  1. I also agree 100% Album Artist tag should ALWAYS displayed if present.
  2. I agree with this 100%. Who do you see the artist as when in an album list?
  3. How do you guys foresee this listing all artists of the track? Say your song is tagged Artist: Eminem; Dr. Dre; Snoop Dogg, Album Artist: Eminem How do I see the second and third artist when viewing the song in any list? Obivously the song would show up in the Artist category for Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg. But how do you see all of the artists tagged in the song? It seems as if when viewing a song, you need to see the Artist tag "Eminem; Dr. Dre; Snoop Dogg" and see the album listed as the Album Artist tag "Eminem". Another reason I can't see how multiple artists would work in both Artist and Album Artist tags at the same time. You would have to loose the ability to see all artists tagged in the songs. If you had the song tagged Artist: Eminem Album Artist: Eminem; Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, then again, it's the same scenario flipped. You need to only see the Artist tag for album, and Album Artist tag for song to see all 3 artists. You have to do one or the other. If Poweramp split both, it would take some serious processing power to debug all of the duplicates when generating lists to make Poweramp not show 3 albums under each artist or album artist.
  4. I would say this and genre listing albums instead of artists is the only two things holding this app from hands down the best app in every way.
  5. I'm not sure the juice is worth the squeeze. The goal is for Multiple Artists to work correctly and it's a simple implementation for Artist tag. I'm not sure making the App compatible with a third party Windows app is ever going to be a goal for the developer. You can always Emulate Poweramp and have it on Windows as well. 😤
  6. Problem is this would end up in two albums listed under Eminem with how Poweramps current sorting is. This would require a major redesign to sort this way. This is also tagged backwards from the standard. So people who don't custom tag wouldn't benefit from this at all.
  7. Here is the problem: The standard for multiple artists tags is in the Artist tag. The majority of websites where you buy/download music tag this way with the ; already in place. Poweramp sorts/groups all albums in all categories by the Album Artists field following the standard. In order for Album Artist to be the Multiple Artists splitter, Poweramp library sorting would have to be redesigned and everyone who uses Poweramp and downloads music would have to install Musicbee or one of the other backwards sorting apps and retag their library to match. Both of those scenarios are just not likely. Why not use an app on Windows that tags the correct way and then the rest of the world doesn't have to redo their library?
  8. Because we're talking about Poweramp splitting Artists and Album Artists based on the ; Your scenario is only one of the two
  9. I think with any library in the world, this is how Genre works. The glitch in the world of the library systems really started in the 90's with mp3 players being designed poorly and not being able to sort out multiple Genres in the library. I think we're really just back to normal now. But I see your analogy and maybe this needs to be a third category. Artists and Album Artists remain untouched and there is a new Multiple Artists category? I would actually prefer this and you either enable it or not. This seems like a win win for everyone. I sketched this out on a piece of paper and I don't even think it is possible to work for Album Artists. If you tagged a song as: Artist: Eminem, Album Artist: Eminem; Dr. Dre, Album: Encore then went to the Artists category -> Eminem. You would see two albums: Eminem - Encore and Dr. Dre - Encore (based on how Poweramp sorts these tags) and under Albums and Genre you would see the same thing, duplicate albums. If you tagged a song as Artist: Eminem; Dr. Dre, Album Artist: Eminem, Album: Encore then went to the Artists category you would see one album under Eminem as: Eminem - Encore and one album under Dre. Dre as: Dr. Dre - Encore so then you need: "Album Artist Label for Albums / Tracks" selected in the options so would see it as: Eminem - Encore under Artists-> Dr. Dre. Looking at it now, it seems like it doesn't really cause any conflicts if it is an optional Multiple Artists category and you only separate Artist tag... I also agree with tagging as "Simon & Garfunkel ; Paul Simon ; Art Garfunkel" to see all 3. You can also do what I do currently and tag everything those two artists do as Artist: Simon & Garfunkel and change the Album Artist tag to "Simon & Garfunkel", "Paul Simon', and "Art Garfunkel" and enable in the settings "Album Artist Label for Albums / Tracks" That will group them together in Artists, but you'll still be able to see they are different projects and you still have the ability to see them individually in Album Artists category.
