      Poweramp v3 Project Update   04/24/2017

As you may be aware, the Poweramp developer has been working hard on an updated material design user interface for Poweramp v3 which required a full ground-up rebuild of the code and is taking some time to get to a beta-test stage. See the forum thread for more details and to discuss.

  1. Now, when click on Folders icon next to a song title on bottom, a popup appears with the following items: Artist, Album, Folder. I suggest to add an option in player's "Settings" which would allow to go directly to Artists/Albums/Folders omitting the popup. I think, this option will be very useful for those guys who use most of time only one item from Artists, Albums and Folders.
  2. I have a ton of songs by different artists in one folder on my SD card and all in a folder-based playlist but they're seriously clogging up my Artists list. If I remove this folder from the folder scan it removes them from my Artist list but also clears out my playlist. I Don't need to see these songs anywhere other than in my playlist. Is there anything I can do about this?

Poweramp v3 (ALPHA-3 test builds 703 / 704) for standard (ARM-based) Android devices. Released: 16 April 2016 This is alpha version of upcoming major Poweramp release. Please make backup of your existing Poweramp app/settings/db before installation as you won't be able to rollback to Poweramp v2 without alpha uninstallation, causing settings to be lost. You can install it over your existing v2 installation (your purchase and settings will be carried over). At this time, only ARM processors are supported. We'll add Intel support for later beta builds. Min. supported Android: 4.1. Skins are disabled in alpha as UI is partially changed and there is no point in (re-)building skins now. Alpha-3: - added DVC support for Hi-Res Snapdragon 24-bit PCM variant (e.g. LG Gx/v10, HTC A9, etc.) - Hi-Res support for Sony Z3, Meizu 5 Pro, Lenovo Vibe X3 - Look and Feel / Status Bar/Notification / Notification Colors option to override non-standard ROM notification colors - mp3 vbr seeking improvements - 2 Hi-Res API variants (Sony Hi Res and Snapdragon 24-bit offload) for Sony Z5/P - option to always process/send album art (useful for smartwatches) - bt pause/resume polishing - scrobbling fixes, removed obsolete ScrobbleDroid support - album art downloading update - language selection fix - better current output device detection (wired headset vs bt) - other few small fixes
  4. As good as Poweramp's UI is, I think there is one simple thing that would easily make it more useful. In the folders view (hierarchy or list) each folder entry takes a lot of vertical space (album art if available, name, path, number of elements), additional vertical space is wasted by the "N items; Filter" bar and unnecessarily top title bar. Because of that navigating through the list of folders requires a lot of scrolling (only 5 entries are shown at once on my 5" screen). The songs list use the vertical space much better. I think the UI overhaul in the new version is a good occasion to take care of this aspect as well.
  5. Hello, So Poweramp recognizes folder structure and can tell what artist a song is from based on the folder it's in, but three albums of mine don't do that. They end up in the unknown artist and unknown album place. Any ideas why?
  6. i would love to have a miniplayer on the bottom of the app, so that when you are browsing through your music, you can play/pause/skip the song an read the title/artist/album. the miniplayer could be placed instead of the folders/library bar (which I even don't use). in my opinion the folders/library ooption could be moved to the 3-dot-menu. it would be so great to have such a minplayer.
  7. On a virtual machine, my music is located in /mnt/shared/AndroidMusic. Poweramp only looks below /storage/emulated/0, and doesn't see my music. Any suggestions? Soft link?
  8. good day, Upto recently have had no problem selecting specific folders in the sdcard to be scanned. (for the Folders/Library view) But Poweramp no longer lets me select specific subfolders, instead will only allow selecting the entire sdcard, wch makes everything on it show up in the 'Folders/Library' view -including video files(mp4) and movies taken with the phone camera that are saved by default on the sdcard etc. Under Settings>Folders and Library>Music Folders, Poweramp used to be able to navigate to each subfolder on the sdcard (displayed as 'external_sd' in 'Folders Selection'). But 'external_sd' will not expand like the other folders that have expand/collapse triangles:: and can only select 'external_sd' itself:: wondering if this might be from latest update and if i shud revert to previous ver. if i wanted Poweramp to select subfoldes within the 'external_sd'. android 4.1.2 tks
  9. Hi all, Seems that I couldn't find the anwser anywhere, so I'm posting here. I've been using Poweramp for 1,5 years on my previous HTC phone and had it configured to play the music folder by folder - exactly by the actual folders on the smartphone storage. I've migrated to a newer phone, and now I can't seem to figure out how to make Poweramp play back my music in the exactly same way: the <<< and >>> buttons are inresponsive, and I can't sort the files to have the app play them in the order of actual folders (which is very frustrating, since some folders contain my personal mixes of different artists from different albums). I simply can't sort it out to work as it had before. Oh, and a step-by-step guide through the necessary settings would be much appreciated with a huge, sweaty pitcher of virtual beer.
