  1. I didn't think about removing the album artist tag. I'll have to try that to see what it looks like. One unknown artist would be better if that's what will happen. I cant change the wording though because that's my issue right now. I need to use "view album artist instead of artist for albums and songs" so in your example i would always see the word "(Singles)" in all categories and i would never see "The Tornados". The reason i always use those options is because Poweramp has no way of grouping artists together other than album artist or genre. Here's an example of how i group: i have four albums: Chris Cornell, Soundgarden, Audioslave, and Temple Of The Dog. (Chris Cornell is the singer, he just has different bands). I tag the Artist of all four albums as "Chris Cornell" and i leave the album artist the correct band name. So when i view chris cornell in Artists i see the albums listed by the correct band name instead of seeing four chris cornell albums. Even with the new multiple artists feature i should be able to tag an album "chris cornell; temple of the dog" etc, but without using those "view album artist instead of artist" options i wouldn't be able to see the differences in band projects like i can now. This is what i was going on about in another post. I proposed a grouping category a few years ago but it didn't really get much traction. We did get maxmp to add the "view album artist instead of artist" options though. So i was able to make a workaround to this missing feature. At the time people suggested using Genre for this. It just congests the genre section as i have over 50 groupings.
  2. Basically I want to hide artists that only have 1 or 2 songs when viewing the "Album Artists" category. This makes the section much more condensed as you only see your most popular artists and you don't lose anything, because you can still see a more detailed artist list in the Artists category. Also with the new multiple artists splitting option for Artists, these 1 hit wonders could end up with many more songs attached to them in the Artists category. The grouping wouldn't change either, but it's kind of pointless to see 1000 artists in the grouping category that only have 1 song. I currently I have 1696 Album Artists.... but I only show 344 in that category. I have condensed this down by tagging artists that only have one or two songs as "Various Artists" in Album Artist field. The problem with this is I want to utilize the "View Album Artist tag instead of Artist tag for Songs/Albums" options when in the Artists category and I get stuck seeing "Various Artists" tags everywhere even though most of the albums aren't even compilations and I can never see the actual artist of the song in any view with these options turned on. Being able to remove those "Various Artists" tags and put the proper Artist fixes this, but then i get stuck seeing 1000 artists with 1 song. It seems like something others may want to use.
  3. It seems like maxmp started this but didn't finish because you can manually make this work by placing the cover in: Android/data/_com.maxmpz.audioplayer/album_art Using this naming sequence : Artist - Album title.jpg I have hundreds of files in there. i have albums that i only have a placeholder when in album view, and the actual artwork for every single song of the album is completely different. The only snag is some characters don't work and need replaced, like ()/',!&$. An odd example: (Tom's) Crazy - Album: One! needs to become _Tom_s_ Crazy - Album_ One_.jpg
  4. I agree. But when I click on Paul Simon to see an album list I should see the correct artist listed under the album title that released that album. Not Paul Simon just because he was tagged on one song.
  5. Is that not what he said? He requoted this on his update. The only part he scratched out was about there being "- normal Artists/Album Artists categories still exist in Library and can be used together with the new ones."
  6. This is an assumption as of right now. The developer is splitting album artists category as well so he may not have the ability to keep those options for this category to show Album Artist tag instead of artist tag in. If you think about splitting album artist tag and artist tag at the same time and tried to use the current show album artist instead of artist option this can create a bunch of anomalies. If you split album artist then which album artist does it show with the "show instead" options and how does it group albums? It would need to group and show using the tag as a whole and ignore the splitting yet keep the splitting in other instances. That's why i reiterated my examples of why it needs to continue to work with the "show instead" options as i could see the developer removing these display options for the multiple artist categories to get it working. I think the general assumption here is everything will work exactly as before except now we will have this new amazing feature like magic with no compromises. A feature that no one else on android has accomplished and the developer has avoided since 2013. Poweramp should be able to display music how it is displayed everywhere else in the world and as normal people would expect it to. That's the whole point of feature requests. The constant robotic answer of "this is how Poweramp works... if you don't like it you don't have to use it" really puts people that come here off. That's a horrible attitude. I know exactly how Poweramp works in not looking for a history lesson of how Poweramp works when requesting something. I have one of the most customized libraries there is. I've been using multiple artists for years in Poweramp. I just use Genre by placing a Unicode character before each artist name. This allows me to use genre as normal a-z and then i can jump directly to the Unicode that shows up after after z and browse my multiple artists. Since genre shows as links in the info tag i also have the ability to jump to multiple artists in any song at any time already. It would just be nice to not have to add these to genre anymore and have a dedicated category.
