  1. I have Poco X5 Pro (redwood) with Evolution X Android 14 custom ROM installed with latest January security patch. Root access is provided via KernelSU.

The device is Hi-res certified and Stock MIUI ROM has Hi-Res enabled by default.

However, EvoX ROM does not enable Hi-res by default. Poweramp can still use the Hi-res output though. Since Hi-res can only be used via Poweramp, I am compelled to install Hi-Res Audio Magisk Module

It by default enables Float32-bit for all media streams (I checked the dumsys and logcat).

After installing this a weird problem occurs with DVC. If DVC is enabled sound is super low, I need to disable it to get the proper volume. I checked this with AUX output, haven't tried Blutooth yet.

I suppose Poweramp (v981-play) is conflicting with the module. And I am not really asking you to fix it unless it is easily possible. For the meantime, I am keeping DVC disabled for every output.

I think that would require a degree of audio analysis that's beyond a local music player

Well I was thinking of an "autoplay"  feature, like in Spotify, after a playlist reaches an end, a mix of most played songs/ or of tagged similar genres, gets queued immediately, for a continuous playback experience.

As for more complex and relevant suggestions/analysis, I think it could fetch song suggestions from last.fm or such sites, and query local file database to see if those suggestions are available for playback.

  3. Thanks for the update mate. Just wanted to let you know the if I choose default option for bottom bar logo in Poweramp EQ, the logo changes to Poweramp, instead of PEQ's.

And also is it just me or the Q knobs of parametric EQ stopped showing in PEQ, with this update? Resetting all liv dark skin settings to default doesn't seem to fix it. But when I switching to default skins, it's normal and fine as expected.

Looks like hacking I don't feel like doing.   Is there not an update to make Amazon Music work?  Or Youtube Music Vanced?   I don't understand why it's not working when regular YT Music works with it and Spotify.

It's not "hacking" or "exploiting" a bug, nor it is exploiting a security vulnerability. It's just a hidden switch, for advanced users. PEQ can only equalize players that support equalization and expose their audio sessions. Otherwise, either the devs of those media players have to implement EQ support, or Android will have to allow universal unrestricted audio equalization. Amazon Music, YouTube don't work with PEQ because devs don't want you to use an equalizer on them. Nothing you can do I am afraid, expect convincing the devs. ADB permission is basically "forcing" equalization support.

    Android 12 beta 3

"Beta" - Android S is still in beta stage, not stable so it is normal to see bugs here and there. Try with the latest stable version of Android (i.e Android 11), should work fine. Max said he will optimize PA for Android S when it reaches stable stage. It's not worth making something out of the previews/betas because Google changes configuration/APIs everytime they post a new beta update.

The built-in rock equalizer sounds kinnda off with my recent headphones, I just got the Moondrop Starfield IEMs and I really want to tune the eq as best as I can for it, I listen to bands like Linkin Park, Architects some MGK (which is like, different genre every album) etc.

    Thank you.

I use already available profiles or download some from the internet. Then just tune it myself.

  7. I think it all boils down to how you perceive the sound or the music. Just another person saying that it is better does not magically make it better. Though this psychological trick is often used for marketing purposes. I trust my ears; only I know what is the best for me.

Also, I remember Max saying that he can get results **very close** to the Poweramp player, which uses a custom DSP engine. Android's implementation of the AudioFX isn't of very high quality, that is also the reason why Max does not want to implement Reverb features in PEQ app; it mostly adds noise.

Again, trust your ears. That is the key to achieving a perfect sound experience in my opinion.
