      Poweramp v3 Project Update   04/24/2017

As you may be aware, the Poweramp developer has been working hard on an updated material design user interface for Poweramp v3 which required a full ground-up rebuild of the code and is taking some time to get to a beta-test stage. See the forum thread for more details and to discuss.

  1. Hey guys! I recently got a new phone (Samsung Galaxy S8), and metadata like artist name, album name, song title, etc no longer displays on my car (2012 Mazda 3)'s heads-up display. It has worked perfectly fine before this on my last phone (LG G4). Music plays just fine, it's just that the metadata doesn't display. I realize this is most likely an issue with the phone itself using a different version of bluetooth compared to my last phone, but since you guys are the gurus when it comes to troubleshooting this kind of stuff... is there any chance you can look into it, and see if it'd be an easy fix to implement in Poweramp (v2 or v3, I've tried it on both) itself? Like, maybe a toggle-able option to make Poweramp force the phone to transmit metadata the old way so that it'll display in situations like this? Just an idea. Not sure who else to contact/ask.
  2. Hi. My phone is a Lenovo Moto G 4º generation, I'm running stock Android 6.0.1 and I'm using build 588 of Poweramp. I'm having some issues while playing music through my Pioneer DEH-4600BT and the problem is that, after 15 minutes or so of playback, there's always a small pause. This pause usually lasts for about a half to almost a second and doesn't happen when using non-Bluetooth headphones. Music is stored on the real (external) SD card. These are the settings I tried changing and did nothing to solve or mitigate the issue: Short Audio Focus Change BT Direct Volume Control Audio Buffer Size Audio Thread Priority Use Wakelock I've also tried leaving Poweramp in the foreground before turning off the screen and didn't help either. Finally, I have another small issue also Bluetooth related: no matter what settings I choose related to Bluetooth metadata, my head unit displays the phone Bluetooth name ("Moto G (4)" in my case) in the place where it should display playtime. This never happened to me with this player on Android 2 or 4 on the same unit and works as intended (displaying playtime) on other car audio systems. Thank you for your responses and for making this great player! EDIT: Managed to get some logs, pause happens at around 11:16:04:
  3. Sometimes one has to reinstall a ROM, or purchase a new phone. Unfortunately, I haven't found a way of exporting anything other than settings and equaliser presets. Would it be possible to have a feature that exports the ratings for audio files? And possibly other meta-data too. Thanks, Juan
  4. I'm a power user and I've been looking for a full-featured app to play MP3s on Android (on Windows and Linux I use fooba2000). One key feature I care about is support for ID3v2 tags. Looking through the forum, it appears Poweramp does support them, but there's nothing about ID3 or ID3v2 tags or any kind of metadata support on the website, not even on the Features page, and noting on Google Play either. Please add details about ID3v2 support to Google Play and the Features page (and maybe even to Key Features), not just for SEO, but for people like me who seek this feature specifically while looking trying to pick one of the tens of music playing apps for Android.
  5. I. The Essentials Poweramp version and build number: 2.0.10-build-588-play (Full Version) Your device model: Samsung S7 Edge (SM-G935P) Your Android version: 6.0.1 Your Custom ROM name/version (if you're on custom ROM): N/A Tried catlog, but it cannot read any logs other than its own as it cannot become root, so this is all I have. II. The problem The BT in my car does not seem to be receiving metadata. Samsung's Music Player sends this info across fine, but Poweramp is, to me, far superior in terms of UI and sound (Samsung's EQ, for example, is subtractive, not additive). This is a relatively new phone (a month or so), so I'm kind of reluctant to (try to) root the thing at the moment... Summary: Sounds fantastic, I'm very happy to have the album art back, but the lack of transfer is mystifying and irritating...
  6. I recently upgraded to an S7 and put all my music on my new phone (old was an S5.) I used Poweramp premium on both phones and I listen to my music primarily in my car via bluetooth. When I had my S5, the tag info would pop up on my 2014 Civic's display. With my S7, it shows no info. When I play songs in google play the tags show up but not when using Poweramp. Does anyone know how to fix this issues? Thanks
  7. Hi there, I've recently downloaded the alpha and I've been enjoying it a lot. There is an issue with Samsung devices which not only affects the alpha but pretty much every music player I've tried. I understand that this is not a Poweramp issue but I'm hoping there may be a workaround that can be included in the release. Just to clarify, I'm not an Android developer but I do have a moderate amount of technical knowledge such as flashing custom ROMs etc. I believe the issue is that Samsung has badly implemented AVRCP backward compatibility. I have an older Kenwood head unit (BT92SD) with the latest firmware installed. I have a Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+. No metadata is being transmitted to the head unit and the buttons do not skip track / play / pause etc. The head unit works with no issues on my friend's HTC One M9, my Fiancée's HTC One M8 and my old HTC One M7. I believe the head unit supports an old version of AVRCP and although AVRCP 1.5 is supposed to be backwards compatible, it does not work on Samsung's new devices. I have done a lot of Googling and Samsung are refusing to acknowledge it as an issue and there is no third party solution I can find. There are a lot of people out there experiencing the same issue. I have tried all variations "Metachanged Intent" CyanogenMod etc. Considering the popularity of the Galaxy range, would it be a feature that you would consider implementing if indeed it is possible or am I going to have to update my head unit? Thanks, Rich.
  8. I noticed that in the library menu, there was no option to sort songs by their year. Since the 'year' tag is defined for most MP3s, it would be a useful sorting option. Due to the lack of options in the meta display menu, I figured that the song's year, genre or track number tags could be offered as some of the options to display. For those of us who keep this option enabled, they would definitely add a small touch to the player UI. I've made some examples (using another skin): Year: Genre: Track:
  9. I have metadata missing from some tracks and some tracks are missing from playlists. The data is correct on the device because it is available in Google's Play Music app as are the playlists. I have re-scanned the music folder multiple times, i have cleared data and i have uninstalled & re-installed the app but nothing works. Is there anything else you can suggest?
  10. I am used to embedd lyrics with SYLT Edit by merging .lrc file with .mp3 file but could not able to open in Poweramp by simply going onto Menu>Lyrics>Auto>Show (Error is: No lyric tag found in the song) Please help how could i embedd to show directly on screen by clicking "Show Button" (also tell me which version is supported by Poweramp for lyrics among and for ID3 among ID3v1, ID3v1.1 and ID3v2.2, ID3v2.3, ID3v2.4) .
  11. Hi When will there be a possibility to rate songs to file metadata? Am I missing something? It would be a seller for me.
  12. I just would like to share my happiness and confirm that, after a long wait, my Sony Ericsson MW-600 now displays song track info (title only) with the latest release of Poweramp using it with Smasung Galaxy S III. Is there a possible to implement ifo customisation, such as Artist and Track, if desired? Thank you very much and well done! PD: I had lost all hopes...
