      Poweramp v3 Project Update   04/24/2017

As you may be aware, the Poweramp developer has been working hard on an updated material design user interface for Poweramp v3 which required a full ground-up rebuild of the code. It is hoped this will be ready for final beta-testing by the end of the May. See forum thread for more details and to discuss.

  1. For some reason the album art gets stretched out on the Lockscreen. Is there any way to fix this? http://imgur.com/efzACQ
  2. Hi guys, Some of you have noticed that your (cover.jpg) album art is not displayed while browsing your .cue based album files. The problem is that normally the tags within your music file (.m4a/.mp3/.flac) would be blank because that information is set within the .cue file. The trick to getting Poweramp to show your art is to edit your music file "Artist" and "Album" tags to match the tags within your .cue file. Once you do this, the cover art should be recognized while browsing your albums. Folder structure Music file tags (.m4a file, not the .cue) Cue file Note- The album art will show up only in "Library" view, not in "Folder" view. Another tip: If you place multiple disc albums into the same folder as I have above, go into "List Options" in "Artist Album Songs" / "Album" view and select "By filename" to prevent the CDs from mixing CD1 TRK 1, CD2 TRK 1 etc. If anyone tries this, let me know if it works for you or not.
  3. Have been using Poweramp for quite some time now and have my music laid out perfectly as I want it. A lot of my music had incorrect tags or ones that weren't right so I sorted it out all out and added album art for pretty much every song I have. I was wanting to copy my songs onto another device (possibly an ipod so using iTunes) however I think the album art is all saved on my S6? I think the tags will have changed but the art is in a separate location. Is there anything I can do to permanently change the album art on my songs or have it all set up right? Possibly copy all the songs and then all the album art from wherever it's saved? Any help is massively appreciated
  4. Hello everyone, I'm posting here because I have a little problem pretty annoying. I'll explain you : at first I found out that the cover of the last song (in alphabetical order) in an album will define the cover of the album in album view. The other songs can be something else than the album cover (single cover, artwork, etc...), the cover of the last song will define it. What I am doing is I rename on my computer the song from which I want the cover defining the album art as "artist1 _ title". This way it puts the song all at the end behind the "artist1 - title" songs, and this song defines the album art in Poweramp, album view. But I would like to get rid of these "_" to only keep "-"... If you didn't understand anything I said until now that's normal because I'm french haha, but to summarize, is it possible to choose the song which gives its cover to the whole album in the "album view" mode in Poweramp ? Instead of the last song of the album giving its cover to the album. Don't hesitate to ask more details and if no one understands my point I'll make some screenshots. Thanks !
  5. I purchased Poweramp and when I tried to play my music it does not show anything about the track except a track number. I downloaded my music from Google play on my phone on my SD card. Everything shows correctly on Google Play. Is there anyway to correct this. I can't see my Albums, Album Art, or the Names of art and song. I am a newbie of Poweramp and only used Google play for music
  6. Not high priority, but a couple simple things that would probably make Poweramp even nicer: Maybe I'm imagining things, but aren't the small artworks on the album selection rectangular shaped? This causes most covers to looked vertically squished. Unless you guys did this intentionally, itwould probably look better square (as this is the most common dimension of covers.) On related topic: Option to disable Artist/Album Title text from that screen for those of us who recognize our covers without need for artist and album text shown below the artwork.
  7. I'm testing some .m4a/.cue albums I've ripped. The first thing I've noticed is that embedded art doesn't seem to work at all for these albums. So I placed a .jpg image in this format: artist - album.cue artist - album.m4a artist - album.jpg This does work to display art while listing to each track of the album, however - no artwork is shown in the album/library selection screen. Is this a bug that can be fixed, or is there a way that I'm overlooking? Thanks.
  8. i think the title explains itself, when i change the album art for an album it only changes the cover for the song that is playing, i dont know if that is a bug or is working as intended but if it is then could you please add a way to change the art for the entire album it really sucks to have to change cover by cover of a single album.
  9. Cuesheet Folder Art

