TLEN] Replay Gain [TXXX:REPLAYGAIN_**** / REPLAYGAIN_****] Album Cover (image) [APIC / METADATA_BLOCK_PICTURE] The contents of the Album Artist tag are sometimes the same as the track Artist, but can also be more general such as "Various Artists" for a compilation album. An Album Artist tag is necessary to ensure that all of the songs within one album get grouped together correctly, even if the individual track artists may be different - such as in a collection or compilation album. It's a good idea to always include an Album Artist tag anyway, even when the contents happen to be the same as the track Artist. From build 899 onward, Poweramp can separate and sort songs using multiple Artist names - e.g. "Under Pressure" could be listed as being by "David Bowie ; Queen" and it would be shown in the Artist listings for David Bowie and also for Queen. This feature can be used for Artists / Album Artists, Composers, and Genres (e.g. a genre could be listed as "New Wave ; Electronic ; New Romantic"). You can even define your own symbols or words to be used as separators via PA Settings > Library > Scanner, but semicolon ";" , slash "/" or double-slash "//" are common ones. You can also specify certain terms that you never want to be split - e.g. "AC/DC". If you don't wish to use this feature, simply leave the relevant options blank. You can view any tags contained within a song file by long-pressing on the song title in a library list, or long-pressing on the cover artwork in the player screen, and selecting 'Info/Tags'. You can also edit some tags by tapping 'Edit Tags'. For more in-depth editing, or changing groups of file contents at the same time, it would be better to utilise a full-featured batch tagging program such as TagScanner or MP3Tag on a PC, or AutoTagger on Android. Technical note: MP3 files usually use the ID3 tagging format (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ID3) while FLAC files use the Vorbis system (see https://www.xiph.org/vorbis/doc/v-comment.html). Both methods contain broadly the same information but indexed slightly differently, as annotated above. APE is another, slightly less common, tagging method. Poweramp can read any of these tagging systems. Completely untagged files will be displayed using their filenames, and you can organise them by folder locations. CUE sheets (and do I need them?) CUE sheets are plain text files (with the filename extension ".CUE") which contain extra information about songs - mostly just simple details like the filename, Title, Artist, Album, etc. They are detected and read automatically by Poweramp's music scanner. For more information on the CUE format, see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cue_sheet_(computing) . They broadly work in two ways: CUE files often point to one very large disc image file - such as an entire ripped CD - and they serve to provide index points to determine which sections of the file need to be separated into individual songs. When Poweramp reads this sort of CUE file it creates a 'pseudo folder' which contains all of the individual songs, and it also places these songs inside their relevant Album, Artist, etc categories. This kind of CUE file is important and should always be copied along with the large audio file, otherwise you will only see one very big song rather than any individual tracks. If for some reason you would like to see those large overarching files though, you can enable Settings > Library > Lists > Show CUE Disc Image Files. Note: it is possible, although not common, for CUE data to be embedded inside FLAC audio files directly, rather than requiring a separate sidecar file. Sometimes CD ripping software generates multiple audio files, one for each song, but it still creates a reference CUE file which points to each of those audio files in turn. This type of CUE file is redundant, as the individual songs will already be scanned and added to Poweramp's Library anyway, based on their embedded tag data. It's probably better to delete this type of CUE file manually. If you never wish to use CUE sheets at all, but you don't want the hassle of deleting unnecessary files, you can prevent the scanner from checking them by disabling Settings > Library > Scanner > Parse CUE Files.
  3. Hello, I would like to be able to make PA ignore articles in other languages such as Las Los Les Der Die Das etc. Logitech Media Service provides an option for that that is easily configurable. It shouldn't be hard to do. There have been respective request in the past which obviously have remained unheard.
  4. I have a hundred different groups. Many of them I have a hundred tracks. But I can't edit tags for many songs at once. So I create a lot of playlists, for example: "Trash Metal", "Alternative", "Death Metal", "80s". Although there is a genre button, but in the tags I have no genres, or they are listed incorrectly. So, I would like to choose several music groups as an example: Metallica, Megadeath, Exodus, Slayer etc. Select edit tags, and specify the genre that will be recorded in the tags of all songs in all groups. The same could be done with albums by selecting several albums of one year, and specify this year there, which will be recorded in all the songs of each of the albums.
  5. Hi. @maxmp I think it would be really cool if you could implement lyrics icon or tag in library lists. Lyrics icon will be really useful to know which song has embedded lyrics. I've included screenshot to show you what I mean. Basically what I'm asking for is a lyrics icon which shows whether the song has lyrics or not. Thank you.
  6. I listen to rap music and most of my music is in the form of mixtapes. Many of which have a DJ and quite a few have multiple DJs. As there isn't a "Disc Jockey" tag, I add them to the Composer tag. I'd appreciate being able use symbols (semicolons [ ; ], etc.) to separate multiple entries within the Composer tag, the same as can be done with the "Genre" tag. Thank you.