  10. I'm not going to pretend to know the exact mechanics of DLNA/UPNP, so here's the dumbed down version of how BubbleUPnP works right now, and how I would like Poweramp to work: I open Poweramp on my cell phone, turn on wifi+bluetooth and then i put it back in my pocket. I now open Poweramp on my android car stereo. I scroll down to Libraries and choose my cell phone library. I can now browse my entire cell phone library using my android car stereo Poweramp app. I can browse artists, albums, genre, playlists, etc and see all information and artwork in the library exactly as it appears on my cell phone and play anything I want. My cell phone never leaves my pocket. This is my request for Poweramp.
  11. Current casting isn't much better than bluetooth other than the screen looking more complete. Poweramp needs to be the app you are sending to. You open Poweramp on your phone and select UPnP. You open Poweramp on your android car stereo, wall mounted/desktop android tablet or Android tv and you toggle from internal library to UPnP library. You can now browse the exact same Poweramp library on either device. BubbleUPnP already does this. So I'm not just dreaming that this would work.
  12. I'm around 13000 songs and no crashing ever. I would say it could be the types of phones you may be using may not have the memory to run a large scan. When an android maxes out ram/CPU it tends to kill the app or crashes. I'm running a Sony with octacore and 2gb ram for reference
  13. This was a feature I used a lot in V2 because if any song in an album was released as a radio single, I embed that singles artwork into that song (if available), and sometimes it's track 1, which caused Poweramp to display the wrong art for the album. I learned this was still possible as soon as V3 came out so I've been doing it ever since. I have 1113 images in that folder right now. I also use B-Sides album titles for many artists for non album songs as you can see above. I use a round generic or custom placeholder image so it's easy to distinguish between an album when browsing.
  14. I believe I understand what you're asking, and it still is possible. It just isn't as easy as it used to be. You're asking for a placeholder when in album list view? So look at my example below, I am in artist category, look at my "2020 B-sides" album: When I click it, I only have one song in that album, but as you can see it has a different embedded cover and Poweramp did not select the art from that song. This is how v2 used to behave with cover.jpg or folder.pg If this is what you're trying to accomplish, you can no longer use the cover.jpg/folder.jpg method, you just have to move that jpg to an internal Poweramp folder and name it correctly. So in this example above I place a jpg named "Citizen Cope - 2020 B-sides.jpg" in Poweramp folder "album_art" located @ "android/data/_com.maxmpz.audioplayer/album_art" the formala is "Artist - Album" Restart Poweramp it's good to go. Doing this will create that placeholder jpg for the album, but not affect any of the album art embedded in each song. This is a hack to that feature that used to be present in V2.
  15. It can but it crashes a lot, the UI is limited, the album artwork is tiny. If it showed the Poweramp UI it would be different. I use a wireless adapter pad so my USB port isn't accessible. UPNP is wireless.
  16. Bluetooth doesn't give me the ability mirror Poweramp on my head unit. Using BubbleUPNP, the app is installed on the head unit and phone and they are synced and identical. Same library, category structure and all artwork included. It's just not as good as the Poweramp app so I don't use it. I use Poweramp all day at work so I want to continue my playlist when I jump in the car. So it's a hassle to switch to a different app or a seperate Poweramp library built into the head unit. Right now I just mount my 5" phone on the dash and use the head unit for Bluetooth audio. It's unfortunate because I have a 10" android screen in the car that's unused because album art doesn't even transfer and all I can do is skip tracks and see a track title.
