      Poweramp v3 Project Update   04/24/2017

As you may be aware, the Poweramp developer has been working hard on an updated material design user interface for Poweramp v3 which required a full ground-up rebuild of the code and is taking some time to get to a beta-test stage. See the forum thread for more details and to discuss.

  1. On first launch i am able to see some folders, but then it brings me back to the play menu, then i try to get back to folders and then it totally FCs and on next load it makes me send a bug report. This thing happens both on v2 and v3. Idk if it is important, but prior to that i formated the internal storage and clean installed a custom rom. Before that i've never seen such a bug. Plz help
  2. hi. I have selected folders in my music folder to show up. it's there a way to have only the root folder be listed (and not all the folders inside all the music folders)? I don't see see a setting where I can control level of folders that to be displayed (only root folder or root +1 folder level inside root folder, etc.) thanks so much in advance.
  3. Hello, I think it would be nice to have an option to see the full name of the folder, or at least a bit more, in the folder view. For some artists that have a bigger name, I can't see the album's name, so I see many folders with only the artist's name. I think that would be cool. Thanks!
  4. Is there any way to play a folder of music, but have playback stop automatically once the folder s completed? Whenever I play a folder of music, Poweramp just jumps to the next folder and keeps going until I manually stop playback, which is inconvenient if I just want to listen to an album and then let playback stop automatically. I know a playlist could accomplish this, but I don't want to have to stop down and create a playlist every time I simply want to listen to a small set of songs.
  5. Hi, I am on 2.0.10 build 588-play Full Version. and on 3.0 beta! I accidently created a playlist of nearly 100.000 titles. I can not delete this list. When I push the "x" button PA waits a few seconds and goes then to the main screen. The Playlist is still there. No big deal, but still a bug. I could help myself if someone would tell me where and in what format PA stores playlists. Seems to be a mystery. I created a playlist and then looked for the name in my explorer, without success. My device is rooted.
  6. Hi! Can I play music from network folder ? Or only local ? Thanks
  7. When I go to view the folders, it seems to show me literally every folder scanned by Poweramp. However, I only want the top level folders shown. For example, I have folder_artist1 as a folder and folder_artist2 as another folder. Inside folder_artist1, I have several folders such as folder_albums, folder_singles, folder_live, etc. For folder_artist2, I have something similar. When I go to view the folders, I only want to see folder_artist1 and folder_artist2--I don't want to see a bunch of subfolders listed alongside these two "root" level folders.
  8. I am no longer able to keep folder selection for play to stay only in that folder. It automatically jumps to all the folders that are available. This is one of the key features that I used and why I have been using Power Amp.
  9. Hello, I need a little help. I bought a 64 GB card for my mobile phone, filled it with lots of music and want to create my playlist and so on. I started to scan but Poweramp is quiet not sure how many folders with music they are, with every rescan the number of folders is changing. I tried with another app, this app told me there are 787 Folder , Poweramp change it by every rescan. To make sure that is not a difference in the folder display, I also compared the number of tracks.Poweramp is showing less (between 5000 and 7000) than die other app (8089). Has anybody experience with this sort of problem? Has Poweramp a problem with more than 500 Folder or is it not working with a full 64GB sd card? By the way, I use a Samsung Galaxy S3 with cynogenmod. Best regards Maurawani
  10. Hi, I just installed Poweramp, and have it set to folder view > hierarchy. I would like to play (preferably shuffle) the contents of a single folder (or a folder containing other folders) and have playback stop when said contents have been played. Is this possible? (I have messed with settings as well as searched this site without finding what I'm looking for.) Currently, when I tell Poweramp to shuffle the contents of a folder, it does so, and then starts playing music from some other random folder. The only workaround(s) that I'm seeing is either to use the sleep timer (I haven't used it yet but I would assume this is something that stops playback after a set period of time) or to create a playlist of a folder's contents, assuming Poweramp stops playback when the contents of a playlist have been played. Neither of these options are ideal, and I would assume there is a way to do what I'm trying to do. Help!
