      Poweramp v3 Project Update   03/22/2017

As you may be aware, the Poweramp developer has been working hard on an updated material design user interface for Poweramp v3 which required a full ground-up rebuild of the code. It's not quite ready for open testing yet, and although he would like to be able to get it out by the end of the March it may just drop over into April. See forum thread for more details and to discuss.

  1. It's been said before but it's not mentioned on the build priority list although there are TONS of requests for it. I would GLADLY buy an addon app to add Android Auto support... Google Play SUCKS and Poweramp is the BEST player out there! Please +1 for Android Auto, from what I have read, integration is meant to be easy (relatively speaking) and thousands of cars are rolling out with Android Auto now
  2. I decided to go with Android and bought a new Galaxy S7 a few days ago. I have a large music library in iTunes but now I don't know how to move those music to Android, so that I can play then on Poweramp app. What is the right way to do that?
  3. Hi guys, First of all thanks for the best music player on the market at this moment. Simply after the andrioid 7 update on the HTC 10, the option for the Hi-Res output in the settings has disapeared. It is a huge shame, since I only started using it few days ago, after some time because when I used it about a month ago the app would crash after song changes. It started working fine just a little issue with the output latency of about 1300-2000 ms. I really hope that this is one of the things you'll start working on. I hope i can get the Hi-Res back since it's amazing, even in the experimental alpha build. Thanks All users of HTC 10
  4. Android Auto Playback

Bluetooth media features in current cars... well... suck. Android Auto is Google's and Android Open Handset Alliance's attempt to create the best experience for car infotainment systems without the features becoming a distraction to driving. With the advent of the Android Auto app on the Play Store yesterday, Google has released a documentation for audio playback: https://developer.android.com/training/auto/audio/index.html I think adding this to Poweramp would be a great addition. What do others think? I personally think the Android Auto (and Apple Carplay) are hugely underrated.
  5. Hi, I cannot diagnose why Poweramp is skipping/hiccuping/stuttering. I am using a Samsung Galaxy S4 and have tried it on stock Touchwiz 5.0.1 and 4.4.2, Poweramp 2.0.10 build 588 I am aware of the article http://support.powerampapp.com/knowledgebase/articles/323527-skips-hiccups-stutters And the results from trying to use this have are: Not an SD card issue (music plays perfectly in stock player) Not Bluetooth issues (using regular wired headphones) Not tweaked ROM (I use stock Touchwiz 4.4.2 and 5.0.1, unless Touchwiz is considered tweaked?) No additional 3rd party audio effects (Adapt Sound has never been touched/set up) No CPU hungry apps (Show CPU usage in developer options does not indicate high CPU usage and GSam battery monitor shows the highest battery usage being Android OS itself) No broken formats (skipping is not consistent with particular files) If you could please help me resolve this problem I would greatly appreciate it. I have reset my phone on stock 4.4.2 and 5.0.1 in attempts to resolve it.
  6. Right now, the only good app that can control Poweramp via Android Wear is this! https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.nefastudio.android.nfpoweramp_wear I think we need an official app! instead of paying for a separate one
  7. I have been having difficulty with my Android and Poweramp since this past Sunday. I discovered that whenever Poweramp attempts to scan the library, it gets stuck mid-scan, and ultimately the phone freezes and crashes, only to restart the phone and start the process all over again, resulting in a series of restarts and crashes. I was able to halt the auto-scanning. I tried deleting cache and data files. I tried unstalling and reinstalling both the Trial and Full Versions. If I don't do a scan of the library, Poweramp won't play any new downloaded files (which it needs to do). But at this point, I can't even get it to complete a scan because the scan gets stuck. At this point, I have a practically useless app. Help, please!
  8. Hi, It will be nice and awesome to have one. Cheers ! https://github.com/maxmpz/powerampapi/issues/5
  9. Hello guys. Im new here! First, I LOVE Poweramp! Best of all music player apps, seriously! So many great options and customizables. Its really cool! Instant buy for me! Would pay again! It even fixed my stupid turn off screen and sound problem. Sometimes when my screen went off, the music stopped too until I put it on again. Looks like it was some Sony Android Rom problem but there was a option in Tweaks to fix this lock. GREAT! Now only one problem remains for me. Sometimes, like around all 5 hours of playtime or something, the volume decreases to 50% and I get a popup with a warning about a Volume Warning and that listening to loud music can damage my ear... BLABLABLA, stop annoying me, and anyway, its not to loud on some of my headphones. This is really ANNOYING. Getting mad of it. There doesnt seem to be a inbuilt Sound option in Android to not show the warning or show it only once. Why? Seriously. Is Google really that dumb? They even seemed to inbuilt it deep into the Android system and without Rooting the device and use tools it doesnt seem to be possible to disable it. Why, for heavens sake? I dont want to root my device to disable or ignore this warning. Yes, I googled already for the problem but only found Rooting advises. I wanted to ask you if there is a way to disable/ignore it without rooting the phone. I have a Sony Xperia Z3 Compact, if the info is relevant. Actually I wonder that there is no such option in Poweramp or is there and I just didnt find it? Would be nice if you guys could enlighten me. If not, I would like to request a option to disable the Volume warning or at least ignore it in Poweramp. Thanks for all replies!
  10. Hello, I am looking for some help building a music play list. I want to be able to take my new Motorola Android phone on the beach, and play music on my new bluetooth speaker, without streaming (because I do not want to use my data allotment). I want it kept local. I need help building the playlist on my desktop computer. What I would like to do is convert all of my YouTube songs I have in a desktop file folder to mp3 files (I think I want mp3 format - I would take suggestions for other format - also, if anyone can suggest a YouTube converter that is decent, I would welcome that recommendation.) Once I have playlist built, I need help on converting that playlist on the desktop, over to the Motorola Android phone, where I intend to purchase Poweramp. Thanks a million for any help. - Mark
  11. Additional Metadata Options

