  1. I appreciate the extensive reply, thanks maxmp! On XDA forums for my device, there are a couple of custom ROMs such as LineageOS 16.0 (unofficial) and Ressurrection Remix (official). In each thread I asked other users check if the custom firmwares have 3.5mm Hi-Res output support enabled. If this device had a MediaTek SoC, who is well known to not open source drivers and patches, I would give up, but I believe having a Qualcomm chip makes things easier.
  2. If a device hardware supports Hi-Res audio output, but it's not implemented in the stock ROM Audio Policy configuration file, is it just a matter of having root access and adding some lines to it in order to enable this feature? Or I need to flash a custom ROM with Hi-Res support implemented? In my case, my device has 24-bit/192kHz output enabled for for Bluetooth and USB DAC, but not for Wired headphone/AUX.
  3. I can only get Hi-Res output with Bluetooth and USB DAC. Info: 1. Moto G6 Plus (XT1926-8 evert) 2. Android 9.0 stock retbr build PPWS29.116-16-6 3. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1rDAVQz-hmEFjcQqmCaH1xK-2GfAbo99v/view?usp=drivesdk https://www.qualcomm.com/products/snapdragon-630-mobile-platform Audio Playback Playback Dynamic Range: 130dB Total Harmonic Distortion + Noise (THD+N), Playback: -109dB Sampling, Playback: 44.1kHz, 48kHz PCM, Playback: Up to 192kHz/24bit Amplifier output power: Up to 4WS peaker protection: Speaker protection
  4. It's okay, thanks for the reply anyway. By the way, which file explorer app are you using?
  5. I can't, I don't have access to either /etc or /system folders without root. I tried with Root Explorer and Solid Explorer, and I only have access up to /storage directory. I read the complaint from another user with the same device as mine. I may root this device in the future, but as it voids warranty and this is a new device, unfortunately I can't do it right now. If someone has a Moto G6 Plus running Android 9.0 and is rooted, I'd be very grateful if you could upload audio_policy.conf from your device. Maybe only installing a custom ROM will enable software Hi-Res output?
  6. Does anyone with a Moto G6 Plus on Android 9.0 have Hi-Res Support on build 836? OpenSL ES Hi-Res Output only lists Bluetooth and USB DAC. My device isn't rooted, thus I don't have access to audio_policy.conf file. This device has Snapdragon 630, which has 24-bit/192 kHz DAC according to Qualcomm. I wonder if Motorola just didn't implement high resolution support into the software.
