      Poweramp v3 Project Update   04/24/2017

As you may be aware, the Poweramp developer has been working hard on an updated material design user interface for Poweramp v3 which required a full ground-up rebuild of the code and is taking some time to get to a beta-test stage. See the forum thread for more details and to discuss.

  1. Hi, i have problem with extenal dac and lock/unlock sound. My device is Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X AIM AS372 USB DAC Philips Fidelio Headphone I activate lock/unlock sound on my phone, when i play a song and lock or unlock my phone, the sound from DAC is distorted but not with lock/unlock sound.
  2. I have a rooted Samsung S7 SM-G930v Verizon with Poweramp 703 and Viper4Android 2.5.0.4. I'm trying to get Poweramp to use Viper4Android instead if it's built-in equalizer and effects. Other people have been able to achieve this before, but I'm having some difficulty. Everyone seems to agree that the solution is to turn off Direct Audio Control off in the Poweramp Advanced Audio settings menu. I would love to do this to see if it solves my problem, but that act in itself is a problem. I cannot uncheck DAC in the menu. The option is greyed-out while simultaneously being checked. I must have had it checked previously and it got locked when I installed Viper. It also says that DAC is not supported by my rom, even though I'm just using the rooted version of the stock rom for my phone. How can I force disable DAC? What should I do to make Viper and Poweramp happy together?
  3. I was wondering when power amp is going to add high res flac support for the Samsung galaxy s8 as it has high res playback
  4. So, in my audio class, i'm learning that most modern recording is done in 88.2kHz, or 176.4kHz. These are multiples of 44.1kHz, and thus cross-sampling will not occur when exporting to red-book cd format. Even on a 192kHz DAC, cross-sampling still occurs with 44.1, 88.2 and 176.4 files because 192kHz is not in the red-book cd family of sample rates (multiples of 44.1kHz). I'm almost positive that most of the recent DACs (external, and built in) out there are capable of supporting these sample rates.
  5. Hello; I have connected my Samsung S6 to my FiiO Q1 through USB. Alpha 703 detects the FiiO DAC (Java Based and Hi-Res) but no sound is heard on Headphones. I have Neutron player and everything works fine with it (When the DAC is powered on, Neutron automatically starts playing.) Are there some settings I am missing on Android or on Poweramp? Thank you in advance.
  6. Does anyone reading this use Poweramp with their LG G5, and specifically with the Hi-Fi Plus Module DAC? What are the best settings to get the most out of it? Also, and this might require it's own thread...? I love Poweramp's auto resume music playback feature which occurs when we plug into the phone's headphone jack. It's especially amazing if you use your phone in the car. ANYWAYS... This feature doesn't work IF you are using LG G5's Hi-Fi Plus module. Upon re-plugging into the module's headphone jack, the phone needs to activate the module, and a small message appears indicating such. It only takes a second or two and then the message vanishes. This seems to be stopping the auto resume feature of Poweramp from working. I'm very, mega, uber sad about this. Note the Hi-Fi icon in the notifications up the top too... Does anyone know a way around this issue of the auto resume not working? Maybe if there were an optional delay of a few seconds before auto resume kicks in...?
  7. I'm trying to use Poweramp to listen to music on my LG V10, but it only seems to use the Snapdragon DAC as the "Hi-Res" output. Is there any way to use my Sabre DAC with Poweramp or do I have to buy Neutron Player?
  8. Hi, just got the full version of Poweramp for Android with my HTC 10. Does Poweramp already utilize the HTC 10 Dac when connected via 3.5mm Jack? Or have that in planned in an update? Thanks.
  9. Hi everyone, testing the alpha build 702 on my brand new LG V10. This phone uses some high end internal audio components, and it's great to see some support of third party music players. So I tried using the new high res implementation of the latest alpha, and it apparently uses the snapdragons component instead of the 32-bit SABRE 9018 DAC and SABRE 9062 Amplifier, which are one of the V10's selling points. I'm no expert at this, and I haven't used the alpha builds a lot, so I'm really curious if someone knows more about this. Thanks!
  10. Version 703/704

