  1. if it possible, it could be useful because some of tracks have more than one artist in one tag on their song (such as artist names separated by the word "feat.", commas, etc.) I have several vocaloid songs in which the artist's tag contains the name of the author / composer accompanied by the name of the singer. I find it hard to play songs with the same composer at once because I have to make a playlist to combine all tracks into one. thanks for advance.
  2. iTunes supports these tags which it uses to sort Artists and Album Artists. That lets you sort an artist like "Sage Francis" by last name, under F, where he should be. So, great to have the option to use such tags for sorting.

    Genre tag enhancemet

I just had my balls busted in a different section of the forum pages for not putting this in feature requests, even though the point was that I thought that it had to have already been an existing feature. I am toast after those go 'rounds, so forgive me for just doing a copy/paste of my original post, even though it wasn't worded as a feature request. And if you want any justification for why, please just refer to the posts in that other section. Thanks. 1) This seems like it would be such a fundamental option, that I am guessing that I am missing something in the settings (there are a lot). If I go to an artist, I click on the "three dot" menu icon and what I would intuitively expect is the option to choose (or assign) a genre for the artist. A genre that would then override any inconsistencies down through their catalog of albums and songs (like when a band of one genre is the anomaly on a soundtrack dominated by another genre). 2) while I figure that the above option is just flipping a switch in my settings, this second (and third) part(s) are me wondering how something related to artist genre would work. For an example, if I have all BobMarley as reggae, what would happen if I imported Marley tracks from sources that have the songs/albums miscategorized as a different genre? Would they automatically be corrected when they are imported during the next rescan? Or would I have to go back and again assign reggae as the genre of Bob Marley? 3) Sticking with Marley, there are many "dub" versions of his songs and dub is a very distinct subgenre in reggae. So I would manually add a secondary (sub) genre, so it would be entered as:"reggae//dub" So let's say that I started with 2 Bob Marley albums and I set Marley's artist genre to reggae and then add dub to ~10% of the song genres on each album. What would happen to those 10% of songs that were reading as "reggae//dub" if a few months later I realized that I had imported Marley tracks from various sources that had incorrect genres assigned, which may (depending on the answer to question 2) require me to run the artist genre again? Would it change all reggae//dub tracks to simply "reggae," or would it recognize that these songs already have the correct genre (just with an additional genre added)? Sorry if this isn't clear, I can explain further, if needed. I have worked most of my life in music, which later evolved into integrity analysis of databases as the industry shifted on line. Poweramp seems like a perfect player for me, but I just need to figure out some of the nuances of it's various functions. Peace, Ras
  4. I like to sort by folder view because I have a lot of compilation albums. When I change the list option to "by name" it only organizes by album title. Is there a way to change this to organize by artist?
  5. Would it be possible to request for a simple sort option. I just wanted my music to play continuously like an album while on a playlist. A way that an album should play like. From Album > artist > track no. (not by title). There is currently no way to do this. I like my music to play from track number rather than from the title alphabetically. Thanks
  6. This has been discussed since the beginning of V3. For the recent discussion that makes it quite clear that this IS a BUG see the link above from release discussion.

  8. After update, every artist tag on Artist > Album category only shows 'Artist' tag equally. Before update, when 'Artist' tag is different from 'Album Artist' tag the latter is shown first on Artist > Album category. (When Album Artist tag is blank then Artist tag is displayed) It was good to see different Album Artist tag in Artist > Album category without using Album Artist category. Please make it available (as option)!
  9. Hi @maxmp Please have the main player show the Artist tag same as the one in the notification panel. It would be appropriate especially for Albums that are a collection of songs with Various Artists (VA) as album artist tag. TIA
  10. I've made by myself a widget using Tasker to make some intent to Poweramp API + KWGT for the graphic interface. In this way I'm able to move quickly from shuffle all to shuffle artist to album to last added... Why do not provide such similar function in the application? Because the screen recorded video is bigger than the limit to upload, I cannot attach a sample. If you want to see it, do not esitate to ask me valerio.iglio@gmail.com