  7. You're too deep into how Poweramp currently works to see what I'm saying. I know it wouldn't separate with an &. The whole point is in the real world (outside of how Poweramp currently works)... I should be able to tag any amount of songs or the entire album as Paul Simon, Art Gargunkel and Simon & Garfunkel (if i wanted) and then go to either solo artist and see an album listed with "Simon & Garfunkel" right there below the album title. I should not see "Paul Simon" listed as the artist under the album title of a "Simon & Garfunkel" album. That's not the artist the album belongs to. This would be a limitation of Poweramp and its multiple artist splitting capabilities as you do not see this anywhere else outside of Poweramp. Websites and streaming apps included. This is why i say you need to have the ability to see album artist tag instead of artist tag for albums. Because then you can tag album artist as "Simon & Garfunkel" and when viewing "Paul Simon" or "Art Garfunkel" the artist under the album title will show as "Simon & Garfunkel"
  8. If i go to any website/populated list of Paul Simon i expect to see an album listed as "Simon & Garfunkel - Bookends". I should see the same thing when viewing an album list of Art Garfunkel. I should not see "Paul Simon - Bookends" or "Art Garfunkel - Bookends" anywhere, ever. That's just bonkers. if it works like that. Many people will hate it and never use it. I couldn't use it. It's trading one defect for another (that is arguably far worse). I myself would end up with nearly a 1000 artists that have potentially 100's of albums that i could not differentiate between.
  9. I think the big issue with it working exactly like genre is if you tag an album as artist "Tom; Bob" and it's really an album by "Tom" that features "Bob" for 30 seconds on that one song. Then i go to "Bob" and see an album listed there and it says the album is by "Bob". I think that will be extremely confusing and annoying as well. The reason i say that is: say you are a huge "Lil Wayne" fan (for example) That guy has dozens of albums and he is featured on 100's of albums. Your Lil Wayne section will have 100's of albums and you wouldn't be able to tell which albums are his and which are features because they're all going to say they are by Lil Wayne. Unless @maxmp changes the coding to only show the first split artist as the artist of the album. If you still have the ability to see "album artist instead of artist for albums" then maybe this is ok as you could still see that the album is actually by "Tom" and then drilling down to the song i can then see both artists like @Andrewilley pointed out.
  10. I have no idea what you just said. Lol If i have artist as "Tom; Bob" does it show the song under two separate artists "Tom" and "Bob" or is there a third artist with "Tom; Bob" or does it just show up under "Bob" and "Tom" as "Bob; Tom". The other question is how do you know who the actual lead artist is of the song? Do you still have the options to "see album artist instead of artist"? So if i had that same song with "Bob; Tom" tagged with album artist "Tom". Could i just see "Tom" both places it is split? Or am i way off? If i tag "Bob; Tom" in album artist, it splits the song under "Bob" and "Tom" in Artists instead of album artists category and you simply see the artist tag in Artists category. So many ways this could be lol
  11. I tried MusixMatch which has an overlay, but it was incredibly buggy. Best bet is for Poweramp to integrate a plug-in with an app like MusixMatch.
  12. I mean it's pretty cool. But honestly i can't even find regular lyrics for 1/4 of the 13,000 songs in my library. Let alone synced lyrics. I think I'd be lucky to find 10%. I'm not sure there is enough resources to make this a good feature yet. They need to develop an app that can auto sync and transcribe by analyzing the song.
  13. New update broke my player screen. The artist and album title is pushed down for some reason and overlapped. I tried every option i could find fur over an hour and i can't change it. I installed the free version and it had no problem there but now I'm missing features. I only updated to play with the fonts and i wish i hadn't because I can't uninstall updates for whatever reason and now i can not go back. I can't remember what version i was using before the update, i haven't updated since you sent me a previous version in August of 2019 (that update caused significant lag on my wifes phone). I'm thinking it was around 109. How do i get an older version back? $yaps$ v122 YAPS free V110 Version i was using
  14. Obviously any genre can feature artists... my library consists of over 13,000 songs and roughly 40% is hip hop and the rest being some form of rock. I would have to say nearly every hip hop album has at least 6 or more multiple artists features where maybe one out of five rock albums features one single multiple artist feature on average. The genres are not really even in the same ball park. There's really a major difference in library congestion when you have albums that have features on nearly half the songs versus 1 feature every few albums.
