Poweramp lockscreen controls not working on galaxy s8

so the galaxy s8 comes with a lockscreen widget that serves as a control for music players such as the built in one, Poweramp, etc

problem is that that widget's player controls don't work on Poweramp (i tested them with the built in music player and there they work just fine leading me to believe that this is a player issue)

i'd just use the notification but it doesn't show on the lockscreen at all which is really annoying

also my phone isn't even a galaxy s8 it's just an s7 edge running a port of the s8 software but i didn't know where to post about this issue so i thought i'd put it here