I noticed that in the library menu, there was no option to sort songs by their year. Since the 'year' tag is defined for most MP3s, it would be a useful sorting option. Due to the lack of options in the meta display menu, I figured that the song's year, genre or track number tags could be offered as some of the options to display. For those of us who keep this option enabled, they would definitely add a small touch to the player UI. I've made some examples (using another skin): Year: Genre: Track:
  12. Poweramp not showing .m4a format?

Hi, Trialling Poweramp because it plays all formats. It's not playing all .m4a files but playing some! I uploaded all my music files into my new (Android) Asus Zenfone (onto the micro SD card as there is too much music to fit on the phone's internal memory) and I can confirm the files are all there (checked file manager on phone plus connected to computer with cable and checked in Windows Explorer). At first I thought the .m4a files weren't playing at all, but here's a weird thing - All the .m4s files were missing, but then when I turned my phone on a couple of days later and was searching through my music (to play the .mp3 files) I noticed one of the previously missing albums was showing, but when I clicked on it, it was only showing two songs not the whole album. Strange that two songs in .m4a format are showing up and yet the rest aren't????? Any suggestions appreciated!
  13. Poweramp not playing on Android Lollipop

I downloaded the new Android Lollipop for my Sony Xperia Z1. Since doing so I can launch the app, and the app runs, but when I hit play...no music. It says it's playing, but nothing comes out of the speakers. With or without headphones. Anything I can do to fix this, please? Cheers, Fluffyhayden
  14. Build Error (Ant, AndroidSDK)

Hello Guys, so... I've tried to create a custom theme for Poweramp and kinda failed at that in all ways... So far I got ant running, I got the Android SDK on my hard drive (I use it for normal android development also, and it works fine). I got thorugh the first steps of creating a custom theme from http://forum.powerampapp.com/index.php?/topic/3578-building-skins-quick-start-guide/ , but when I tried to compile it with ant (just the "ant" command) I get following error: Buildfile: E:\CODE\PowerampHoloMD\poweramp_skin_sdk\skin_template\build.xmlBUILD FAILEDE:\CODE\PowerampHoloMD\poweramp_skin_sdk\skin_template\build.xml:90: The following error occurred while executing this line:java.io.FileNotFoundException: C:\AndroidSDK (Zugriff verweigert // This means access denied) at java.io.FileInputStream.open0(Native Method) at java.io.FileInputStream.open(Unknown Source) at java.io.FileInputStream.<init>(Unknown Source) at org.apache.tools.ant.helper.ProjectHelper2.parse(ProjectHelper2.java:250) at org.apache.tools.ant.helper.ProjectHelper2.parse(ProjectHelper2.java:168) at org.apache.tools.ant.taskdefs.ImportTask.importResource(ImportTask.java:222) at org.apache.tools.ant.taskdefs.ImportTask.execute(ImportTask.java:163) at org.apache.tools.ant.UnknownElement.execute(UnknownElement.java:292) at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke0(Native Method) at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(Unknown Source) at sun.reflect.DelegatingMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(Unknown Source) at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Unknown Source) at org.apache.tools.ant.dispatch.DispatchUtils.execute(DispatchUtils.java:106) at org.apache.tools.ant.Task.perform(Task.java:348) at org.apache.tools.ant.Target.execute(Target.java:435) at org.apache.tools.ant.helper.ProjectHelper2.parse(ProjectHelper2.java:180) at org.apache.tools.ant.ProjectHelper.configureProject(ProjectHelper.java:93) at org.apache.tools.ant.Main.runBuild(Main.java:826) at org.apache.tools.ant.Main.startAnt(Main.java:235) at org.apache.tools.ant.launch.Launcher.run(Launcher.java:280) at org.apache.tools.ant.launch.Launcher.main(Launcher.java:109)Total time: 0 secondsso... as far as I understand I don't have the permissions in order to read or use the android SDK. I've tried to copy it to another folder, same result. Tried to set all permissions manually through folder properties, same result. Same with deactivating the antivirus... I'm pretty helpless with that and because of this special use case there are little to no help sources so I thought to post it here even though it's not directly a PA skin problem...
  15. Full android wear support

