I think he is serious about work, but his point is that this is not work in the way you mean it, it's crowd sourcing. Andre

I think what andrei1015 is pointing out is that you and your possible local colleague AbhiAvi have (repeatedly) misunderstood crowd-sourced translation. People do it because they like the product and would like to see it displayed in their own language. They do not do it for monetary or other in-kind gain, unless employed by the developer in advance. The fact that you keep asking the same question anyway appears to be what he is being a little jokey about. Andre

I think andrei1015 means read back a few posts. By the way, do you know forum user AbhiAvi, as oddly enough your IP address translates to the same ISP and location as his.... Andre

I agree, plugins would be the way to do. I just bought a Chromecast a few days ago, and am trying to work out what to do with it. Not a lot so far it seems, unless you subscribe to streaming media services (which I don't). Andre

Yes, you can download the Google Play version of Unlocker on another device, as long as you are using the same Google account and Play. Andre

Agreed, I would find it very useful too. However this has been asked for since about the first release of the app I think, but no signs of it being added yet. Andre

I seem to recall Max saying something about Poweramp back-searching the filenames, which would help with the differing root file systems but only if you use the same folders within your 'music' location. Andre
-
It will work with just the filenames, and no other #EXTINF etc lines in the M3U file, by the way. You can also use relative paths if you like (which are based from the same location where you store the playlist file) but absolute paths are fine too as long as they are edited as above. It may sound complicated, but it's really just a couple of Search & Replaces. Andre
-
Something as simple as Notepad will do it, or any other text editor, if you don't mind a bit of cut'n'pasting or typing. The most basic format of an M3U playlist file is just a list of filenames with optional paths. If you export a playlist from another program (such as Media Player) then it will work, but you need to be careful of hard-coded paths (such as "C:\Users\<name>\Music\") which won't exist on your phone, so you'll need to edit them to make the paths relative to your phone's directory structure. See post #2 above. Basically, "Shuffle All" can play any song at all from your library, in any order. "Shuffle Songs, Shuffle Lists" first chooses an album or folder and then plays that album's entire contents (in random order), then it randomly chooses another album/folder and does the same again, etc. Andre

Play your playlist with "Shuffle Songs, Lists in Order" mode enabled. Leave Repeat set to Off if you don't want the next playlist to be played after all of the songs in the current list have been shuffle-played. Andre

Poweramp App Instructions - How to do stuff...?
andrewilley replied to derwhite's topic in Using Poweramp - Q&A
Go to Poweramp's Menu, select "Settings", then select "Folders and Library", then "Music Folders". You can choose which folders Poweramp is allowed to use for music playback, and untick anything you don't want. You may need to then do a "Full Rescan" (in the same menu) to fully update the song list. Andre -

I've often wondered what people use A-B Repeat for in the real world, but a lot of people do seem to want it. I've had it on CD players, etc since they were invented in the 80s, but not once in my life have I actually used it! I just can't see why I'd want to repeat-play a short portion of a track in casual everyday use. Sure for editing purposes, but not on a regular player. Max: if you were to implement this, it might fit in well with the revised playback options that we were discussing a year ago? Just add an extra seventh option, thus: Play One Song Play Current List Play All Lists Repeat Current Song Repeat Current List Repeat All Lists Repeat A-B If the user selects the Repeat A-B option, that would define the current playback position as the 'in' point, and the option wording would change to Repeat A-B (set endpoint). When the endpoint has similarly been selected, the track would repeat continuosly between A and B until the user selects a different option. Long-press on Pause button (i.e. Stop) could revert to the previously selected playback mode. Thoughts? Andre

Autostart playing music when Poweramp is started
andrewilley replied to sergey04704's topic in Poweramp Feature Requests
So how does the sound get from Poweramp to your car speakers? Normally that would either be via cable (headset socket) or via Bluetooth, either of which can trigger playback start. Andre -
Autostart playing music when Poweramp is started
andrewilley replied to sergey04704's topic in Poweramp Feature Requests
Do any of the autostart playback options in the Headset menu help? Does the device link to the car audio system via bluetooth or by headset cable? Whichever, try setting that mode to "Resume on Connect" in Settings > Headset. Andre -
Nor me, I've actually often wondered what it could be useful for. It's got to be a trivial bit of code, but I can't for the life of me think why I'd want to repeat some random bit of one song which could only be relatively coarsely selected anyway. Andre

A repeat mode where you set the in and out points within one track, and it keeps playing that section. Andre

Keeping audiobooks out of the shuffle list
andrewilley replied to mamarley's topic in Poweramp Feature Requests
This has been asked many times, and hopefully better long-file support is coming in version 3. Max/Wen, is there a general outline of what is planned to be implemented in this area, and how you see it working from an end-user point of view? For the record, I would suggest something along the following lines: A new 'Long Audio Track Options' submenu in the 'Folders and Library' category (or could be called 'Audiobooks/Podcasts/Spoken Word'). This should contain: Folders List <--- This would display a folder tree showing all the currently selected MusicFolders, with tickboxes to chose which of these folders should be treated specially as containing 'long tracks' (or whatever the term eventually becomes). Nested folders should auto-select with the parent folder. Genres <--- A list of genres to always treat as 'long tracks', with tickboxes beside each one (e.g. 'Audiobook', 'Podcast', 'Radio', 'Spoken Word', etc). This could probably be simplified to a Yes/No option actually, covering all of the common genres in one go. Track Length <--- Selects the number of minutes that any random track needs to be in order to also be considered as a 'long track'. Skip Tracks in Shuffle mode? (Y/N) <--- The requested feature above, i.e. to skip podcasts/audiobooks/etc when listing to random music in Shuffle mode. Remember Previous Playback Positions? (Y/N) <--- As a lot of these tracks can be several hours long, allows the user to go off and listen to something else in the meantime and then come back to any podcast/audiobook exactly where they left off. Have I missed anything obvious that people might want? (I also think new Skip Back <nnn> Seconds and Skip Forward <nnn> Seconds options should be available for all songs, rather than only for audiobook/podcasts, although they will be most useful for these longer formats). Just my $0.02 anyway, hope it's useful. Andre -
Hmm, try Shuttle Songs, Lists In Order and turn the Repeat mode to List (keeps playing the randomised folder repeatedly). Andre
-
Yeah, this concept of 'lists' is confusing a few people - it's a kind of generic term to cover folders, albums, artists, etc - basically whatever you've currently got requested as your 'top-level' sort order. I use folder mode, and the Shuffle terms translate as follows (but the same idea applies if you categorise by abums, artists, etc): Off - No shuffling. Play all files (tracks) within the first folder (or album or artist) in order, then play the next folder/album/artist in sequence, etc. All (aka Shuffle All Songs) - Completely random, any file/track from any folder/album/artist can be played next. Songs (aka Shuttle Songs, Lists In Order) - Folders/Albums/Artists are chosen in the correct order, but all the files/tracks within each folder/album/artist will be randomised. Lists (aka Shuffle Lists, Songs in Order) - Folders/Albums/Artists are chosen at random, but the files/tracks within each of those folders/albums/artists are player in the correct original order. Lists/Songs (aka Shuffle Songs, Shuffle Lists) - A folder/ablum/artist is chosen at random and then all of the files/tracks within that folder/ablum/artist are played at random, then a new folder/ablum/artist is chosen (at random) and its contents are played in random order, etc. At least, I think that's how it works!