  10. Please, correct folders displaying, not all available, but seems like in file manager. When I choose displaying type "Folders", I expected to see usual hierarchical tree of folders. Problem is solved
  11. Poweramp has been phenomenal, except for one fatal issue. It seems to have serious trouble with my FLAC files. Some of my albums are out of order no matter what I do. The tags are correct, but the library view refuses to arrange them correctly. There are random duplicate tracks in some of my albums, but they don't play and they're usually listed as (incorrectly) being just a couple of seconds long. Sometimes when I delete these duplicate tracks the track order becomes correct, but not in every instance. What's even more strange is that when I look at the albums in folder view, they'll be in the right order, but random tracks will be missing. I have absolutely no idea what the problem is, but I guess I might have to switch to another player if I can't figure out how to resolve this. Has anyone else had similar issues, or know what might be causing these issues with track order?
  13. How should I organize my music using Poweramp for Android? I have a music collection in FLAC that I'd like to put on my phone (Samsung Galaxy S3). I would like convert the format to either .wma or .mp3. But how should I organize the folders and files? And should I include a CUE or m3u files? I tried putting the flac to my external SD card. And I have the music organized in folders like this... The Beatles / The Beatles - Rubber Soul - (1965) / 01 - Song Name.mp3(or .flac) Inside the "The Beatles - Rubber Soul - (1965)" folder (which contains the songs) what tags need to be in there? Currently everything is showing up as Unknown Artist. Also if I'm going to convert my FLAC's to mp3 and go through all this I'd want to have this organization and tagging work in any mp3 player.
  14. I've recently added a few folder to a music folder on an sd card, all of my music files are in this location, all of which has appeared in the past. I've rescanned, full rescanned, and power cycled my phone, the new folders added don't show up. They are all mp3s that are no different from other files that do appear, also other music clients I've got installed on my phone do see the folders. Any one else run into this issue or have a resolution or suggestions? I searched past topics, but haven't found much that addresses this directly. Thanks!
  15. Please add the ability to add hidden folders to the library, that way we can have media in Poweramp that we can hide from other players we have that aren't folder-based. Thanks.
  16. I am having an issue, and I searched and read relevant threads already. I have two music folders, one contains full (single file) albums, the other contains albums broken into individual tracks. What I want is for Poweramp to shuffle all the full albums, without entering the other folder when it completes the list. I want it to keep on shuffling the full albums, unless I tell it not to anymore. I think if the shuffle mode were made to act like a normal shuffle mode, this would work properly when I select my folder and tell it to shuffle. Instead, Poweramp creates a list of those albums in random order, and plays that list in order. This is not shuffling, it is just making a random list and playing in order. So, even if I do that, and tell it to repeat the list, it will no longer be random. Am I missing something? Or, is this just the way it is? On an older version of Poweramp (before the new media library integration) I had my library (the full albums) and my folder (the broken albums), and could simply shuffle my library, the only time it would touch my other folders (with the individual tracks) is when I manually selected those tracks. Is going back my only option? Thanks, Dave.
  17. Loving the new look but have one problem. With the old library/folders system, I could put podcasts into their own folder and Poweramp wouldn't play them during "shuffle all" playback. Now they are integrated into one view, I assume they will play every time now. This will become very annoying and prevent me using Power Amp as I have many podcasts. Is there a way of excluding folders from shuffle? Otherwise I'll have to go back to stock. I would hate that as power Amp is Soooo good. Please advise
  18. Having recently purchased an Android honeycomb based tablet I was horrified to to find that the native apps would not play WMA files. Having discovered this app I am thrilled and enjoying playing with all the features of t)e trial version. Prior to purchasing your app I would like resolution to the following two issues: 1. Most of my music was placed in folders and some in library. How do I move all music into the library to take advantage of the library features? 2. All of my music in the folders is properly tagged but no album art appears. How do I rectify?