  17. Yeah I would love if I could install Poweramp on my car head unit and get the music from my phone like BubbleUPNP.
  18. Could you imagine if you went on Spotify and clicked on Genre and it listed EVERY SINGLE album in the database in alphabetical order. It would take you forever to browse just A. I mean my personal library is over 4000 albums currently. Browsing by Genre->Albums with that many albums renders this category useless on my device. It's quicker to just scroll through Artists to jump to the album. I will agree Poweramp is unmatched in how many sorting options it actually has. But... Poweramp along with every personal media player I've tried is completely missing a few of the most BASIC... let me stop there and use a couple of different words: STANDARD or COMMON sorting options there is. Let's be honest and not talk about Android or Streaming or Personal Media Player for a second. Let's look at any Discography all the way back to the 90's, what order do you see and what order do you expect to be able to browse if the list was interactive? Artists->Albums,Singles+EP's,Guest Appearances->Songs Albums->Artists->Songs Genre->Artists->Albums->Songs Years->Months>Albums->Songs Playlists That's the most basic lists since the beginning of any Digital or Interactive lists, and almost all of the streaming platforms have nailed it. Can you honestly say Poweramp or any other non-streaming media player has more than 2 of the 5 fully available? I know you're saying be thankful for all the great stuff you got, but it's like giving me a huge bowl of my favorite cereal with Bananas, strawberries, blueberries, with some sugar on top, and then saying "sorry no milk or spoon". I designed websites from 1997-2013 for Gold & Platinum selling Artists, so this is my opinion based on my experience.
  19. I think Poweramp is the best out there... But it's still lacking these basic essential features that streaming services already have. I'm truly amazed and disappointed that No android player can compare to how some streaming services sort music. No multiple artists support, no separating of albums, singles, ep, guest appearances, limited genre browsing, limited playlist creation capabilities. Obviously there are some cool features that the streaming services don't offer, but there's a huge trade off of the most basic features missing.
  20. I'm +1 for synced lyrics. Definitely wouldn't trust an app to find them for me.
  21. I agree, Genre/Artist/Album sorting Short-term would be preferred. It does feel like that's a copy and paste category rather than waiting for a hard-to-develop customizeable feature that accomplishes this task. Long Term, I'm sure this would be really cool. Seems like a lot of people have been waiting since 2013 for this feature and every Android music user ever has been waiting for "Multiple Artists"... I would rather these took Precedent, if possible. 😇
  22. Is there any way to currently use release dates for sorting? My problem is for example, one artist I listen to has released 4 albums this year. When I look at his album list (I sort by year) they are completely out of order for when they were released for 2019. I've seen some websites that started adding the date following the year in the year tag field (ex: 2019-11-30) and I tried that for both albums but it didn't work. The year still shows, but Poweramp still sorted alphabetically. I'm guessing Poweramp completely ignores everything after the first 4 digits. Is there currently a method for this or does this need to be a request?
  23. Are you saying you got this to work with Poweramp in addition to having BubbleUPNP? Instead of starting a new topic, I'll post this here because this is exactly why I came here today... I really just want to play my music on my phone in Poweramp and cast to Poweramp on my second android device (Android Car Head Unit). My second device doesn't have chromecast and that appears to be the only way to cast now? I want to actually use my Head Unit and toggle to Radio, Built in GPS Navigation, while using Poweramp and not have to plug in or Mirror the phone onto the second device and use it instead of the head units ui. So at the very least I want play/pause/<> track info and cover art to transfer. I can't believe we've come so far with our phones, but it feels like we are 10 years behind with our car head units when it comes to communicating with each other. I've bought a new generic Android Car Head Unit. I installed Car Launcher AGAMA and everything works great except I don't see Track info or cover Art in the launcher although I do see just Track Info in the Bluetooth stock app. I tried all day so many different solutions and nothing worked, no App would help display Track Info or artwork coming from my phone to the head unit and work with the launcher. So I installed BubbleUPNP to both devices and played audio using it's Built-In player and Track info + Cover Art magically worked!!! Now how can I do this with Poweramp???
  24. Please add this! Currently Poweramp genre browsing is too congested. This and adding multiple artist tag support will make this app untouchable!
  25. So with this would we be able to setup the Genre category so we could have an Artists list instead of Albums list?