Hi, Does anybody have any tips or tricks to getting cuesheets to display a thumbnail in the Folder view? I have Folder.jpg image files in each folder along with the *.cue file and the *.mp3, and have also tried Cover.jpg and AlbumArt.jpg filenames for the image. The image is picked up fine by the main player screen, but is not used in the folder listing. Normal albums (folders containing *.mp3 files & a Folder.jpg) display a thumbnail as I would expect. The end result is quite untidy - some folders have thumbnails, some don't. I'm positive this used to work in an older version of Poweramp. I'm currently using version 2.0.10-build-571-play (Full Version)of Poweramp on Android 4.4.4 on a HTC Desire Eye.
  10. Hi, I am sending my phone to manufacturer for reformatting it. I am also changing my memory card(which currently has all the songs) and switching to a different memory card. How can I backup all the album art for all these songs? Also, is there any way to backup Poweramp cache? Thanks
  11. Device specifications: ● Android 4.4.2 ● TouchWiz 19505XXUFNC4 ● Galaxy S4 19505 (rooted) Poweramp specifications: ● 2.0.10-build-571-play (Full Version) Whenever I hold down the album art display, search for a new picture using the in app search feature and select one I want to display, nothing happens. All that is displayed is the stock "Poweramp" picture. The same thing happens if I try choosing from the "Pick From Gallery" option. Is there anything I can do to fix this? Or is it a bug? Thanks.
  12. My tab 4 7" has different hardware than a tab 4 10" and is supposedly more difficult to root. There is no USB debugging at all. Perhaps I obtained the wrong images, but my "recovery" attempts only hang on "downloading....." My built in file manager at first would not move files, but I /could/ copy and then delete the original. Now it will move and also allow me to delete files on external. Sad thing is if I search (say for "n7p") I can see millions of files but no edit options appear. Argh. well I for one want to beg for access to the externalSD. How will I get my songs into the right "Album"? How Will I delete my live tracks? I am homeless and habe no PC...I hate not being able to DL 20 Gig Lecture packs. About 1.5 is all I can do at once. But I will buy Poweramp again for this feature gladly. I need to dump my old email someday soon anyway. Probably I will move over to a windows tab since I am getting angry at how Apple programming is on my machine, I don't use Adobe I am all Macromedia. Thanks hope its okay this is a new topic...I am disappointed only one other request is up but thanks either way it works, I love great software.
  13. It's interesting for me to know the resolution and the size of the file that is max, because that was a problem for me to use very large album art (more then 3000*3000 px and more then 5 mb)
  14. First of all, I hope I'm not posting a duplicate request, because I feel like I'm not the only one that wants this, but I haven't found a similar post. Since I am using a transparent theme, which allows me to see my Launcher background when I am in the music player, I would love a feature for toggling the album art region completely, so it would show the theme element behind it, instead of the Poweramp logo (in my case, the launcher background) . I wouldnt mind the Poweramp logo altogether, but it's all surrounded by a black square ⬜. It would be really cool to have this option as a toggle. So when I get bored of my transparent theme, I would definitely want my album art back. Also, for the album art, I would really love this feature, too: http://forum.powerampapp.com/index.php?/topic/3969-embed-album-art/
  15. Newbie Questions

I have a couple of issues with Poweramp on my android phone (Samsung galaxy stellar - Android 4.1.2). 1. Often the album art was wrong. So I went into settings, deleted the cache, asked for it to auto-download album art, and then went back to listening for a while. Now, most tracks have no art, and the few which do are totally and utterly wrong. I've got albums with images of a newspaper article! I've got songs with random web page icons. I redid the same "delete cache" and there was some point where I could see a list of possible art choices for the current tune. All of them were absurd. Why does it not use the art from MediaPlayer? And why if I allow it to download its own art does it come back with essentially random images off of the internet?! [update] The fiules are organized on a media card as such: SCH-I200\Card\Music\Adele\19\01 Daydreamer.wma \Music\Artist\Album\#no. track-name.wma 2. Just bought a 2014 Mazda3 with the blue tooth enabled NAV/Entertainment system. My phone and the NAV coupled easily. And they seem to re-couple eveyr time I start up the car (the NAV tells me when it syncs its contact list from the phone). However, something isn't working correctly with Poweramp syncing with the bluetooth subsystem. If I listen to music from Poweramp, then leave my car & take the phone with me, when I return the phone refuses to play/pause/skip/repeat from the NAV system's controls (which worked initially). This is consistent. So - get in the car - select the samsung phone as audio source, listen for a while, leave with phone, come back, and now I can't get the phone to listen to the NAV controls until I manually press "play" in Poweramp. I have tried making sure that I don't close Poweramp. no die. I've tried to intentionally close Poweramp. same issue. I've tried various setting choices for blue tooth in Poweramp (auto resume, don't auto-resume. Wait for full resync. Higher process priority. Don't unload the service on idle.) Nothing makes any difference. 3. Even before I deleted all of the album art from Poweramp, the NAV system never showed any album art (and the current position within a track doesn't update / track the song correctly). Any ideas?
  16. Google Search Album Art

