  1. I've come across a weird artifact/bug concerning albums where different tracks on the album are performed by different artists and the Album Artist is a different name, say "Various Artists". If I access the album through the Album Artist category and then "Various Artists", all tracks (and the album itself, obviously) are displayed with their artist as "Various Artists", whereas if I access the same album through the Album category, the tracks now have the correct associated Artist against them; however, the Album Artist is not "Various Artists" but the Artist that happens to be assocaited with the first track (e.g. "The Definitive Burt Bacharach Songbook" is shown as being by Dusty Springfield because she performs "The Look Of Love" on track 1 - all tracks have the Album Artist tag set to "Various Artists"). My current version info is the following but the bug may have been present in previous versions without me noticing: Version Info ====================== Build: Poweramp build-911-arm64-play full verified cached Store: Play Unlocker: build-302 Arch: 64 Skin: ActivityTheme_Black Device: Xiaomi Redmi Note 8T willow willow willow_eea [arm64-v8a, armeabi-v7a, armeabi] Installer: com.android.vending (26.7.16-21 [0] [PR] 390726529) Android: 10 xiaomi/willow_eea/willow:10/QKQ1.200114.002/V12.0.4.0.QCXEUXM:user/release-keys en_GB
  2. Often when I want to play all my songs by an artist, I want to hear them in the order they were released. In other words, I want to hear the 1983 album: track 1, track 2, track 3... followed by the 1985 album: track 1, track 2, track 3... etc. Unfortunately, when I sort All Artist Songs by year, the tracks on each album are sorted alphabetically within each year (album). Listening to an album in alphabetical order is nowhere near as useful as the intended track order, especially for concept albums or albums where songs fade into each other. I think I remember there being a setting that advanced to the next category at the end of the current one, so I could enable that and just press the play button on the artist home page instead of the All Artist Songs page. But my typical behavior with playlists is to restart the playlist when I get to the end, so I don't want that setting enabled globally. It would just be a heck of a lot easier if there were a "sort by album year" option like what I'm describing.
  3. I'm new to Poweramp, just downloaded the free trial and am trying to decide whether or not to purchase the full version. I did a quick search of the forum and didn't see information about this but forgive me if it's already been discussed. I'm looking to categorize my library by "Album Artist" as this is how I have things sorted out the way I like on my PC. In my PC software (MusicBee for reference) I have it set up so it is categorized by "album artist" but if there is no album artist tag, it will default to the "artist" tag. This is common on a lot of the music I have burned a years ago and the album artist would be the same as artist so I have not changed it. With the default settings in Poweramp, it looks like if "Album Artist" does not exist it will just go to an "Unknown Artist" grouping even if "Artist" exists. I've looked through the settings but haven't found anything. Is it possible to categorize by "album artist" but fall back on "artist" if it does not exist?
  4. In my library, in the artist's directory, there is a file called folder.jpg (it looks like the name doesn't matter), which is responsible for the artist's image. However, unfortunately, Poweramp for some reason does not know how to automatically select these covers, and takes one of the album covers as the artist's image. The gist of the proposal: why doesn't Poweramp select the artist file from the artist directory automatically?
  5. Hi In "setting --> Library --> Lists" i changed for display album-artist instead of antis. In player all looks right, but in widget is still showing artist instead of album artist. How can i change it? My tags settings: In album-artist is album artist in artist are singers on featurings Than if song has someone in artist tag (featuring artists) than this artist is showing like album-artist in widget but in player it is in reverse and it is right and if song has not anyone on featuring, than in widget it is showing like "Unknown artist - Song name" Sorry for my english
  6. Hello, So I have a bunch of albums I constantly go over through the Poweramp albums feature, which I like quite a lot and prefer over the folders view. However, recently I started downloading singles and they are such a pain to organize! They all appear in the albums view even though there's only one song. As there was apparently no way to change this, I decided to change the album of all the singles to a dummy album I named "singles". However, this solved nothing as now even though they appear in the same album they are all split by artist! I've read about this issue before and the solution given was to change the "Artist" tag to something along the lines of "Various"... But I REALLY don't want to do that as I would want to keep that info. I just want the album view to understand that and treat all of these songs as belonging to the same one. I've already tried playing with the "Join albums" in list settings but they seem to do nothing Here I'm posting an image from my current albums view: Is there any way to solve this? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
  7. I'm sorry if this has already been answered, but I wasn't sure exactly how to word this one for a search engine. As you can see in the attached image, there is a single song from this artist that was added to the library with "(H)" added to the end of the artist name. When I checked the tags inside Poweramp and in other programs on desktop, there didn't seem to be any issue, all tags are consistent. Does anyone know a way to fix this? 8. I love Poweramp so much! However, I'd like to have this setting be available in the future updates. It would be very nice to separate the album name from the artist-album label in the player UI. I am using the Alternative Layout style which moves the tags under the album art (which I appreciate) but I'd love to add a third line for the album name instead of merging the artist and album name in the second line. Also I would like to suggest a setting to adjust the alignment of these labels under the album art. I see that the default is aligned to the left, but I think it would look better to have center alignment setting be available. Thank you!