  11. It would be useful if there was the possibility to mark one folder as the audiobook-folder. So that all sub folders won't show up in the music section & the general playlists (there could also be another section in options because you don't need crossfade in audiobooks or a random playback order)
  12. Hi Folks, I'm using Poweramp since about three weeks now and I'm preatty impressed! But there is one thing wich prevents me from buying the full version: I'm using the player only in my car where I connect it via bluetooth to the cars audio system. Unfortunately the player doesn't provide playlists, folders, Song-List and so on... So I can't scroll through the songs or search for songs using the interface of my audiosystem in the car and I have to use the phone instead. The stock mp3 player from my phone provides everything. So am I doing something wrong or isn't that feature available? I'm using Android 5.1.1 thanks for you help br
  13. I think it would be nice if the album art for each song were displayed next to its name when browsing MP3 files in folder view. This helps me find songs more quickly.
  14. Hello For some reason some folders in my library have the last character missing (for example: the folder "Spitalfield" shows as "Spitalfiel"). I have an OnePlus One with Android 4.4.4 (CM 11S) and Poweramp version 2.0.10 build 570 (Play Store). This bug is really annoying, so help would be really appreciated.
  15. On a virtual machine, my music is located in /mnt/shared/AndroidMusic. Poweramp only looks below /storage/emulated/0, and doesn't see my music. Any suggestions? Soft link?
  16. EDIT: Solved! Thanks! Downloading the version above fixed it Greets I use Poweramp to play my flac collection and have manually added folder art for each album as "front.jpg" or "cover.jpg" placed in each folder. I don't use id3 tags because they never sort properly. I prefer to sort by folder path with a subfolder for each album. That's why I use Poweramp on Android and Foobar2000 on windows. Up until the most recent versions (I believe there were 2 updates) folder artwork has been broken. I recall it being since the update stating that *.pamp files were no longer used to cache folder art. After this update it broke completely. Cover artwork in the player still works fine without any issues, it's only when displaying folders. I've tried to change all the different album display settings, clear app cache, uninstall and reinstall, manually delete android\data\player folder but nothing works. I even tried to enable automatic downloading artwork but that didn't work either. I ended up with some albums correct but most duplicates of one album art for every folder. I think there is also another bug in the code with iterating loop where you retrieve album art. Could you please make it a priority to repair this feature? Is there any download where I can find the old apk version which used the *.pamp cache system? The *.pamp cache system wasn't perfect but atleast when it bogged up I was able to manually delete the pamp file to force a refresh. Now it won't work at all. Samsung Galaxy SIII-GTI9305 Android V4.3 stock rom (it worked on old version, same rom) 2.0.10-build-570-play (full version) Best Regards Nirklars Doesn't work: Works:
  17. In the FAQ concerning external SD suppoprt, it says "At this moment, we don't have requests for allowing root to the music app, as Poweramp, but if we get more requests, we can add this." I'm here to formally request this. I have a wireless SD card mounted as a CIFS share mounted in a /mnt folder, since mounting it to /sdcard/[whatever] does funny things with the way mounting is implemented in Android, like only certain things can see it. Poweramp did see it for a bit, but unless I'm on a fresh reboot and everything, it doesn't. Root Explorer can see the contents, but any other app it just shows up as empty. Mounting to a global root folder like /mnt/externalsd works much better, as everything can (potentially) see it. I'd love to see the ability to browse root folders to add to the library in Poweramp. I'm almost desperate -- if there's any way to compensate for this, like a nice donation, I'm willing to do so for this feature, as no one else seems to have it. VLC is indexing my library right now but it's still in beta so it's not going to be great, I can already tell. Thanks for your work!
