      Poweramp v3 Project Update   04/24/2017

As you may be aware, the Poweramp developer has been working hard on an updated material design user interface for Poweramp v3 which required a full ground-up rebuild of the code and is taking some time to get to a beta-test stage. See the forum thread for more details and to discuss.

  1. Just downloaded Poweramp - Great app I am slowly finding my way around, but have come unstuck when setting up a queue when there is nothing currently playing. I've modified the settings to play queue immediately a track is added, but it doesn't do that. I have to go into Queue select the track - long hold and select play. Once the queue is playing, I can add other tracks and it all works fine. Have I missed something? I expected the queue to play after the first track is added, or play a new track that has been added after the current queue has finished playing. Still evaluating, but this looks very good.
  2. I work a lot with the queue to quickly adjust my music to the mood of the listeners. For example, I first play a complete folder or playlist, usually by random. Then I sometimes search for one or more matching titles and paste them into the queue. The titles from the queue are then to be interrupted by the folder playback and played until the queue is empty. The already played titles were then grayed in the queue. In Poweramp V2 I had never problems with it, everything ran in the best way! My settings for the queue are: Play queue: by current title Back to queue: YES Repeat after queue: YES Ignore random playback: YES In the V3 703 Alpha, I have identified several problems with regard to the behavior of the queue: Problem 1: sometimes the queue started with the second assigned title, and not with the first ranked title Problem 2: Actually, it always happened that after the last title was played in the queue, the queue was played again from the beginning, that is, That the folder playback was not continued Problem 3: If after the Problem 2 additional titles were placed in the queue, the queue got totally mixed. You could only help by the queue was completely emptied. It would be very nice if the cause of these problems could be found and eliminated. Many greetings! Frank Finsterbusch (FFhex), Jena, Germany
  3. I love to use playlists for music playback, but sometimes you just want to hear a few songs in between. That is where the queue function should come in, after selecting a few songs for the queue the player nicely switches over to the selected queue. When the queue finished playing however the progress in the playlist is reset and the playlist starts from number 1 again repeating songs you already heard. The queue function in Spotify for example saves the progress in your current playlist which is how I feel it should be. Not sure if this should be under bugs or feature requests but it may be intended behavior so I put it here. I included some screenshots that show the process.
  4. Hi, Just bought Poweramp from Google Playstore. It is an amazing app! I do not know if this is already in the settings but I am unable to find it. I want all the songs that have already been played in a playlist to change color. This is helpful when you switch between playlists. All that is needed is if the play-head crosses from the end of 1 song to the next one in a playlist the previous song title changes color. This is already implemented in Queue! All the songs that have been played change color to dark grey. Is there some setting I need to switch-on to make this feature work in Playlist as well? (I have read on the forum that the last played song in a playlist is not remembered if you play some other song. So this simple sensible workaround is not available). I hope the above feature actually exists for playlist since it has already been implemented for Queue else it makes Poweramp much less useful for me. Thank you.
  5. In build 704 the only menu options are Album, Artist and Folder. Even when the tracks are playing from the Queue. Could we please access the Queue from here as well? Presumably access to the currently playing Play List would be appreciated for the same reason?
  6. Hi guys. I love Poweramp and have been using it for years. It has truly transformed my phone into a modern day walkman. I have a feature request to ask you to take into consideration: For a while now, there's been a disconnect between my intuition and how Poweramp behaves. My problem is with the Queue. Usually, I listen to music using custom playlists on repeat. But I often find myself wanting to sprinkle the playback with single plays of one or more tracks. These tracks I will put in the Queue, only to encounter the issue discussed here: What I request is an option to treat the queue differently from other lists. An "Auto-Advance from Queue - And I mean It!" setting, so to speak -Only play through the queue once, then resume playback of the previous list - regardless of the repeat/advance list setting, which I don't expect to apply to the queue. -It would also be nice the have the queue auto-cleared once it's done. Regards, Martin
  7. Hi. I'm using Poweramp for quite a long time already, but this feature is something that I especially found missing past few weeks. Sometimes I queue songs - most of the time there is a hell lot of them. Sometimes it would be more convenient to just enqueue full album and then delete a few songs from the list. Now it's very annoying - you have to do it one-by-one, or moving songs to the top of the queue (also, this is impossible when the queue is not started already). Is it possible to add this kind of functionality?