  15. I think the developer is working on Multiple Artists for the next set of Beta releases... This is HUGE so I'm anxious for that. "Browse by Genre...then by Artist....then by Album" is #2 on my list. If these two are successfully implemented, I couldn't care less if any other feature requests were ever fulfilled. 😄
  16. This is exactly how I know the developer and admin does NOT listen to Hip Hop. Multiple Artists would have been developed years ago, if they did. This is done for the same reason i've been doing this for years: no Multiple artists support in the Artist field. If you listen to primarily hip hop, nearly every album will have half a dozen to two dozen features randomly throughout the album. All of that is normally tagged in the Artist field. So just looking at one album results in that many separate listings for artists. Adding an artist like Eminem or Dr. Dre in Poweramp, is a ridiculous amount of congestion with no cohesiveness (in certain categories). It renders those categories unusable. You could have 1000 albums in your library, but you'll end up with 10,000 listings. To get around this, you have to move your featured artists into the song title. This also renders the Composer category completely useless for me or anyone who listens to hip hop. If you have one hip hop album with 15 songs, you're most likely getting 15 different composer assortments just for that album alone. It may have 1 producer on each song, but co-produced by someone different each time. 1000 songs in your hip hop library will result in close to 1000 listings for composer. LOL I am exaggerating a bit but it's not a usable category for Hip Hop libraries (without multiple composer support). I'm not too concerned with this category working with Multiple Composer option as it would take a ridiculous amount of time to find information on each song and get them tagged correctly (especially for hip hop, if info is even available). I usually remove all of the composers and only leave my favorites, just so the category is usable for me.
  17. I find it more confusing and time consuming to search the settings to enable a function just to test how it works. Like customizing skins and "view album artist instead of artist" options. It seems much quicker and easier to find the way Max is talking about setting it up. There's lots of confusing options in Poweramp. The best way to understand them is to test them out. Some people will actually prefer to have both versions enabled at the same time also. I would like both. Not adding advanced features because dumb people exist should never be an option. That's what they make an iphone for. For the easily confused people. 8P
  18. This would only work if you do not use any of the "view album artist instead of artist" options, otherwise you would not see any of those multiple artists. You would only see album artist tag as usual everywhere. This wouldn't bother me. I would continue to tag those artists in the song title after "feat".
  19. I think this circles me right back around to confusion and chaos of this isn't done right. If i have a song tagged as Artist "Linkin park; Hybrid Theory; Chester Bennington; Mike Shinoda" do i see all of that when in a list or playing a song? In this instance i dont want to see all of that, i just want them linked and to show Hybrid Theory as the artist. Now say i have a song from the same album and it features a few guest artists on it. Do you tag the additional artists and see all of that as one massive artist line? I want to actually see the featured guests. I think for me, it makes sense you have the Artist tag as the splitter and you see the Album Artist as the actual artist when in lists and playing so you don't see all of the unnecessary tags. You could say you now tag the featured guests in the Album Artist tag and then you can see that. But I'm not sure how you get around Poweramp grouping these as separate albums in an artist list. For me, i tag everything in Artist i want split (including guests) and i add the the guests as "feat." In the song title. I only ever see the "Album Artist" as the artist of the song. Then Poweramp doesn't split them and i will have my multiple artists everywhere.
  20. I also agree 100% Album Artist tag should ALWAYS displayed if present.
  21. I agree with this 100%. Who do you see the artist as when in an album list?
  22. How do you guys foresee this listing all artists of the track? Say your song is tagged Artist: Eminem; Dr. Dre; Snoop Dogg, Album Artist: Eminem How do I see the second and third artist when viewing the song in any list? Obivously the song would show up in the Artist category for Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg. But how do you see all of the artists tagged in the song? It seems as if when viewing a song, you need to see the Artist tag "Eminem; Dr. Dre; Snoop Dogg" and see the album listed as the Album Artist tag "Eminem". Another reason I can't see how multiple artists would work in both Artist and Album Artist tags at the same time. You would have to loose the ability to see all artists tagged in the songs. If you had the song tagged Artist: Eminem Album Artist: Eminem; Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, then again, it's the same scenario flipped. You need to only see the Artist tag for album, and Album Artist tag for song to see all 3 artists. You have to do one or the other. If Poweramp split both, it would take some serious processing power to debug all of the duplicates when generating lists to make Poweramp not show 3 albums under each artist or album artist.
  23. I would say this and genre listing albums instead of artists is the only two things holding this app from hands down the best app in every way.
