      Poweramp v3 Project Update   04/24/2017

As you may be aware, the Poweramp developer has been working hard on an updated material design user interface for Poweramp v3 which required a full ground-up rebuild of the code and is taking some time to get to a beta-test stage. See the forum thread for more details and to discuss.

  1. Filter no longer works. I attempt to press filter and it automatically selects the first song in the all song listings instead of letting me filter. This is new within the past couple weeks or so. I run a samsung galaxy s5 with android 6.0 and my Poweramp build is 2.0.10-build-588-play (full version)
  2. From the filter results, where album covers are displayed, please add the option to open the full album content, not only the filtered songs. Thanks.
  3. The file/folder/library browser could be enhanced with the following: Keep the "Filter" bar on top of the screen always while scrolling down the list. It's annoying that whith a long list of files you have to endlessly scroll back to the top to get access to the filter bar. A more efficient way to select multiple files/folders. Currently you have to counter-intuitively enter the main menu and select "add to list" to start selecting multiple files. It could be done by: swiping a file/folder/name to the right (adding the '+' selection sign to it and starting multiple selection mode; swiping to the left removes the selection) and then following files/folders/names may be selected by just clicking them as it works today. Add a context menu (click and hold over a file/folder/name) item for "Multiple select". In Folder view: Filter files/folders should also act over folder paths (not just the file name). This way, if I want to select all folders for an artist, say "Lindsey Stirling", I may filter for "Lindsey" and then just play/queue/add-to-a-list them all at once, instead of having to browse for each and every album name and add it to a list one at a time. A way to easily export filtered files to m3u/pls playlists instead of having to post-edit lists exported from the Settings menu o by external apps like 'Playlist Backup'. Also, more tolerance in swipe down/up/right/left over album cover, which skips track/changes playlist.. I would expect the skip track function to be much more common (indeed it is) than the skip playlist, so the swiping angle may be much wider for left/right than it is for up/down (120° left/120°right vs. 60°up/60°down). This is especially relevant when using the Block screen option (and even a disable "cover swipe in Block screen" would be a better option imho).
  4. It is a little inconvenient when, after performing a search and scrolling through music, that I have to scroll to the top to get back to the search bar or do click on the three dots to get back to the search function. It would be nice if I could just swipe left to bring up the search box or go to a search screen and filter results, or do a new search. This way I don't have to aim for the three buttons or do a bunch of scrolling.
  5. Poweramp Version: 2.0.2 build-458 (Full version) Device: VZW HTC Thunderbolt Android Version: 2.3.4 Custom ROM: No. Just as the topic proclaims: the filter feature has not worked for me since I upgraded to version 2.0. The feature for searching works (the all encompassing search feature where I have the press the spyglass button on the phone), but the filter feature (accessed by touching underneath, say, a folder directory) shows me 0 displayed results on typing in anything at all, even a single letter. The old school version of the filter feature (which, if I recall, was accessed via the spyglass button) worked fine for me in 1.4. I find it hard to believe that this is a problem unique to me, but maybe it is. I really miss the filter feature; it was fantastic because I have several folders with 300+ songs in them and want to search within that folder without having to type in more letters than necessary while, say, driving. It may be worth noting that I'm sorting things within folders by file name title in Poweramp, but if I recall the feature still wasn't working even before I fiddled with those settings. Any help or bug fixes you can offer would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time. - C.J.
  6. Hi, I would like to request for the Filter button in the playlist to either be: a. moved up to to the top bar, or b. kept not scrolling along with the playlist. The problem is, with a long playlist, it's quite difficult to get back to the filter button from the bottom of the list. Here are screenshots for further explanation: Thank you very much for your consideration.
  7. I've recently bought this program and I was wondering is there's the possibility when filtering by artist to have instead of a list, a gallery like Albums with images of the artists. Thanks
  8. I would really like to see support for regular expressions in the filter for artists. It would be great to filter out artists according to more exact premises. The main reason is that I have a lot of loud music with growling and some classical stuff, and sometimes I want to add all my metal to a playlist and exclude the classical ones. To add the artists manually is just to much work ( ok so I am lazy ) when you have a lot of music. If implementing a regular expression library is too hard, maybe you can implement a negative filter? Thanks for an otherwise great product.
  9. Who actually uses the comment field in the ID3 tags of songs? Perhaps no one Who has at least once lost a playlist of theirs that they spent a lot of time and effort creating? Perhaps everyone Who would like to have a song permanently remember which playlist it was a part of? Certainly everyone This is what this feature intends to achieve, via "tags" i.e. comment boxes Message for Poweramp team: I have yet to get an outside opinion on this, but given how many people love categorizing and organizing their music, this feature may be ground-breaking. So it would be something to seriously consider. "Permanent Playlists" sounds attractive, and this concept is incredibly simple to implement. This is your entire music collection You type in a keyword such as "gym" and the list filters songs that have at least "gym" in its comment field You can add more keywords to make your list even more specific, this brings up songs that have "gym, crazy" in the comment field And the list can be made even more specific. Of course, the 3 results mean that there are only 3 songs with at least the following tags: gym, crazy, instrumental Comment fields are where these tags will be. These tags can be edited into the song by 1) via Poweramp itself (Max will need to enable comment field being edited. Will take a LONG while to tag your entire collection cause the tagging is one song at a time) Example: or 2) Using a software like MP3Tag on a computer or another ID3 editor app, and mass-tagging a bunch of songs' comment field. Example: (look at the left side comment box) Of course, there can be tons of other additions to this. The simplest edition: - All the Poweramp team/max needs to do is somehow make it able to search the comment field of a song. This can be enabled (so it doesn't interfere with normal searching) by first typing in [tags] (like in the picture) or [comment] or some other way/button. - Make each comment box of a song edit-able in the "Info/Tags" edit screen The best edition: The above two features... plus: - Comment filtering can be "Match only one tag," "Match any," "Match at least" etc - Songs can be multi-selected within Poweramp itself and then have one/two/ten tags apply to all of their comment fields The BEST part about this feature is it is permanent! Changing your phone/tablet/device? Factory resetting your phone? Categorizing your music into different folders? Transferring your music to another memory card? Changing the filename of a song? It won't matter! All your tags will still be saved permanently on the songs. Organize your music knowing you will never lose your "tags" i.e. playlists. Comments/Opinions/Questions/Criticism? PS: all images have been photoshopped to give an idea of the feature.
  10. Hi, I am using a COWON Z2 which doesn't have a Search button. Even long pressing the menu button doesn't work. It just opens the menu when I leave the button. I've tried holding it for long enough. It would be great if the filter button is visible even when you have scrolled down the list. Not just at the start of the list. It will be a big relief for me and make the interface much more intuitive. I love everything about this app except this.
