  2. [I've moved this discussion out from the Build 981 Release thread, as it has nothing to do with issues with that particular build] I think the original problem here is that from the 'Year' Category you then drilled down into '2020', which would show you any albums that are notionally treated as being from 2020. Remember that in cases where varying songs which quality as being from the same Album have different Year tags (e.g. Collections or Best-Of albums) Poweramp has to just make a best assumption as to which year it should to assign the whole Album grouping to. When you then drill down to view one Album - in this case, due to the limited tagging, you selected 'Unknown Album' - you would see all of the songs that fall into the Album referred to as 'Unknown Album' (regardless of their Genre, Year, Artist, etc). The Album level would no longer be filtered to show 2020 songs only. If you want to only see songs which have a definitive tag for 2020, once you have opened the Year in question, ignore the album titles and tap on 'All Year Songs' at the top instead. Every song in the resulting list should be from 2020. Personally, I have almost no songs with null Album or Album Artist tags by the way. I give them a fake name for sorting purposes, to avoid ending up with Album items with just one song inside. I have several generic Album names I use - such as "(Singles)" for most rock/pop stuff, "(Film Music)", "(TV Themes)", "(Musicals)", etc. I enclose the names in brackets by the way, so they get sorted at the start of Album lists rather than being stuck somewhere randomly in the middle of a long list of real album names. Andre
  3. That would blow the list of albums (in Poweramp and other library-based players) out of proportions.
  4. Why not use the song title then for the album name in your tag? Effectively, an album comprising 1 track with the song title as the album name, along with all the other tags filed in accordingly; Artist, Album Artist, Year, etc.
  5. I am afraid you dont understand the situation. There are cases when I like a single track on an album. That is when I dont keep an entire album on my storage. And since I do not want the single song to make impression in my library that I have an entire album, I leave tags related to album empty. Sure, most of these songs were released on an album and I can find out this information on Wikipedia or Discogs, but I do not want my library to take this information in account. Do you suggest to change tagging of such songs? How specifically?
  6. > And I have my tags done thoroughly. Well I'd say that's certainly up for debate! No track number#, album name, or album artist, in a folder view nested in '2020' year category, that is an unknown album, containing one song (but also dozens), by 50 cent.. I don't think thorough means what you think it means.
  7. Hi, first of all thank you very much to the developers for this excellent audio player, long time user here and I have nothing yet to complain about Poweramp. That said, I'd like to suggest a new setting in widget customization menu for Album Art color/saturation control. It's nothing but a aesthetically relevant request yet would improve the way I can personalize my home screen. Quick example would be this home screen, note how well the album art fits with my home screen background, It would be handy to have a Saturation setting to make all my covers look black and white and always fit my screen theme!.
  8. This is a non-album track. It is placed in V.A. folder with dozens of other tracks from different artists and years. Album tags are empty in these files. Album Artist tags are filled with "No Album Artist[s]". Could this be the cause? I decided to share another, free track, in its original folder structure (Music.zip), with the same problem, so everybody can check all MP3 tags and file specs on his side. I see no reason to categorize this track to year "2020" in Poweramp. It has to be a bug or flawed feature of the app. Music.zip
  9. This song is listed under an album where the header clearly shows the year as 2020. What tags are you using to show these separately? A single album cannot have different release dates.
  10. Hi. I have a bug report. 1997 song is categorized in year 2000 library section. It's not an isolated incident. And I have my tags done thoroughly. I'm looking forward to new build! 🙂

  12. You may not be able to access that folder hierarchy natively on Android 14+ (Google restrictions) but you can still connect your phone to a computer using a USB cable and open an explorer window on the PC. Others
  13. @mr sam You've seem to have done what you need to. Set the High-Res Output frequency to the maximum you need, and everything will be played using that setting. Lower quality source material will be upscaled, there is no "output follows source" option as yet. Once your account allows, you can upvote this as a feature request: Andre
  14. I am having trouble to use it with DAC... i use Questyle M15 , 24bit tracks changes light from green to red in USB Player Pro but in Poweramp it just stays green , means doesnt provide actual lossless ,, i tried manually changing the sample bit rate in hi - res output but it just upscales all tracks to 24bit ... what can i do??
  16. @Luke777 it may take a while. Please check under Criteria>Ratings and see if the numbers have chaged Secondly as I indicated there will be a logfile in playlist_manager keeping track and there may also be a notification in the top
  17. Cool thanks Now I have given permission to "playlist_manager" and "Music" folders Then ... Tags and Ratings > "Update Poweramp rating from tag" It says "Updating Poweramp ratings in backgroud" but I see no progress bar or status? When I go back to Poweramp after a few hours I cannot see any ratings
  18. It says that selecting those later items will mean the backup is not compatible with OLD builds of Poweramp, it's fine for recent builds. The new format of backup file (which is more of a ZIP archive, containing lots of extra stuff such as Ratings, Album Art files, List Memory settings, etc) uses a filename extender of .poweramp-settings, whereas the old simpler backup file wrote/read .poweramp-backup files. From memory, it was around 2+ years ago that those new export/import features were added - so as long as you're not trying to go back to seriously old archive builds of Poweramp which can only read/write the original backup format, you'll be fine. Remember that not everything about your setup will be restored - for example 'Date Added to Library' for all files will be reset to the new reinstall date, and restored internal playlist names will now include the restore date in their names. Hence my suggestion to just use a different skin in the meantime. Andre
  19. if you check any of the rest of the options it is not compatible with older versions

  23. Seeing a lot of strange behaviour. I think this is all related to Android OS and probably not Poweramp, but I will lodge these issues here. I hop in my car and turn the car on. The bluetooth connects. Sometimes Poweramp will begin playing music without issue, as it should. Sometimes it doesn't. It just sits there connected to Bluetooth and doesn't play. When Poweramp is playing music in the car successfully, after a while, at random, the car will start playing audio through the Phone call profile, but still my car speakers. It's as if I'm on a call and the music is playing on a call. The headunit says "Phone" instead of "BT Audio". I cancel the "call" using my steerging wheel...hangup and then it swtiches to Bluetooth, but audio doesn't play automatically. If I press play on PA on my phone the pause icon changes to play for a second then reverts back to Pause. Then I press it again and it starts playing music. Very frustrating.
  24. I agree. I think this is probably an Android issue, not a car/headunit issue. I have a Mazda 3 Neo 2013. I wonder if Max could upstream this issue to Google and work with them for a fix instead of trying to work around the issue in Poweramp and leaving the problem in Android.

  26. All backup options exported from 981 will be compatible for importing back into the previous stable release (976). Or just use a different skin in the meantime. Andre
  27. When exporting settings/data it tells you what will/won't be compatible with older builds.
