  2. Thank you for your thorough explanation and advice.
  3. @Loweaul Ah, OK, in which case yes I agree that the remaining selection list can become centred rather than being tethered closer to the bottom of the screen. Might be something to do with the keyboard popping up previously? Has no functional implication that I can see though, as the background elements are not accessible either way. For some reason it doesn't seem to happen all the time though - I can't get it to occur now for example. And some popup menus present themselves mid-screen anyway. e.g. the long-press popup shown on the Player Screen is text-oriented and in the middle of the screen, whereas the popup triggered by long-pressing in a list is a smaller icon-based format at the bottom (to allow you to still access and scroll the background list). If the background is not going to still be accessible, I think I prefer a centred approach, as tall as necessary/possible to avoid needless scrolling. Andre
  4. @andrewilley Oh, so what I meant a bug is that these movements I listed up there caused an issue of animation, in the normal situation, the "Playlist" area should fall down to the bottom of the screen after I cancel the "Add to Playlist" function, right? But as you can see in the video, it just floated in the middle of the screen, there was something wrong with the animation, yeah, in my opinion.

  6. Neat! Snappy, too. It does not (yet? 😉) snap to where the currently playing song resides in the category being viewed by user at that moment, just to what category it is being played from. There are of course situations where currently playing song may not reside in the library category user is viewing at that moment, such as when limited by insufficient metadata tags, or when in playlists (song may not be in playlists at all, or may be in multiple playlists), among other situations (my imagination falls short).
  7. As a follow-up to this - and in the "there's always something new to learn" department - I just accidentally discovered that there is already a function to do pretty much what you asked. If you long-press on the mini-player at the bottom of any library list view, you will be taken straight to the currently playing song. Andre
  8. @Loweaul Not quite sure why this is a bug? When you cancel the '+' function for creating/naming a new playlist, it just takes you back to the original screen for choosing existing playlist(s) instead. You can just close that screen if you want to cancel and leave the 'Add To Playlist' function completely. Andre
  9. Just accidentally found an issue, I was about to add a new song to my playlist, but then I tapped the wrong button, and it went like this (video down here). To reproduce it, 1: you select a random song, and hit the button "Add to Playlist" , 3: long press a playlist, 4: hit the button at the top right of the bar "Add New Playlist", and then you cancel it. Boom, the selection bar is floating in the middle of the screen. So the action 3 is crucial, the issue won't come out if you don't do it in the first place. Screenrecorder-2024-04-19-22-50-18-910.mp4
  10. @Luke777 it looks like you are doing it correct. Are you sure your tracks are ID3V2 format? ,Secondly have you checked the POPM tag holds the rating, not some other tag?
  11. I must be doing something wrong. In Poweramp: I got about 500 songs and 3 .m3u playlist with Poweramp for now (All in "Music" folder) In Playlist manager: Gave the app all permissions Added "playlist_manager" folder permission Added "Music" folder permission I've run "Update Poweramp rating from tag" for about 10 hours until the notification disappears. In Criteria > Rating : there's still 483 Tracks Not Rated (For the remaining tracks it's because I rated some manually in Poweramp earlier) The logfile in playlist_manager is named "popm2paError.log" and is 0 bytes.