  8. I'm pretty impressed with what Poweramp has for features; well worth the $4. I would love to have an option to clear already-played items in the queue. So, basically, if I have 50 items in my queue, and I'm on song 35, selecting this option would remove items 1 through 34. I tend to add stuff to my queue as I am playing songs, and I would like to remove stuff as it is played to keep the queue down to a manageable level, but manually removing more than a handful of items can be slow and tedious (I can remove 2 items, then I have to wait, then 2 more items, wait some more, and so on). As it is now, I typically wait until the queue is finished, then "Clear Q" and start from scratch. Which works, but this would be way cooler.
  9. How do it remove all songs from the queue?
  10. Poweramp doesn't back to playlist after playing queue. When queue ends player stop playing.
  11. The queue seems to have a few issues that need to be looked at. I can make one just fine and it starts playing as it should when my current song ends. But after updating to the newest version (build 702) I can no longer swipe on the album art to change song when the queue is playing. It doesn't seem to make any difference what songs are in it, how many are in it or where it currently is in the queue. I can only change by clicking the buttons. As soon as the queue ends swiping works as normal. Another issue is that album arts aren't displayed correctly in the queue. It displays one album art for the entire queue (art for the song that was supposed to be played with no queue). Locking and unlocking the device seems to fix the art. EDIT: New issue has arising when I went to test it one last time. Now the queue only plays the first and last song, it skips over everything else. After restarting the app I've not been able to replicate it sadly, though it did happen 3 times before I restarted the app.
  12. Hello! First off, thank you for a great app! Been using it since version 1! I have a question for you about a feature to add. I can delete my music files directly off the sdcard from the folder mode and the album mode. However, in playlist mode, I can only remove the song from the playlist. Is it possible to be able to delete files from the sdcard, directly selected from the playlist? Thanks!
  13. I've been reading up tonight on how to save playlists and, call me stupid, but only just 10 minutes ago discovered that i have to create the playlist first and then add to it in order to save them. This seems very backwards to me. I should be able to create a queue first and then save that as a playlist afterwards if i like it. I've been using Poweramp for years and was just about to go back to Winamp because of this. I'm told that most people use the "Queue" function for a quick fix of music and that it's only meant to be used as a temporary short term thing, but to me the word queue basically means playlist and it's the core of any music playback software to me. When i build a queue up i'm making a playlist. I'm a guy who knows exactly what i want to listen to for each track and i guide the queue in moods and swings all preplanned according to my current mood. Anyway, my point really is that i feel it's far more intuitive to simply build a queue up and then, if i like it, i can click somewhere and save that queue as a playlist, that's what Winamp allows. I can't be sure when i start out if i want to save every queue that i make but i'd love to have the option to do so after i've listened to it. Some of these queues take a fair bit of time and thought to make and the current system (that i've only just discovered) forces me to save them before i even start building them. Also it's much easier to build a queue than a playlist since a single click can add each track to the queue without leaving the ftrack list. So build the queue/playlist, then "Save as playlist" feels to me much more intuitive and faster. It's function following need in proper order. If that's too much to ask for then at least i'd like to see the queue system changed so that it doesn't delete the current list after it's been played--there's already a "Clear Q" function for that--forcing me to rebuild it all over again for some inexplicable reason and making me swear loudly every single time.
  14. Hi, First I would like to thank you for a great app and using the Poweramp app (paid) version great. I would like to know whether this could be made as a feature: I have a folder containing 1000 tracks that is actively monitored by Poweramp. I have added a subset of tracks that match a criteria (genres or artist = 100 tracks) and add it to the queue which now contains 100 tracks. I sync up my android folder and then 10 new tracks are added, music folder contains 1010 tracks (auto updated to Poweramp library). If all the recently added media (10 tracks) matches my queue, I would like to auto update my queue which should be 110 tracks. However, this is not updated. How can I auto-update my queue when the base folder is changed?
  15. Hello Poweramp-Forum, nice that I have found this forum! I try Poweramp since a few days and I must say: the app is very useful. But I have a little problem with playing my searched songs in the queue. Is there any option that can remove automaticly the played songs from this queue-list? thats very important for me! a lot of other (windows)-dj-programs, e.g. traktor, virtual-dj or digijay.at work on this way. I fill my queue with my songs and the program kill them from this list, if they are ready played. Another problem is: How can I move the songs inside the queue-list, e.g. from position 9 to position 2? It would be nice if someone could help me. Many Thanks & Greetings from Germany! FFhex
  16. Inconsistent album Play / Enqueue behaviour. To Reproduce:Open app and clear queue.Enqueue an album to queue by long-press in the Library-Albums screen. (album1)Play another album by long-press in Library-Albums screen. (album2)Advance to next track. Expected:I expected it would play every track from album2.album2-t1album2-t2album2-t3... Actual:Instead it will play album2-t1 then advance to album1-t1 and continue playing the queue:album2-t1album1-t1album1-t2... Summary:If this is the designed behaviour, I find it confusing and distracting. It is worse when I launch the app, play an album and I find that after the first track I am suddenly listening to a playlist from the day before. I am enjoying the app for many other aspects, but this is very distracting. Thanks for your help. 2.0.10-build580-play on Android 5.0.2 on Motorola Moto G
  17. Hi, guys. Can you add an option just like the title says? Is quite annoying when you add a song to queue just to hear it from between your other songs and it keeps playing forever when "repeat list" is on. Thank you. I simply love Poweramp. Best player out there!