Hello. Wanted to say that there are some android wear functions missing that i would like to see. 1. When clicking play music the phone opens youtube instead of Poweramp? When google play music installed the play music app opens. Its a bug. 2.show album art on the watch screen separately from the lock screen. Right now the albumart works only if show album art on android lock screen is enabled, when i turn it off it also stops showing on the wearable. 3.fast forward and rewind when pressing and holding the next, previous buttons. 4. More screens by swiping left for settings like repeat and shuffle.. Would be great to see this functions in the next version.. Thanks
  16. Blue Tooth Problem

I just finished installing Poweramp and I love it. However, I have a problem. I can not get it to play through my car stereo system using Blue Tooth connectivity. I know the phone is connected to the system because I can send and receive calls. However, I cannot hear any music nor can I control the player functions. I am using a Galexy V (Samsung) tied to Sprint. The car is a 2012 Totota Rav 4. Can anyone help me figure out why I can't here the music or control the player? I looked in all of the settings (I think) and cannot find anything to change. Thanks. Jim
  17. Hi guys, bought a Samsung Galaxy Tab Lite, installed Power Amp and it does not check on SD-Card for music I have stored there (Samsung Micro-SD, works fine otherwise). I searched the Net and people talk about settings which on the Samsung Poweramp-Interface I cannot find. I tried moving Samsung to the SD-Card but that doesn't work either, it asked for the Power-Amp Widget Manager to be installed which I did but Power Amp does not seem to recognize it. So, how and where can I set Power Amp to scan and use the SD card for music? Or do I need to set the general music folder in the Samsung tablet settings? And how does the Widget manager come into play? Greets drumsMalta

  20. No Activity found to handle intent

Hi, Here is my setup: Poweramp version :: 2.0.9-build-555-play (full version)LG Nexus 4 :: USAAndroid 4.4.2Cyanogenmod 11 :: kernel 3.4.0-cyanogenmod-ga7e9448 ;; build01@cyanogenmod #1 ;; Sat May 3 01:43:39 PDT 2014When I try to play an mp3 audio file from DoggCatcher version 1.2.4060 I am unable to select Poweramp as a suitable media player. When I remove/disable all other mp3 capable apps, I get the following error: No Activity found to handle Intent { act=android.intent.action.VIEW dat = content://media/external/audio/media67556 typ = audio/mpeg } The DoggCatcher developer said the issue is within the android system and the media player registering as a valid intent handler for mp3s. I receive the same error from the Cyanogenmod File Manager. However, ES File Explorer correctly routes mp3s to Poweramp. Poweramp still launches, searches, and plays mp3s fine on its own. I have tried the remove and reinstall business but to no avail. Bummed out, selfjc
  21. Hi, I love this app but stop resetting the setting "Enable Android Lock Screen" to "yes" everytime there is an update via Google Play. Just stop. I don't want it. No, shush. Stop it. Thanks! PS: I bought your app twice, you owe me that.
  22. Hi! I have recently bought a Cowon Z2 and I am a novice with Android. For some reasons, the Cowon Z2 does not have the Android market application. And Google play does not recognise the device. That is why I have bought the Poweramp Full Version Unlocker directly on the website. Then, the unlocker was sent to me by e-mail. I have installed it on my music player (which is connected to Internet). But, the next day, the following message has appeared: "Impossibility to check the Poweramp licence" (...) "APM response - No valid google accounts." And I cannot access Poweramp anymore. When I click the "Help" button and write a message with my purchase number, all I get is : "No application can do that action." I really do not know what to do... and I am pretty desperate... Can somebody help me? Thank you in advance. Maxime
  23. Help with library

Hi, I am running the Poweramp android app and I'm having some trouble. At the minute I play music in the car by shuffling all songs, however having recently installed a game on my phone, the media library on Poweramp has automatically added the audio files from the game to this list. Is there any way I can easily remove all of these at once and also prevent something like this happening again? Any help would be much appreciated, Jonny
  24. I think this is the right place to post this I'm using the following code in my application: Intent playMediaIntent = new Intent(Intent.ACTION_VIEW); playMediaIntent.setFlags(Intent.FLAG_ACTIVITY_NEW_TASK); Uri data = Uri.parse("file://" + mediaURI); playMediaIntent.setDataAndType(data, "audio/mp3"); startActivity(playMediaIntent); When Poweramp is selected from the chooser, it starts to play the track for a split second and then pauses. Is this a bug, or is there something else I haven't spotted? Thanks in advance