  18. Please make the favorite songs only by folder... Because if we want a mix of every type of song, we make a playlist...... Thank you H

  20. First off this is my first post in this forum but I have been using Poweramp for a while now without any issues until now I have run into a small problem that I hope can be resolved. So basically the topic title says exactly what my issue is, I have mp3 music files stored on my rooted Nexus 5 device in a location that is not accessible to Poweramp. The location is accessible using a file manager such as ES File Explorer but Poweramp does not allow navigation to the location. Is there a way to force the path in Poweramp? Thanks. And thanks for the best music player app available for android.
  21. Hi guys, I am using a Nexus 5 device and using Google Play Music to sync my music files onto my Android device for offline play. However, I wish to use Poweramp for my music playback - this is proving to be a great challenge as I am unable to load the music files I synced using Google Play Music because the Play Music is storing its music files in a folder that's inaccessible through normal means (i.e. without root) Could anyone offer any advice/pointers on how to get Poweramp to load the library of music I downloaded from Google Play that does not involve copy/pasting the music into a folder that Poweramp can access? Thanks!
  22. I, like many users it seems, organize my music library through folders. My primary desktop music player/organizer, MediaMonkey, has an excellent feature where you can display all the songs contained below a folder, even if those songs are not directly contained in that folder. For example: My first folder level is sorted by gene, and after that by artist, after that by album. I would like to be able to play all the songs in my electronic genre folder, (not possible by using the library genre sort, as I have 20+ subgenre's of electronic music) instead of only being able to play one album at a time. Similarly, I would like to be able to play all the songs under an artist's folder, or any other folder that I wish, that may contain multiple subfolders. I have been a Poweramp user since I got my first android device 4 years ago. I hope others will find this as useful as I do, and that it adds value to an already outstanding product.
  23. Hello, I just handed in my bug report via the google form. This is what I posted: I have two Google Nexus devices, one older (Nexus S) and the new Nexus 7 (2013). On my Nexus S Poweramp works fine, but on the Nexus 7 folders do not get read in. I get this error message: Ordner sind nicht verfügbar. Bitte vergewissern Sie sich ob die SD-Karte bereitgestellt ist, die USB Massenspeicher Verbindung deaktiviert ist und Musikordner in den Einstellungen ausgewählt sind. Then I get 2 choices: Ordner auswählen and Automatische Suche. However, neither one works. I get a constant "Loading" message with a turning circle. As an update: After waiting for more than 5 minutes I suddenly got my folder structure with checkboxes. I chose a few I have music files in and clicked okay. However, in the "Poweramp Einstellungen" the first item (Neu einlesen) is grayed out and the loading circle continues turning. I still can't play any file/song. I would greatly appreciate your help. Regards jester
  24. Hello, I just purchased Poweramp, by far the best player on the market. After using it for quite some days I would like to ask for a feature if its not already available.(So far looks like it isn't) I organize my music by folders in hierarchy mode: +Music Subfolders: -Rock ; -Pop ; -R&B; -Metal etc For each of these genres there are subfolders with artists names: +Rock -Nirvana -Deep Purple -CCR etc. In each of these artists folders (who have no more subfolders but just songs), as folder image shows up a random album art from one of the songs in the folder.(usually the last edited one) Is it possible to costumize this image or leave it BLANK, just the way it is by default? (without messing up with Player UI albumarts who work just fine) If not, do you think its technically possible and would you please consider adding it going forward? Thanks and keep up the great work!
  25. I only discovered Poweramp last week, and I must say that I'm very impressed! Ease of use, sound quality, responsiveness, it's a hell of a thing. I've been using it with my car's BT audio controls. Most of the controls work, but a few don't, and I don't know if there's something I'm doing wrong, or if it's just something that hasn't been implemented. The car's audio controls include folder navigation buttons as well as random and repeat buttons. These don't seem to have any effect on Poweramp. Should they? I haven't tried fiddling with the single/double/triple press settings, but I think it'd be neat if the folder controls would be recognized. FYI it's the stock stereo that came in a 2013 Corolla.