  12. Some Bluetooth devices send their own resume commands upon establishing a connection, which can cause playback to commence just because a connection has been established. Most people do not want this behaviour, so there is an option for PA to ignore such instances for up to 10 seconds after connection, see Settings=>Headset/Bluetooth=>Ignore Bluetooth Commands. Set it to zero if you do want the headunit to assume control. Poweramp also has its own controls for restarting playback on connection, see Settings=>Headset/Bluetooth=>Resume On Bluetooth. Personally I would suggest ignoring whatever the headunit may (or may not) be sending, and use PA's own resume setting instead - which in theory should give you more consistent behaviour. If your vehicle supports it, Android Auto generally provides a better experience than just Bluetooth. Andre

  14. [I've moved this discussion out from the Build 981 Release thread, as it has nothing to do with issues with that particular build] From the 'Year' Category you drilled down into '2020', which would show you any albums that are notionally treated as being from 2020. Remember that in cases where songs from one album which have different Year tags (e.g. Collections or Best-Of albums) Poweramp has to make a best assumption as to which year it should choose to refer to the whole album. When you then drill down to view a single Album - in this case, due to the limited tagging, you selected 'Unknown Album' - you would see all of the songs in that album, regardless of the various Genre, Year, Artist, etc tags. The Album level view would no longer be filtered to show 2020 songs only, it would show the whole album. If you want to only see songs which have a specific tag of 2020, once you have opened the Year in question ignore the album titles and tap on 'All Year Songs' at the top instead. Every song in the resulting list should be from 2020. Personally, I have almost no songs with blank Album or Album Artist tags by the way. I give them a fake name for sorting purposes, to avoid ending up with albums in the list with just one song inside. I have several generic album names I use - such as "(Singles)" for most rock/pop stuff, "(Film Music)", "(TV Themes)", "(Musicals)", etc. I enclose the names in brackets by the way, so they get sorted at the start of Album lists rather than being stuck somewhere randomly in the middle of a long list of album names. Andre
  15. That would blow the list of albums (in Poweramp and other library-based players) out of proportions.
  16. Why not use the song title then for the album name in your tag? Effectively, an album comprising 1 track with the song title as the album name, along with all the other tags filed in accordingly; Artist, Album Artist, Year, etc.
  17. I am afraid you dont understand the situation. There are cases when I like a single track on an album. That is when I dont keep an entire album on my storage. And since I do not want the single song to make impression in my library that I have an entire album, I leave tags related to album empty. Sure, most of these songs were released on an album and I can find out this information on Wikipedia or Discogs, but I do not want my library to take this information in account. Do you suggest to change tagging of such songs? How specifically?
  18. > And I have my tags done thoroughly. Well I'd say that's certainly up for debate! No track number#, album name, or album artist, in a folder view nested in '2020' year category, that is an unknown album, containing one song (but also dozens), by 50 cent.. I don't think thorough means what you think it means.
  19. Hi, first of all thank you very much to the developers for this excellent audio player, long time user here and I have nothing yet to complain about Poweramp. That said, I'd like to suggest a new setting in widget customization menu for Album Art color/saturation control. It's nothing but a aesthetically relevant request yet would improve the way I can personalize my home screen. Quick example would be this home screen, note how well the album art fits with my home screen background, It would be handy to have a Saturation setting to make all my covers look black and white and always fit my screen theme!.
  20. This is a non-album track. It is placed in V.A. folder with dozens of other tracks from different artists and years. Album tags are empty in these files. Album Artist tags are filled with "No Album Artist[s]". Could this be the cause? I decided to share another, free track, in its original folder structure (Music.zip), with the same problem, so everybody can check all MP3 tags and file specs on his side. I see no reason to categorize this track to year "2020" in Poweramp. It has to be a bug or flawed feature of the app. Music.zip
  21. This song is listed under an album where the header clearly shows the year as 2020. What tags are you using to show these separately? A single album cannot have different release dates.
  22. Hi. I have a bug report. 1997 song is categorized in year 2000 library section. It's not an isolated incident. And I have my tags done thoroughly. I'm looking forward to new build! 🙂
  23. You may not be able to access that folder hierarchy natively on Android 14+ (Google restrictions) but you can still connect your phone to a computer using a USB cable and open an explorer window on the PC. Others
  24. @mr sam You've seem to have done what you need to. Set the High-Res Output frequency to the maximum you need, and everything will be played using that setting. Lower quality source material will be upscaled, there is no "output follows source" option as yet. Once your account allows, you can upvote this as a feature request: Andre
  25. I am having trouble to use it with DAC... i use Questyle M15 , 24bit tracks changes light from green to red in USB Player Pro but in Poweramp it just stays green , means doesnt provide actual lossless ,, i tried manually changing the sample bit rate in hi - res output but it just upscales all tracks to 24bit ... what can i do??
