It's an optional setting, in Settings=>Headset/Bluetooth=>Ignore Bluetooth Commands. Just set it to zero.
Andre
Thanks and changed. I'll keep tabs on it.

I know there were changes to bluetooth connection delay waiting for start. Since 981, android 13 and Moto 5G stylus (2022) in my car about half the time I'll start the car and the display will show the current track title but play doesn't start. I must take the phone out of my pocket and hit the start button in the Poweramp app. The start button on the console of my car does nothing, only the start button in the app on my phone will resume playback.

I had a problem like this back in about 2003 with MP3 files that I'd ripped using Nero FHG encoder and VBR with highest quality settings. I did find a program called VBRFix that would analyze whole folders and correct the duration for each track. I now use DBPoweramp and LAME for MP3's, still VBR highest quality settings and track timings are spot on.

My guess is that the determination would be made as a part of the act of adding to the Queue. In addition if any type of shuffle is turned on for the Queue it pretty much mandates track gain. If no type of shuffle is active PA would know if it was an album that was selected to be added to the Queue, If Album set album gain. If another album is added set album gain. If track added set track gain for that track. and so on. I think all this would happen as stuff is added to the Queue rather than while the Queue is playing.

I guess it might be possible to create some sort of convoluted logic process whereby when playing any given song from the Queue or a Playlist, before applying the Replay Gain choice PA could quickly check the next file and/or previous file in the list, and if it sees the same Album Title and Album Artist tags, use Album Gain mode?
Andre
Since Album Gain is intended to have multiple albums play at similar volumes without affecting the relative volumes of tracks within an album, I would guess it wouldn't be quite as simplistic as you say. Perhaps Max could look at the open source of SlimServer (Logitech Media Server) to see how they implement "smart gain" that applies the correct gain type based on what's in the Queue.
-
I guess we will just agree to disagree as in my use case I load the Queue with mostly albums.
-
This item in the Feature request poll should have "Queue" removed from being forced to Track Gain. I, for one, generally load a bunch of selected albums to the Queue for driving in the car and also when using headphones for stuff like walks, yardwork, etc. I would hope that if "Smart Replay Gain" were implemented, the Queue would be treated no differently than category type play (that I never use).
-
@andrewilley Thanks, that works.

Looking through the list of the Feature Request Voting list there's bracketed "[LINK LINK ...]. Are these words "LINK" supposed to be clickable to go to the actual Feature Request? Or if these are for something else, what is it?

Ah, the "Emperor's New Audio Player" marketing method...
Andre
Now that's funny! And I totally agree.

Logitech Media Server is by far the best and most robust music player for PC. If you go this route be sure to install the Material Skin available in the Plugins which puts a skin on LMS that's very similar to the Poweramp interface. LMS is available for just about any OS except Android and iOS. Here's a wiki...

I believe that this is on the consolidated Feature Request list. If Max decides to implement I would hope he'd ask for input on how this would work.

Does your new phone have Playstore access? If so, just buy it again, it's cheap and can be used on any device you own that uses the same playstore id. Money well spent!

@slizzap Must be dependant on Android version. I'm on Poweramp 976 and Android 13.

There is no such setting. That's why I figured you were referring to the 3 settings I listed above.

Keep Service. You need to scroll the Notifications screen down to reveal the Keep Service item.

What about "Keep Service" like I referenced earlier.

Just watched the announcement of the new ROLLING STONES studio album titled “Hackney Diamonds” with Jimmy Fallen. They have a new music video of the track titled “Angry”;
You can watch Jimmy’s announcement interview with Mick, Keith and Ronnie here. There’s a countdown at the start that you have to wait through.
Here’s a CBS news article that came out yesterday about the new album.
We have to wait until late October to get the album, but I went ahead and pre-ordered from the Rolling Stones Official store.

An alternative to PA on a PC to drive one or more stereo systems would be Logitech media server
My Media - Welcome to mysqueezebox.com!
You will need to either load squeezelite-X on the PC as the renderer or you could build a PiCore player from a Raspberry Pie and a audio hat
This is the most robust music playing / management platform I've ever used. Poweramp is a great android music player / manager for my phone and car, but for home music Logitech Media Server can't be beat.

Just as a follow-up. Now that I've set the AudioTrack Output buffer and size the same as I have in OpenSL ES the hitches are gone! If it magically switches back to Open SL I've left those buffer settings as they were, just copied the OpenSL setting to AudioTrack and all is well.
-
Do you have Look and Feel-> Notifications->Keep Service enabled? Don't know if it will help, but it's supposed to keep PA service loaded when idle.
-
@rhodesmkI had the situation like the OP describes. I had Bluetooth configured in PA to resume on connection. If in the car I switched from Bluetooth audio to FM radio it would stop the music. If I then shut off the car and then later restarted the car the radio would play fine as it should. But Poweramp would also start playing music into the bit bucket even though the car head unit was playing FM radio. I changed the Bluetooth setting to no resume on connection and it corrected the issue. When the car is set to Bluetooth audio and I start the car the head unit issues a Play command and Poweramp resumes where it left off when I shut the car off.

Thanks for the reply. Odd, I went to Settings / Audio / Output as you suggested and found that somehow output had changed from OpenSL ES which I had set at 100ms x 7 to AudioTrack Output. I've now set the AudioTrack Output to match what I had set for OpenSL ES and next time I'm in the car I'll see if that fixes my "hitches". A side note question is what's the difference between OpenSL ES and AudioTrack Output and which one would you use? All my music is MP3 VBR ripped using DBPowerAmp -V 0 -q 0 16/44 with ReplyGain for both Album and track.

Thanks for the reply! I have no restrictions and battery saver is shut off. This just started again with the last couple of releases. This happened before and then a following release fixed it. And generally when I use my phone in the car for bluetooth music (not android auto) my phone is fully charged so I doubt any kind of battery throttling would be occurring. The "hitching" (along with another issue I was having) happened back in release 956 reported here and you had me test with version 957 before you made it GA and it corrected the "hitching" along with my other issue.

I shut that one off because if I got in the car and it was on radio PA would start playing music into the bit bucket. 🙄
