      Poweramp v3 Project Update   03/22/2017

As you may be aware, the Poweramp developer has been working hard on an updated material design user interface for Poweramp v3 which required a full ground-up rebuild of the code. It's not quite ready for open testing yet, and although he would like to be able to get it out by the end of the March it may just drop over into April. See forum thread for more details and to discuss.

  1. Now, when click on Folders icon next to a song title on bottom, a popup appears with the following items: Artist, Album, Folder. I suggest to add an option in player's "Settings" which would allow to go directly to Artists/Albums/Folders omitting the popup. I think, this option will be very useful for those guys who use most of time only one item from Artists, Albums and Folders.
  2. Hi guys, Some of you have noticed that your (cover.jpg) album art is not displayed while browsing your .cue based album files. The problem is that normally the tags within your music file (.m4a/.mp3/.flac) would be blank because that information is set within the .cue file. The trick to getting Poweramp to show your art is to edit your music file "Artist" and "Album" tags to match the tags within your .cue file. Once you do this, the cover art should be recognized while browsing your albums. Folder structure Music file tags (.m4a file, not the .cue) Cue file Note- The album art will show up only in "Library" view, not in "Folder" view. Another tip: If you place multiple disc albums into the same folder as I have above, go into "List Options" in "Artist Album Songs" / "Album" view and select "By filename" to prevent the CDs from mixing CD1 TRK 1, CD2 TRK 1 etc. If anyone tries this, let me know if it works for you or not.
  3. Okay, SO since I jumped ship from the itunes world in 2009 etc.. I've been on Android Poweramp, however I'm finding there is a recent library artwork problem. I added a new album which has maybe 50+ tracks, and all the artwork in the whole library/albums view of the whole player, all albums have been replaced by this one album's artwork. It seems to persist after a re-boot, after a cache clear and re-download etc. its a long V/A various artists album. I have prefer IN folder artwork checked , and when I play a specified track it still has the correct artwork on the player screen + and on the android 'desktop' player widget which is A++ okay. However, it's a drag to not be able to visually 'LOOK' through the albums, especially driving, because it all looks like its the same, one album now. Definitely a bug and potentially easy fix, id hope? Anyone Experience the same ?
  4. It would be nice to have an option that allows to skip duplicates of tracks in Library -> Albums. For example, I have an artist full album and a separate track from this album in some compilation. In this case, the track will be duplicated in the list of album tracks. > Music --> compilation ----> ArtistName - TrackTitle ----> another_track_0 ----> another_track_1 ----> ... --> ArtistName ----> AlbumTitle ------> 01. TrackTitle ------> 02. ... As a result: > Library --> Albums ----> AlbumTitle ------> TrackTitle ------> TrackTitle ------> ...
  5. Hello All my albums in the "Folder" view is showing up correctly, including the names of the albums, which I've edited before transfering over to my phone. However, in the "Library" view, I am missing a couple of albums and some album names are incorrect - they are showing up as the name before the editing. Troubleshooting I've done already (in these exact steps): - Removed all my music (from SD card) - Cleared the phone's cache - Cleared the data from the Poweramp app - Deleted the album art cache - Copied back my music back (to SD card) ==> All to no avail. Anyone else experienced this? Any solutions to this so that my Library matches the Folder? Thank you.
  6. I have my settings set to organize in List form by Artist. When in the Genre section, albums with the same title by different artists are comined together under a single "artist."
  7. I have many songs that are part of various albums such as the artist's album and a compilation album such as 'now!' or 'so fresh' which has ended up using quite a lot of space on my SD card. It would be good if on the edit tags screen there was an option to add multiple albums to a single track to save disk space. I realise this could pose a problem with album artwork but perhaps the artwork could be calculated by the other tracks in the play order or which album you pressed from the album screen? This has always been something that I've thought would be useful but now that I've swapped from Apple to android and have started using such a versatile software as Poweramp I figure this is the kind of program that would have this kind of innovative features.
  8. Hey guys, I love Poweramp, but I really miss the option to show all songs of an artist. When I want to have a list of all the songs of one artist, there should be the option "show all songs", as alternative to the albums. For example: I have 3 songs on my phone by artist x, but they are all from different albums. So when I want to listen to these three songs, I have to browse through the three albums, that annoys me so hard... Well sometimes I just feel like listening to one artist, not just to one specific album of an artist, so it would be simple to have the option to see all the album songs in one list together. Any other player software has that simple option "Show all songs" first above the albums Please add that feature, I don't want to have to switch to another player just because of that stupid feature... Thanks in advance! Greetings
  9. Multiple albums from one artist