Poweramp v3 (ALPHA-3 test builds 703 / 704) for standard (ARM-based) Android devices. Released: 16 April 2016 This is alpha version of upcoming major Poweramp release. Please make backup of your existing Poweramp app/settings/db before installation as you won't be able to rollback to Poweramp v2 without alpha uninstallation, causing settings to be lost. You can install it over your existing v2 installation (your purchase and settings will be carried over). At this time, only ARM processors are supported. We'll add Intel support for later beta builds. Min. supported Android: 4.1. Skins are disabled in alpha as UI is partially changed and there is no point in (re-)building skins now. Alpha-3: - added DVC support for Hi-Res Snapdragon 24-bit PCM variant (e.g. LG Gx/v10, HTC A9, etc.) - Hi-Res support for Sony Z3, Meizu 5 Pro, Lenovo Vibe X3 - Look and Feel / Status Bar/Notification / Notification Colors option to override non-standard ROM notification colors - mp3 vbr seeking improvements - 2 Hi-Res API variants (Sony Hi Res and Snapdragon 24-bit offload) for Sony Z5/P - option to always process/send album art (useful for smartwatches) - bt pause/resume polishing - scrobbling fixes, removed obsolete ScrobbleDroid support - album art downloading update - language selection fix - better current output device detection (wired headset vs bt) - other few small fixes
  11. Love it! No troubles here, just wanted to shout out a big 'thank you' for adding this feature. Working great with my S5 -> usb otg cable -> dac on 24/192 Keep up the good work!
  12. Hello, does anyone know if Poweramp support the dual DAC on Onkyo DP-X1 or it simply treat it as a Android device? Thank you!
  13. First of all, HI! I want to say: Only use Poweramp on all my android devices to play music, simply the best one out there for me, awesome app LOVE IT! New guy here, wondering if i can ask questions, and mostly if you have answers... I hope i don't ask the same questions that were already asked, i just could not find anything like this on this forum. 1st question: So, i own a small USB OTG DAC amp. The amp model is the Topping NX2. http://www.tpdz.net/en/products/nx2/ Small, weak, but still worth it. I noticed that Poweramp stops playing when i pull the usb out while the music plays over OTG cable i built for my amp, it doesn't switch to loudspeakers, it stops. Is there a way to make Poweramp resume upon re-plugging the OTG usb cable in? like if it sees a usb dac, boom music resumes, pending the option being ticked in the settings page of course. That would be nice! 2nd question: I saw a FIIO USB DAC amp on ebay not so long ago, with media buttons directly on the body of the amp. on my XPERIA Z3 compact Will those buttons really control the music using Poweramp when plugged in the USB using an OTG cable? Is this kind of DAC device also considered as an HID keyboard or HID consumer device to control media with the integrated buttons? How well will Poweramp work with these controls? anybody ever tried this amp? FIIO KUNLUN E18 http://www.fiio.net/en/products/20 These buttons would make everything nicer! Last question: Now with all that in mind, I saw an External Playback Control Keypad on a DIY site where the guy had the "play/pause, next, prev" buttons in a usb format micro keyboard to clip on top of his normal pc keyboard. upon reading the comments, i saw that the microcontroller used would work over an OTG connection with a phone. NOW, WOULD THESE kind of OTG devices work with Poweramp considering i only currently have an amp that acts as a DAC?: If i use a USB hub, i am told i can plug up to three devices in my phone. I could plug the DAC amp for sound and a homemade Playback keypad to control the music remotely. Would those two work hand in hand with Poweramp to create the best combo possible for my needs? If i can't buy it, might as well build it, the buttons really would be practical! I Know I ask a lot, but any info you guys can give me would be usefull as i don't find much on the interwebernets being inexperienced in all of this. android OTG seems nice but not much is available as far as info on plugging two devices of this kind. i don't see anybody using a DAC amp and a media buttons in the same setup with their phone. Thanks in advance for the support and i will keep reading the forum to get more info until then. P.S. i do not recommend or tell people to buy any of the products mentioned in here i'm merely giving examples for the purpose of these questions as i don't know all the terms for all the items i need to complete my project. I really want to thank anybody that will take from their time to help me with any of this. I am willing to return the favor with anything i can do with any of your projects in the future. i mean it
  14. I was rather looking forward to getting the new Samsung Galaxy Note, released today. As an audiophile and user of Poweramp, I am disappointed to see this thread on XDA which says that whereas the original Samsung Galaxy had the excellent Wolfson's WM8994 DAC, the later Galaxy S2 and the new Galaxy Note (the big one) now have the apparently poor performing Yamaha C1YMU823 / MC-1N2 DAC. Which left me thinking... does Poweramp actually use the built in DAC supplied with the phone, or does it do it's own DAC thing in software? Regards, John