Half the time when Download an album art it isn't the one I want and there isn't a way to earch manually. In N7 player you can do a custom Google Image search for album arts. This feature and it's creative UI are really the only thnigs N7player has over Poweramp.
  17. I submitted this bug using the Google Forms, but given the scarcity of the fields, I'm re-posting here with more details, in hope someone with the same issue has some clues. So I have this album with plenty of different art for most of the songs, and very strangely PA does not want to display the album art it is supposed to. Here's an idea of the different art for each song for the first part of the album: Note that the behavior I will describe here is mostly only on this album, I can't recall having seen it on other albums with similarly embedded art for each song (but not 100% sure about that, it's been a very long time I have noticed this issue and am only reporting it now). My Poweramp settings as regards the art display are these: What may be of interest or peculiar about my setting is: 1) Many of my ID3 tags content are using UNICODE (Japanese) 2) The album content itself is split among two folders (CD1 and CD2), but all the mp3 files in both folders share the same album name. Interestingly when it comes to pick a random picture, PA takes it in either of the folders indistinctly. 3) The embedded art files are using either jpeg OR png (this actually cause a side effect with VLC player) 4) Running PA 2.0.9 build 555 on CyanoGen Mod 11 (Kitkat 4.4), Samsung Galaxy S3 As for the actual behavior, here it is: Say I want to play the first song on the album: Then if I tap the song name to have it displayed in full screen, I have the wrong art. The art displayed above comes from an other song actually in folder CD2 while this song is in folder CD1. I don't have any jpeg file roaming in my mp3 folders so I have no idea why PA has been choosing this art rather than the one for the first song of the album. Now, if I press my android screen for a few sec, the PA UI provides me with the art selection pop-up: And the "530x530 Embed Album Art" is the correct picture ! This means that PA is properly reading the ID3 tag content but for an unknown reason display an other one. The other pictures below are coming from the Internet and are NOT in my mp3 files or folders (despite me not having selected the "download art" option). Don't be fooled by the picture down on the right of this screenshot above, it is NOT the one used by PA initially, it comes from the Internet (I can tell because not same cropping and size). Now the weirdness goes on if I select the proper picture (the one labeled "530x530 Embed Album Art" above), then this picture will be used for all the other songs on this album instead of the one arbitrarily chosen by PA first, and each time I chose a picture this way, PA will ignore the songs embedded pictures and instead use it (at this point, it *may* be a feature I'm not sure). But this is not all, there are a few songs in the album not behaving this way !! These 5 songs share a common property: the Artist ID3 tag is "GUMI" instead of "初音ミク" (Miku Hatsune). This is why I suspect that whatever this bug is, there is maybe something to do with UNICODE, though I tried with other albums having a mix of artist names using Latin and UNICODE character sets without this issue... If anyone wants to fiddle with this issue or need some songs with UNICODE tags, I put the whole CD1 folder shown above available for download here: http://goo.gl/IeJ0Dr
  18. http://imgur.com/UogvCF9 It would be really appreciated if we could make the album art fit to our lockscreen. Or maybe an square option for the top of the screen, having the bottom part covered by the keyboard? Otherwise password users only get to see a blurry cut-out.
  19. I bought this app today and I must say that this is probably the best android music player there is. Great job . At the moment im adding all the missing album art to my music collection. The built in search for album art works pretty good and I can get like 50-60% of the missing album art, which is great as most of my collection is pretty unknown. What I miss is an option to browse through google images and pick one manually. So what I would like to see is a small built in browser to search through google images so that you can pick images manually, if the suggested album art doesnt match. The option to edit the search terms for the album would be great too. Would love to see something like this in a future update!
  20. Album art in "all songs"

It would be nice if we had the ability to show album art next to songs in the "all songs" view, at least as an option. It is a lot easier for people to search by image than text.
  21. Music iding and editting

I would like there to be a way for Poweramp to identify it and change incorrect info, cause i know like alot of people some of my music tracks have wrong names or dont have the albums name or year on it. I would alao like to suggest a option to where we can pick the downloaded album art to be saved as the ablum art for the song/album. Instead of being applied to player screen only Still whatever happens i love this app so please dont over do it on the big update
  22. Poweramp Album Art Quality

Hello everyone, this is my first time posting here. (Yes, I have shamelessy created an account specifically to create this thread.) Well, first off, I do not know if this thread is in the right section, but if it isn't, can someone direct me to the correct forum section? Second, I do not know if this has already been asked before, hence I apologise in advance if I am rehashing the same question again. (I have tried to google for this issue, but it seems as though no one has actually made this request... so yeah.) Alright, now that's aside, my request is... ...is it possible to implement a custom internal album art scaling feature? To my knowledge, Poweramp apparently internally scales album art pictures to a resolution of 512 x 512. Phones these days are sporting average resolutions of 1280 x 720, and I feel as though the old preset scaling is no longer sufficient enough to properly display album art images sharply on modern devices. Ah yes, for the record, my album art images, to begin with are on average, 1280 x 1280. I use a Galaxy Note GT-7000. The post in which I obtained my information from: http://forum.powerampapp.com/index.php?/topic/1978-album-art/ The quote: I hope that this feature isn't too hard to implement (or is it even possible?) Can it even be considered, actually? In anycase, sorry for this excessively long post, and thank you for reading.
  23. Hi, Long time Poweramp user, first time poster! I love this app, i even delete the stock music player from my rom. I have a small problem with my phone where, if the headphones are connected to the jack and 'respond to headset buttons' is selected, it will randomly change the track as if it thinks there is a button pushed, but my headphones have no buttons. I need to have 'respond to headset buttons' selected for when i use my SE MW600 BT headset instead of the jack. My suggestion is to have 'respond to headset buttons' AND 'respond to A2DP buttons' options if this is possible. Another is to be able to choose to wipe album art for an individual album and re-download if the art is wrong and maybe to choose from a list of the graphics to ensure the correct one. Last one is to have an auto-rescan feature which the user can select when, eg. every start, daily, weekly, monthly. Apologies if these are already implemented! Keep up the good work Max Dan.