  18. Hello, Queue song sequence is changed unexpectedly when a song is added to a playlist. To reproduce: * add playlist to queue (e.g. 20 songs) * go to queue and select random play * let some songs of queue play, .e.g. until song AAA at queue position 5/20 * go back to song BBB at queue position 3/20 * add song BBB at queue position 3/20 via menu to another playlist Queue song sequence gets changed unexpectedly. Song BBB is now at position 5/20. Song AAA is now at position 3/20. Impact: if you go forward and backward through a queue and add songs to playlist the sequence is heavily changed so you get missed some songs since they move to the already played part. Reiner
  19. If you search your library right now you can add individual tracks to the queue by long pressing, then selecting "Enqueue". However, what I am looking for is an easy way to search and then add all of the search results to the queue. The use case is this: I am assembling a queue, generally fairly long, for a working session. A number of the albums I have purchased have extremely large track counts. "99 Essential ...", "50 greatest...", etc. Very frequently, these have large subsections that could have formed a whole on their own. This is especially true with classical music where multiple distinct works are mixed onto one "album" and I want to select a single work. So, I search for the name of the work and the selection of tracks come up and I want to grab the whole set and append them to the queue without grabbing each track manually or putting the entire album onto the queue.
  20. Hi, If I have some files queued (with enqueue) and am playing though them, then I enqueue some more, that works as expected as long as the original queue has not been fully played. If the queue has been fully played, powerapp empties the queue and replaces it with the new files I have just enqueued (plus the 1 file from the old queue thats currently playing). Is this intended behaviour? If so, its bizarre. I would expect the queue to keep queueing files until I tell it otherwise by manually clearing the Q. Anyway of turning this behaviour off? Thanks .
  21. Power amp is great and has potential to be the best. I usually end up playing DJ via bluetooth and found this app called party player that allows for sms song requests to come in play and start a que. I like the app but I think if it were already integrated into power amp itself it might flow easier. I know itunes had something similar like party shuffle or something like that but Id love to see it here since I have no use for apple and its products anymore. This option would allow more users to take part in the music being played only thru power amp.
  22. Here's the device details: Poweramp v2.0.9 build 554 Nexus 7 2013 32gb Android 4.4.2 Stock ROM I have a weird issue where I put a song in a Que (Hold and then tap "Enqueue") and after being played, the song sounds terrible and the pitch and time have changed. It's happened to every song I've tried and I tried playing the same song files on computer and in other players and seems that the song file is permanently changed. I find this a little bit odd and was wondering if anyone can help. Thanks, DD
  23. Hi, this problem is very poisonous. Very often I'm listening audiobooks, but sometimes, I want to listen some music. In this case I had to write down actual track and track's position of audiobook to continue in future. Can you do something like "Save listening" feature, please?
  24. I like a lot this music player. Definitely it's one of the best music players I could find in Playstore. But, I would definitely love to see a Smart Shuffle Playlist function. Used to play my music in an iOS app called Shuffle Better. It led me to shuffle all my music library, in a sort of On the go playlist, in random order. Then, I could add the song I wanted to play after the one I was listening. I could also lock the songs in the playlist by swiping my finger to the right (AND to the left it deleted the tracks I didn't want to listen) so I could RE-shuffle the playlist again but maintaning the songs I still wanted to hear. I'm new with Android, and hope that some player (maybe, I hope this one) includes this option. I hope you consider my suggestions and help me to solve my issue. Thanks and sorry from my bad english. I'm from Lima, Peru.
  25. Hiii! Everytime I go for a run, I queue a playlist. So I can listen to my favourite songs. The thing is... if I would like to hear them egain another day, i have to clear the queue and add the songs again. I'd be very nice to have a "restart queue" button, so the already listened songs reset themselves! Thanks!