I don't know if this is a bug or a feature, but certainly it is a changed behavior from previous version. In library view, when I chose to play all albums from one artist Poweramp used to play all songs from first album, than all songs from second etc. In version 2.0.1. it plays all the first songs from all albums from that artist, then all second songs etc. Even when I enqueue one artist I get queue with all first songs from all albums followed by second songs from all albums etc. All files are MP3 VBR with all tags defined correctly. The device is Huawei Ideos X5, stock Android 2.2.1.
  10. Frustrated grumpy old man over 50

Hi everyone i am new to Poweramp but when i add some albums Poweramp splits them and i cannot see why as i check them before i put them on phone samsung s3 and i have also tried to solve by using audio tagger which says the album and tracks are ok so i don't understand why they split even though they have same album art as well. Please can someone help as this is very frustrating i have benn trying to solve this for about 2 days
  11. I love Poweramp. I bought it long ago (not when it was on sale) and use it on a daily basis for hours on end. However, I have a couple small gripes... First off the bat, I often have problems regarding queued tracks and track that are currently playing. I've posted about this in the past but either it flies over most people's heads, or no one gives a toss. Hopefully I get some feedback this time. I like to queue up a good two or three hours worth of albums and then let it play while I work at my day job. Often I will browse for an artist in the Library, go into an album, and then select the first track, then it plays. The rest of the album is not queued per se, but will play following that first track. I don't know if this has a specific name, but I refer to it as Now Playing. My settings are such that I can go back into the Library and select more albums, long press them and queue them. The setting that allows this is in Settings > Advanced > Queue, and then Start Playing Queue is set to After Current List. Sometimes I will queue up albums without playing something first using the Now Playing method I mention at the start of this paragraph. Here's where I have a problem though, and I have a suggestion that would fix it. Sometimes I'll start playing something (like mentioned above with the Now Playing method) and then queue up more albums. I might come across a song I love, and want to go back and listen to it again. If I accidentally tap too far, beyond the first track of the Now Playing music, the Now Playing album is gone, and instead I am presented with the last entry of music in my Library, which is usually a band starting with Z. So I've accidentally navigated all the way to the very end of my Library and going forward brings me to the queued albums , but not the Now Playing album. I have to go back into my Library and play it again. Here's my suggestion: Instead of having a Now Playing method or mode, why not make everything that is played on the fly put into the queue? It's just like how Winamp works.
  12. Combine Albums

There's an issue I've been facing that is quit annoying. A couple of my albuns are split and I'm unable to combine then as one, as they should be. If someone would be able to help me on this, I'd be grateful. And a nice album combination feature would be most apreciated.
  13. How to manage singles (EPs)

I have several artists with single (EP) releases. I have created artist folders and within that artist album folders, of which one is a collection of all singles (a folder called "Single") I have with that artist. In the ID3 tag I have entered "Single" as the album. Now all singles of all artists are shown under the album "Singles". Is there a better way to do this so that the singles are just listed as separate albums or separate songs for a certain artist?
  14. Hi, this request, I believe, if accepted, will be added to the TODO list for 2.1 (or maybe a beta 3). I wonder if you'd consider making Poweramp neglect the articles or other introductory words preceding an artist or an album's name. I'm asking because the stock music player as well as other applications on different platforms (such as iTunes on Windows, or WMP itself) use this format. For instance: The Black Eyed Peas would appear along with the B's instead of the T's. Or 'The Eminem Show' would appear in the E's list instead of the T's list. Or 'A Little Bit Longer' would be listed with the L's. You get the idea. So, what do you think? Thanks, Huzefa
