  1. Hi @maxmp, something about v870 broke hires. Volume went too low. I'm on wired by the way with DVC enabled until 870 came. Had to troubleshoot that resulted to temporarily switching to OpenSL ES.

Generally, I think you want secondary sort setting (there is a hidden secondary sort field already, for example, year + name for albums). This is quite possible, adding to the backlog. Thanks!

Yes, that would be very simple to build using the user-customisable Library Category feature that I proposed. Using that feature proposal, you would simply choose your own sorting order for tags (Album Artist > Year > Album Title > Disc# > Track# would be good in this case) but not tick to set any of those levels as a 'grouping' level - so it would show the whole result as one long flat list of all songs. Optionally you could include some in-list subject breaks in you wanted, such as showing a small header divider for each new Album Artist name and/or Album Titles for example, to punctuate what would otherwise be a very long track list.

The way I envisioned such a feature, it ought to be possible to customise the heck out of pretty much any library view that you could possibly think of - either to duplicate an existing category but with minor display or sorting changes, or just build your own wacky alternatives. :) It's all just a blue-sky idea though unless Max thinks it's both desirable and implementable.

What is planned short term is ability to add 2nd and may be 3rd level of sorting.

Custom categories are also planned, but they won’t be a hierarchy, they were planned as top level flat categories added by user with the specific filtering. Sorting is not directly related to this. Thanks!

Hi @maxmp! First, thank  you for your continuous, undying hard work. Many of us are very happy with the new features, bug fixes and you constant interaction here in the forum. Props to Andre 100% too!

Bumping this thread once again. ;)

Custom categories is a planned feature, but (static predefined) Years category will be there too.

This is planned to be implemented after the next major update which is equalizer focused (parametric/configurable equalizer and relted). Thanks!

Was reviewing this thread and got excited to have read again your response, Max. Thanks!

Max, any thoughts on my suggestion from a while back of creating a user-definable Library category option? I know it would be a bit more work initially, but it would easily handle all of the varied requests for special/new categories that pop up periodically, and save a lot of work long-term. It would make Poweramp's already-impressive Library system hugely more flexible, and be a great selling point.

The basic premise was simply to allow the user to define their own Library Categories as follows:

    • First choose the sorting order from a list, with tickboxes to enable items such as Artist, Album, Genre, Year, Composer, Disc#, Track#, Folder, Filename, Date Modified/Added, etc. Drag items up and down the list to set the order.
    • Optionally then choose (again using simple tickboxes) which of those items should act as a 'layer separator' to determine how many drill-down levels would be available - e.g. setting no grouping at all would result in one long flattened list.

I added a few more thoughts on possible expansions to that basic concept in this thread:

Very well put, Andre! That sums it all up! Yeah, hope @maxmp can... he can!

Hi @maxmp, bumping this thread. TIA.

  7. Hi @maxmp! Would it be possible to add a sort By Album with Year as an option when playing tracks inside the All Album Artist Songs?

Image below shows sort By Year in Reverse and how the Albums are correctly sorted outside the All Album Artist Songs.

    Screenshot_20190707-122234_1.jpg

But when you go inside and choose to sort By Year, the tracks lined up alphabetically, which is opposed to their track#.

    Screenshot_20190707-122433.jpg

Selecting sort By Album sets the tracks correctly by their track#, however, not according to the year they were supposed to be sorted or lined up.

This is why a good combination of sort By Album + Year would be effective. Otherwise, the sort By Year can be tweaked, instead?

Image below should be as follows:

    Delinquent Habits - Year 1996

    Merry Go Round - 2001

    Freedom Band - 2003

Thank you for your awesome work!

great fixes! hands down. starting to love this build.
though I'd really reconsider bringing back the playback control in playlist menu UI. that was such a great option for a fast browse through tracks.

and you can kill me, but I still don't think that bringing buttons on top of a touch sensitive playback area in main menu is that great of an idea (same goes on titles on top ot he cover art). I know it's a kind'a modern design approach, but great things should be more about functions and ergonomics first (which will always kinda bring us back to "boring" maybe, but will always be worshiped by hardcore users).

    just a thought.

     Screenshot_20180917-112025C.jpg.51507dcb5db320f291dc534d7aed6280.jpg     Screenshot_20180917-105703s.jpg.d5868aa08ca0bd0452a94a02e6434f95.jpg

as far as really good design goes, u never want  overlapping buttons in your UI, and artwork with titles covered with menu parts.. it will never be ergonomical / fuctional 100%

+ the less we have to press to get something done asap = the better the UI. if you don't care much about the cover art, then apply the play list in that area isnterad (don't just ruin it), it would be way more functional and make more sense. now jumping forth to the main and back to the playlist all the time is really annoying at the moment (because there is no playback options in the playlist).

My suggestion would be to merge both (main UI and playlist UI) one day, and adapt the expansion option to the list area (take foobar2000 (PC) as a refernce - it's a winner amongst audiophiles because of it's ease of use, and simplistic customizable design (as if there's no design at all some would say. it's tight and smart!)).

it would be cool if you did the standard V3 waveseek w/out pro buttons, but not have the tags covering the album art, also having the artwork squared off would be cool too.

    @gcantoni

hoping you can do mockup 02 above and have options to choose from for the Alternative Layout. Max had said that the skin author can do this now. TIA.

Tried, but got refund because seems impossible to get the combination I'm after (track/album info below album art, pro buttons hidden, default (new/fancy) seekbar). Will keep an eye on this and if those options become available will definitely purchase.

Yeah, just purchase the skin, and I like the alternate layout but would like an option with it to either have buttons or not have them, and just have the wave seekbar. Be able to choose both would be nice too. Just in the alternate layout those options to choose, if possible. I saw the alternate on wave seekbar having different ways to have the seekbar are but that is not really what I wanted.

Choose between wave or old one, and choose between buttons or not.

Otherwise, thanks and I love it, and love the title, artist, album under the album artwork.

This is what I want as well. Haven't seen this in the sample free skin. @gcantoni will this be possible in your skin?

I wonder if it's possible to have both a 'thin-line' progress bar showing the whole track (much easier to see where you are) and also the new-style dynamic seekbar (better for making small adjustments and jumps in longer tracks) within the same skin?

Personally, my ideal would be something very similar to the above example from max, but without the black-box backgrounds around the text items (which still remind me of old Dymo stick-on labels - anyone remember those?) and using smaller control buttons to allow enough space for separate spaces for a dynamic seekbar, a full-length (thin) progress bar, and the five 'Pro' buttons (in my mind, "Pro" in this case means "Proper", as proper playback controls are certainly not an advanced user thing, they are essential and basic controls)

    Andre

+1 on this! Good job to the OP for his skin/theme. But, I really prefer the sample Max posted. That for me is near perfect already.