    Album Artist =/= Artist

So, if u have an album on ur phone that happens to have a song on it, that's not from the album artist or when the album artist is just "various artists", Poweramp thinks that's a reason to sort the album to the artist, that did one song on the album, instead of the album artist. I'll attach screenshots, to show u what I mean. It's obviously a deadmau5 album, but PA decides it isn't. That may look like a aesthetic issue, but it's pretty annoying when u set PA to go to the next list after finishing the one before and u want to listen to all ur songs sorted by album artist that way.
  12. For the new version please add 'Artist Albums´ to the Library list, to make compilation albums, multiple artists, etc, more clearer. Current and feature* selections: Artists -> Shows the artist and songs where the artist is included in the metatag 'Artist'. Albums by Artist -> Shows albums where the artist is included in the metatag ''Artist', and the headline is the album. *Artist Albums -> Shows albums where the artist is included in the metatag ''Album Artist', and the headline is the artist (if no 'Album Artist' then 'Artist' is used) Thanks
  13. new device: Samsung Galaxy Tab S3, Android 7, pa alpha 703 1- in library, sorted for artists: albums with album artist (like VA, various artists,..) tagged so differing from track artist, there is title shown instead of artist 2-while playing title X and looking in library/orders for another track Y, choosing info/tags and than "album art" bottom left, album art of played title X is shown - instead of title Y. sorry, no native English, if I'm not understood I'll make screenshots... regards, mike BTW german translation often showing english
  14. This is an amzing player, I bought the pro version, one thing that i'm so into is adding a grid view for artists just like albums, also adding the ability to download artist images will be incredible, I hope these are implemented in the next major release, thank you developers for your great work
  15. Hi. I rip my large CD collection to play on my phone. I want to see my CD's from Artist, then Albums, then Songs, very standard usage. The problem is that when songs have different artists or co-artists like in a compilation, then the artists names are all over the place and not together in the album. That can be solved by using the Folders view instead of Library. But the bad effect is the artist list is bulky with an ugly empty folder icon for all. That's a quick and unambitious solution for a large app like Poweramp. I can't be the only one ripping CD's wanting to see the albums correctly without having to move Artist->Comment AlbumArtist->Artist. The right solution is an option to have the Library view list by "Album Artist" instead of "Artist". This is very easy to implement ... please! NB: Please explain why I feel alone in the world with this wish - no player I have tried have solved the issue properly, some can't even grasp the problem when asked. I'm sure you can §:o)
  16. Poweramp mixes up albums with the same name but different artists. Album list: Only one album shows in list, other album is missing. Artist list: One artist's album will show album art from the wrong album. Genre list: If in same genre, only one album shows in list, other album is missing. If in different genres, each album will show in its own genre list but one will have album art from the wrong album. In any case, when one album is selected the tracks from both albums are mixed together. Poweramp version: 2.0.10-build-588-play (Full Version) Android version: 5.0.1
  17. Hi there ! I've recently bought the application, and I must say it is awesome !!! But, there is still things that could be improved : - get "Artists by album" in the "Collection" tab, because it's a bit hard to search all the albums of a certain artist when there is thousands of artists in the "Artists" section. For exemple, using iTunes, we can fill a tag called "Artist of the album" so it's like the whole album has been made by this artist, and not split by every artist of each song; - have the ability to change the action of the back button. For me (and maybe for other users too), it's kinda useless to close the app when tapping the back button, it does the same thing as the Home Button or even Recent App button. So, I suggest to add an option, so the back button goes back on the last list we were, even if we are on the "Now playing" screen. - be able to go to the top of the current list, like on iPhones "tap on the notification bar" of thing like that, because it's so useful ! I know that some of my suggestions have already been posted on the forum, but I present it in another way Thank you, and keep this awesome app up
  18. I have a samsung galaxy s3 and with my old sdhc cart everything was fine today i upgraded to a sandisk ultra micro sdxc 128gb and copied my 80gb music on it ALL mp3 files have perfect tags. everything from album cover to publisher. but the app wont read them properly. I got like 2000 songs that are listed as no artist and no album and everything is unknown. but like 9000 songs are listed correctly is this a problem of the sd cart or with the app or is the database size limited? would be nice to get a solution (btw: got the newest Poweramp version available)

Album Art for the Artist list

Hey, I just got this player and so far I'm loving it. The only thing I can see that it's missing is that when browsing the Library by Artist, no album artwork is displayed; just a generic icon. This seems a little odd, given how common this feature is in other media players, to the point where I'm wondering if this is a bug? If not could you consider adding this? Thanks for the great music player!

    Artist avatar in the list?

Hello everybody! Does anybody know if it Is possible to view the artist avatar in the "Artist" list? Many thanks! Giuseppe
  21. So I'm thinking of buying Poweramp but there's one thing that is really bugging me. I often listen to wholes albums back to back, but when I try to listen to all songs by an artist, it can't get the songs in order. Even if I list all the songs by album, it will play the songs from the albums in a random order. What it needs is sorting by multiple options, so it could group by album then track number. Is there a way to do this? I really hate not being able to listen to the albums in order when I want to listen to all songs by an artist,
  22. You should be able to view playlists by Album, in the same manner you would navigate the "Albums". Example: https://i.imgur.com/v22IvHH.png Similar to iTunes: http://imgur.com/1v2Kay3 If you have a playlist of say, your favorite Albums this would make playing them much easier to navigate and aesthetically pleasing. It's a feature I've always wanted on my phone, and I yet to see anyone implement it on a mobile music player.

    Enqueue/play albums in order

I've noticed when I click and hold on an artist/folder with multiple albums/subfolders, the tracks are placed in the list based purely on track #. So all the ones are together, then all the twos, etc. The only way to enqueue an artist so that the albums play back to back in the proper track order seems to be enqueueing one album at a time, which can be tedious for an artist with lots of albums. I know its easy to swipe up or down to jump from album list to another, but it would be cool to just play an artist and have all the tracks in order.

    Artist filter with images

I've recently bought this program and I was wondering is there's the possibility when filtering by artist to have instead of a list, a gallery like Albums with images of the artists. Thanks
  25. I would really like to see support for regular expressions in the filter for artists. It would be great to filter out artists according to more exact premises. The main reason is that I have a lot of loud music with growling and some classical stuff, and sometimes I want to add all my metal to a playlist and exclude the classical ones. To add the artists manually is just to much work ( ok so I am lazy ) when you have a lot of music. If implementing a regular expression library is too hard, maybe you can implement a negative filter? Thanks for an otherwise great product.