  7. Hello, So I have a bunch of albums I constantly go over through the Poweramp albums feature, which I like quite a lot and prefer over the folders view. However, recently I started downloading singles and they are such a pain to organize! They all appear in the albums view even though there's only one song. As there was apparently no way to change this, I decided to change the album of all the singles to a dummy album I named "singles". However, this solved nothing as now even though they appear in the same album they are all split by artist! I've read about this issue before and the solution given was to change the "Artist" tag to something along the lines of "Various"... But I REALLY don't want to do that as I would want to keep that info. I just want the album view to understand that and treat all of these songs as belonging to the same one. I've already tried playing with the "Join albums" in list settings but they seem to do nothing Here I'm posting an image from my current albums view: Is there any way to solve this? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  9. Hi, i am a huge Poweramp fan , and a hardcore fan of Poweramp radio steaming. I own the website http://freeradiolinks.wordpress.com i am thinking about a new feature for Poweramp streaming. i listen to radio continuously on Poweramp.sometimes i want to recall the tracks i have listened earlier. So I am thinking whether you guy's could include a feature which record the music tag played as history for later use. Radio URL's for Poweramp
  11. I have no idea how to post anything properly on here. I've just downloaded the latest version and it doesn't work. I get a message saying " doesn't look like anything" and a permanently spinning disk. Doesn't recognise my existing music folders and also says something like " failed too many times". My earlier version worked perfectly. Any ideas why it won't work?
  12. I'd like to be able to add multiple, separate composers to the composer tag, like hiw you can with genres. I don't listen to classical/orchestral music so, I don't know if this is a weird request or not. I listen to rap music & much of library is mixtapes that have DJs, often more than 1. I use the composer tag to add the DJs to the to the song info. Thank you.
  13. Hi, during I play an audio stream, or Playlist I am listening alot of unheard songs, so i was thinking about a feature which could convert music tags into audio and announce it during song change. I can't every time check phone just to find the artist name. This feature would be really helpful for less phone usage
  14. I'm having an issue while adding whole new songs into my phone. The Poweramp will recognize these but their tags won't appear until I reboot my phone and do full rescan entire storage. Do you know what's going on there? This is my problem looks like: And this is after reboot + full rescan:
  15. if it possible, it could be useful because some of tracks have more than one artist in one tag on their song (such as artist names separated by the word "feat.", commas, etc.) I have several vocaloid songs in which the artist's tag contains the name of the author / composer accompanied by the name of the singer. I find it hard to play songs with the same composer at once because I have to make a playlist to combine all tracks into one. thanks for advance.
  16. Whenever I have an album name with the format *.* Poweramp seems to overwrite the artist name with this same tag. Example. Correct tag: Artist: Singer Person / Album: awesome.com will display on Poweramp as: Artist: awesome.com / Album: awesome.com. I do not have this issue on any other player. Sorry if this issue has been brought up, but when I searched the forum it was difficult to find and specify.
  17. Hi there! It would be nice if we could select multiple files in the library and edit their metadata in a single operation. Thanks! PS. Awesome product btw :)
  18. In v3 808 a composer tag is used, but if I have several composers per track separated by ; PA reads only the last one. Is there any possibility to display all the tags, creating a separate entry for each composer in the composers' list?
  19. Hi, I've been using Poweramp for years now mostly with the same collection of music. I recently purchased and downloaded some new songs and thought I would update my library with those songs. So I transferred them to my phone and then used the rescan library functionin Poweramp. Some of the songs show the album art and tag info, but quite a few of them do not. A lot of the songs in my library show the song title, but no album art and the artist is listed as "unknown artist," and the album is listed as "unknown album." I'm slightly perplexed, as I verified the tags are correct on my computer and then also verified the same thing for my phone by using the view folder interface from my phone's corded connection to my laptop. I also opened up Google Play and looked at my library in there and all the tags and album art are displaying correctly. This issue seems to be specific to Poweramp. I've seen some other topics with this issue, but I couldn't find any resolution. I'm using an HTC 10 with Android 8.0.0. Any assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Edit: My album art is all embedded, I don't use the download album art function.
  20. On my PC Foobar2000 easily allows me to manage my music library with multiple fields (genres, artists) with ";" (and/ora "\\"). The problem is that, on Poweramp, only the first tag is recognized within the player (ie: "Imagine Dragons; Kygo" automatically becomes Imagine Dragons, leaving behind the second "Artist" field). I tried both with ";" and "\\" separator, nothing changes and if I try to tag the file directly from Poweramp I end up with a new single "Artist" field with the entire string I just entered ("Imagine Dragons; Kygo" thus completely ruining the purpose of my intention and leading me with a new entry under "Artist", in the library navigation tab. Please ! Please add multiple artists/genres tag support and a good way to manage them, it would allow us to organize efficiently our collections and would be really appreciated ! 😃
  21. Hello, one feature Poweramp should have is the ability to identify and display advisory tags (explicit 🅴, clean) in the player and when searching for songs and/or albums.
