Reverb and echo after headphones plugged in or notification comes through.

For some reason every time I plug my headphones in or get a txt, call or notification Poweramp decides to go into full reverb mode, and echos like I'm in a large hall. I've racked my brains and tried everything till the point that I had to come here. I love the app but and don't want to get rid of it as its pretty much perfect apart from this. The only way I can get around it is restart the phone (one + 3 ) with my headphones plugged in.... But then a couple minutes later when a notification comes through its back to reverb mode. Really frustrating as its just such a good player but this is destroying it for me. About to give up but thought I'd give a try on here. Any help would be really appreciated.
