Based on the screenshots in this thread and my own experience, I think YAPS primarily lacks modern design aesthetics. Specifically speaking, skeuomorphic icons, buttons and backgrounds, sometimes with a gloss or reflections texture. IMHO that style was trending at the end of the 2010s, around the time Apple introduced the iPhone 4, in case that helps. Current design ideologies follow a less-is-more concept, e.g. rather muted colors or at least limited color palettes that appear homogeneous. Subtle shades or semi-transparent, overlapping elements. But as PA doesn't supports transparency out-of-the-box, some of these things could be accomplished with pre-designed GUI elements. Also, some icons look blurry or pixelated to me, which may be due to the fact that users are allowed to scale them freely, I don't know. I also find that the chosen fonts and font sizes often don't go together and create an unbalanced appearance. Perhaps these things have all become obsolete since I last tested the skin. But that's my thoughts on the subject anyway. I'm not even sure if the dev is interested. If the app looks exactly how he wants it to look, fine for me. But maybe YAPS would appeal to more users and could even increase the user base if improvements like these were considered. @flyingdutchman I re-read my earlier comment and admit that it may have come across as a bit rude, I apologize. But please don't paint all YAPS averse users as if the app is just “too much” for them, because that's not the reason, at least in my case. I indeed don't use it, as you surely can imagine. Nevertheless, I think I'm allowed to criticize.

Or, you could listen to this criticism and add good-looking buttons, sliders etc. to the skin. Just sayin...

Honestly, this remark of yours along with the smiley tempted me to voice a contrary opinion. It's not necessarily that I'm overwhelmed by Yaps' wide range of customization options. No, what keeps me from using the skin is that I simply find it ugly. And I haven't seen a single setup that has convinced me otherwise.

From my experience some skins do it better than others, maybe based on the selected background colour.

I have to make a special mention of the new Proxima skin from Mixified Pixel (developer of the Aurora and Luminous skins). Proxima automatically switches between a light and dark variant, depending on whether dark mode is activated under Android. This feature will also come to Aurora in a future update. Proxima also makes great use of the album artwork colours for the blurred background. This is absolutely my new favourite skin! https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.Poweramp.v3.proxima&hl=en_US

I'm experiencing the same issue with a broken lyrics button. Poweramp build-981-bundle-play [981004-ed39e1a4] Android 13

Looking for a skin that's similar to Retro Music app
heidl replied to 5HINee Girl's topic in Skins and Visualizations
I've been hoping for this feature for a very long time. @andrewilley is something like this being planned or at least under consideration? Unfortunately, I didn't see any such entry among the feature votes. -
Add support to show multiple disc with disc subtitle
heidl replied to qwerty1111's topic in Poweramp Feature Requests
I support this request and would also like to add that Poweramp misrepresents the logical order of the discs. To explain: For example, with 11 discs, the order is as follows: 1, 10, 11, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 The only workaround at the moment is to tag the single-digit disc numbers with a 0 in front of them, i.e. 01, 02, 03, etc. I'm aware that collections with so many discs are very rare, but I've noticed the error and I think it could be fixed very easily. I don't want to sound rude, but this looks really bad. I appreciate the customizability of your skin, but imho it needs a good designer.
-
Well I tried, but after seeing the available Pro Button designs, it eventually became too cumbersome for me. But if someone here would like to share his setup, I could give it another try.
-
I purchased Yaps and tried it out, but honestly I'm not very fond of it.
-
I was wondering why nobody here shows their skins, so I'd like to make a start and present the configurations I've created: Aurora: Melodi Light: Melodi Dark: Luminous: Luminous Black:

@ihaspeiyou're welcome! I know the struggle is real haha I was despairing at first too back then and was lucky enough to have Andre explain it to me.

Please note that some special characters like ( ) : ' [ ] must be replaced by _ in the file name. I also think it's worth mentioning that in current Android versions it's no longer possible to access the required Poweramp folder. You either have to connect your phone to a PC and access it via file explorer or use the MiXplorer app following this tutorial:
