  1. I think qaac can export cue sheets embedded on aac/m4a/mp4 files, but I never tried Might he worth looking at, not around my pc now so I can't check, but I'm almost sure it can be done, and can be batched as well
  2. That is a bit janky but you can convert it with foobar and use "merge all tracks into a single file" option, this will merge the files and dont make any cue files Then do the same process but convert to wav instead, and use the "create multi track file", this will make a wav+cue (since wav apparently doesnt support embedded cue sheets) Then you open the cue file with a text editor and change the extension of the file it is looking for: .m4a or .aac instead of .wav It is a 3 step process but it does work...
  3. I've been using WavPack for a long time, really like it so I might be a bit biased. I dont use the hybrid mode too often, but to me they do sound better than the alternatives... I'll refrain from speaking too much about it else I'll invoke the wrath of someone for sure. To encode, you can use "wavpack -h -x4 -b'2.0' input.file output.wv", that's the basic of it and will give a file of about 200kbps of bitrate (for 16bit 44.1kHz input), can't go lower than that. On Poweramp, enable "Settings > Library > Scanner > Parse CUE files" (this will create the virtual folders with the split tracks) And disable "Settings > Library > Lists > Show CUE disc image files" (this will hide the big unsplit file, leaving only the virtual folder)
  4. I just encoded some stuff and tested WavPack, FLAC and TAK works fine ALAC (not AAC) and Ogg Vorbis indeed doesn't work You might want to try WavPack in hybrid mode in the meantime until Poweramp supports embedded cue sheets on these formats if it ever does.
  5. Hmm I'm not sure about AAC/ALAC chapters since I never used them on Poweramp, but I use embedded cue sheets fairly often and it does work, for FLAC, WavPack and TAK, they all work perfectly fine for me. Might be something specific to AAC chapters or something on your Poweramp settings... One thing I noticed though is that if you are playing a track from any cue sheet split file (so not only embedded), if you go to the info/tags screen it is pretty lacking, only showing a few fields, but on the player screen it shows what it needs to
  6. Well libFLAC and libFLAC++ also got updated, and it has been on 1.4 for a month already, so I guess it's now on the hands of ffmpeg to catch it Some codecs such as WavPack and TAK for example have their own icons on the audio info screen, they might not be using ffmpeg as well despite ffmpeg having support for them (I guess, I usually use the reference encoders for audio) Either way, the notice is there so I think now we wait then
  7. FLAC got updated a few weeks ago to 1.4.1 (and a month ago to 1.4), and amongst the changes the main thing is that it can now encode and (finally) decode 32 bit files. Poweramp can see these files and read the tags, but can't play them. Would be nice to get this capability. I'm a big fan of WavPack, but FLAC is catching up!
  8. This thread feels like a fever dream lol Plus a few buzzwords Though I'm on the crowd waiting for better remote file playing implementation (as in playing from FTP or SMB for example)
  9. If this is about the equalizer, see the previous replies If not, then there is a way but it is quote janky: get NewPipe and enable "Use External Audio Player", then select Poweramp when you click in some video. It works like an internet radio stream in which you have pretty much no control over it on Poweramp though. It is pretty limited, and again, quite janky but it is doable. Recommend using Poweramp Equalizer though if your main objective is not playing local files with Poweramp.
  10. I personally would rather have option to connect to a lan storage (instead of things like gdrive for example) in some better and more solid way, such as a more complete/polished implementation of smb or ftp connectivity for example. The way we can do it now is pretty squishy, tags and pictures won't load and you can't seek, a remote controlled icecast stream works better but the setup is pretty bonkers and it comes with its own limitations. But any advance on this area is interesting to follow
  11. You know how Poweramp has that button you can add on the quick settings area (I'll attach an image to show it)? Would be cool if we had one for Poweramp Equalizer as well, so we could easily enable or disable the audio processing at any time. A button on the main equalizer UI would be nice too, so we could do it from the equalizer screen instead of having to go through 2 screens to enable or disable it, but if I had to choose I think the quick settings toggle would be nicer
  12. I noticed this too a while ago already, but it is probably a skin issue because it doesn't happen on the default skin. I only have luminous black so I can only talk about it. Though here the problem is a bit different, the header area without the buttons gets very small and all the text gets squished together into the same area. But again that is most likely a skin issue because it doesn't happen on the default skin. I could swear luminous had a thread on the skins section but I coudnt find it last time I looked for it and eventually just got used to ignore it...
  13. If you encode something at a said sample rate at 24bit and another one at 32bit, the second one will have a higher bitrate, same goes for other depths as well like 16 or 8 (which eill have less of course) or 64 (which will be even higher), the sample rate is the same but the bitrate will vary. And higher bitrates do a world of difference, though outside of testing, the source file has to have this high bitrate to start with of course. Ever since I got this phone which says it can do 32bit (including on the audio policy file, I guess at least) but Poweramp hard locks to 24 no matter what, I've been thinking about that. And to me there is something different about the stock player, it's hard to explain but something just feels different, it's a very precise change but you can easily find it once you spend enough time getting used to it, and it only happens with 32bit files and DSD streams. This might be getting annoying but I still think it's less about if it's "right or wrong" and more about using all the supposed capabilities of the hardware.
  14. I think the main point is that for equipment that supposedly can deal with 32bit, why not use it. Doesn't matter if its a god tier thing or a measly phone, if it says it can deal with it then give it. It does fall perfectly in line with Poweramp main thing which is playback of local files as good as it can. Although I believe the main difference we can feel between 24 and 32bit files comes from the increased bitrate, it would still be a very nice thing to have altogether.
  15. It is kinda overkill for listening only, and people will say all kinds of stuff defending it or going against it... I'm on neither side, I just want to use it when/where possible. But yeah it might be good to nerf your files down to 24bit to keep on your device for now (they will also use less storage space), do remember to keep the unmodified source stored somewhere though. Not the first time this 32bit talk happened.
  16. What I said on the first part of the previous message was specifically meant to say I know the difference... But anyway, yeah the Quad DAC is always enabled because I need it in order to power my headphones, and as I mentioned before the output is hard locked at 24bit no matter what sample rate I choose or what sample rate the file is at. From 44.1k all the way up to 384k, it is 100% of the times locked at 24bit (it sometimes goes to 16bit if something else has an audio session active like YouTube for example, but I just need to close the other app and restart Poweramp and it goes back to 24) and it has been like this ever since android 8 on this phone.
  17. Idk about Neutron, been eons since I've tried it, but I know my way around Poweramp and my files. Poweramp DSP does report as "Float64/32 bit" but the output is 100% of the times 24bit, no matter the sample rate I choose, and again my phone DAC is supposedly capable of dealing with 32bit. I also have quite a few 32bit files (both float and int) and even made 64bit ones myself just for the lolz and yeah no matter what the output depth is always 24 bit. Again the biggest annoyance is that little OCD devil making a fuss about it but I managed to tame it down a bit after I processed the files to 24bit (keeping the original source on my server storage of course).
  18. As a long time TAK user, I can say that Poweramp can play it fine, but it will be pretty hard to seek on higher profiles, and the wave seekbar will be kinda bugged sometimes. Same for APE, but turned up to 11 as APE compression can go pretty crazy. If you want to use APE at insane or TAK at p5m, better to use a simple seekbar and not seek on them at all, just start the first song and let it play undisturbed. Also be mindful of your device power (as in performance) and battery because these formats at these settings are quite the thing to deal with. These are better reserved to a PC since it is way more powerful (check your cpu usage when seeking on these files, it will spike), or to long playblack sessions where you won't be seeking on them. Edit: if you want/need a format that compresses a bit better than flac and is easier to deal with, I recommend checking on wavpack. I've been using wavpack for a long time on Poweramp and they seek just fine while compressing better than flac, it also can do 32bit int and float but it does take a lot longer to encode. I recommend using -h -x4 settings.
  19. I also always wondered why it is hard fixed at 24 bit even though my phone (LG G7) can do 32bit. No matter if I do 44.1 or 384k, it will be 24 bit all the way on the hi-res output (and always has been this way, on android 8, 9 and 10) But well what can I do about it, at least it still sounds very good (though oddly enough not quite like the stock player, which unfortunately can read like 2 formats and is very inconvenient to use) and the other things do make up for it. I do nerf down my 32bit files to 24 just to satisfy my OCD though But that little voice will always be in my head asking questions about it
  20. No resampling mode and smb/ftp/nas access, Amen \('u')/
  21. Just noticed: Poweramp can't read nor write tags from .oga files (flac streams inside ogg containers), it also doesn't show the length of the file on the song list, only on the player screen once it starts playing the file. They do play and seek fine though. Not a big issue since these files aren't very common, just an observation.
  22. This is something I've been expecting like a kid looking at candy behind a glass wall, but while it doesn't show up, I've been trying to find some alternatives because even using hybrid lossy files, the lack of storage space is really crippling my phone. You could try an icecast stream. Although unfortunately it is very limited quality wise (q10/500kbps vorbis is the upper limit) and works more like an internet radio, Poweramp deals with it very well, and you can use it with just the server (which is a service that runs in the background) and ffmpeg. There is also a plugin for foobar2000 (the PC audio player) that can feed audio from itself to the server, and you can use foobar2000 controller to control it from your phone as well. I know this sounds super janky, but it works better than one would expect. You have foobar2000 running on a PC sending audio to the server, which you connect to using Poweramp, and you can change the songs/navigate through the library with the foobar2000 controller. You can also always use ffmpeg and just stream the whole collection non stop like a true radio and ditch foobar, lol I can deal with the jankyness and latency but the low bitrate kills me
  23. Oof it was the settings search, not the song search, my bad I am so used to where everything is I sometimes forget about that button, but yeah the settings search is indeed nor working for me too The other things though are still fine
  24. I'm on build 926 and I don't have issues with the search function, nor with the album art corners or selection, and not even the seekbar acting strange when stopping or metadata vanishing... I'm using the Luminous Dark skin and hadn't seen any issue so far somehow LG G7, stock Android 10 ROM, build 926-bundle-play
  25. That would be super cool, I think I remember the legacy Poweramp had an option to set the player screen background to a solid color based on the album art, and you could change the brightness. I use the Luminous Dark skin and I sometimes just go through different songs with different album art pictures and manually change the skin accent color to match that, lol I do prefer to change the accent color while keeping the background black/dark, but changing both would be very nice. For the background, on the player screen only would be enough, while the accent color could be global. Something like the colored notifications we have since Android 8 I guess? Which sets the notification background and the other elements to solid colors matching the album art. Though I'm talking about a custom skin there, I take that it would need the player to support that in the first place.