  9. Hi, during I play an audio stream, or Playlist I am listening alot of unheard songs, so i was thinking about a feature which could convert music tags into audio and announce it during song change. I can't every time check phone just to find the artist name. This feature would be really helpful for less phone usage
  10. In several instances the presented artist and/or album art is hopelessly clueless. "Alpine Soundtracks" gets several versions of "South Carolina Living" magazine covers. There is nothing about generic Alps images. I have no idea how many other artists and albums are so afflicted. Being able to tweak the search terms should help with fixing that problem. Being able to include files will be helpful, too.
  11. if it possible, it could be useful because some of tracks have more than one artist in one tag on their song (such as artist names separated by the word "feat.", commas, etc.) I have several vocaloid songs in which the artist's tag contains the name of the author / composer accompanied by the name of the singer. I find it hard to play songs with the same composer at once because I have to make a playlist to combine all tracks into one. thanks for advance.
  12. I like to sort by folder view because I have a lot of compilation albums. When I change the list option to "by name" it only organizes by album title. Is there a way to change this to organize by artist?
  13. Would it be possible to request for a simple sort option. I just wanted my music to play continuously like an album while on a playlist. A way that an album should play like. From Album > artist > track no. (not by title). There is currently no way to do this. I like my music to play from track number rather than from the title alphabetically. Thanks
  14. This has been discussed since the beginning of V3. For the recent discussion that makes it quite clear that this IS a BUG see the link above from release discussion.
  15. I just had my balls busted in a different section of the forum pages for not putting this in feature requests, even though the point was that I thought that it had to have already been an existing feature. I am toast after those go 'rounds, so forgive me for just doing a copy/paste of my original post, even though it wasn't worded as a feature request. And if you want any justification for why, please just refer to the posts in that other section. Thanks. 1) This seems like it would be such a fundamental option, that I am guessing that I am missing something in the settings (there are a lot). If I go to an artist, I click on the "three dot" menu icon and what I would intuitively expect is the option to choose (or assign) a genre for the artist. A genre that would then override any inconsistencies down through their catalog of albums and songs (like when a band of one genre is the anomaly on a soundtrack dominated by another genre). 2) while I figure that the above option is just flipping a switch in my settings, this second (and third) part(s) are me wondering how something related to artist genre would work. For an example, if I have all BobMarley as reggae, what would happen if I imported Marley tracks from sources that have the songs/albums miscategorized as a different genre? Would they automatically be corrected when they are imported during the next rescan? Or would I have to go back and again assign reggae as the genre of Bob Marley? 3) Sticking with Marley, there are many "dub" versions of his songs and dub is a very distinct subgenre in reggae. So I would manually add a secondary (sub) genre, so it would be entered as:"reggae//dub" So let's say that I started with 2 Bob Marley albums and I set Marley's artist genre to reggae and then add dub to ~10% of the song genres on each album. What would happen to those 10% of songs that were reading as "reggae//dub" if a few months later I realized that I had imported Marley tracks from various sources that had incorrect genres assigned, which may (depending on the answer to question 2) require me to run the artist genre again? Would it change all reggae//dub tracks to simply "reggae," or would it recognize that these songs already have the correct genre (just with an additional genre added)? Sorry if this isn't clear, I can explain further, if needed. I have worked most of my life in music, which later evolved into integrity analysis of databases as the industry shifted on line. Poweramp seems like a perfect player for me, but I just need to figure out some of the nuances of it's various functions. Peace, Ras

  17. Hi @maxmp Please have the main player show the Artist tag same as the one in the notification panel. It would be appropriate especially for Albums that are a collection of songs with Various Artists (VA) as album artist tag. TIA
  18. After update, every artist tag on Artist > Album category only shows 'Artist' tag equally. Before update, when 'Artist' tag is different from 'Album Artist' tag the latter is shown first on Artist > Album category. (When Album Artist tag is blank then Artist tag is displayed) It was good to see different Album Artist tag in Artist > Album category without using Album Artist category. Please make it available (as option)!
  19. iTunes supports these tags which it uses to sort Artists and Album Artists. That lets you sort an artist like "Sage Francis" by last name, under F, where he should be. So, great to have the option to use such tags for sorting.
