      Poweramp v3 Project Update   03/22/2017

As you may be aware, the Poweramp developer has been working hard on an updated material design user interface for Poweramp v3 which required a full ground-up rebuild of the code. It's not quite ready for open testing yet, and although he would like to be able to get it out by the end of the March it may just drop over into April. See forum thread for more details and to discuss.

  1. Currently you are able to associate "Bluetooth" with one of the stored equalizer presets. The current capability does not account for the need to have different equalizer settings for different bluetooth devices. In my case, I connect my device to six different bluetooth devices. There are other applications that are capable of detecting which bluetooth device is connected and customize the application settings based on that connected bluetooth device. A similar ability in Poweramp would be greatly appreciated. Also, it is not easy to temporarily suspend the preset association. For example if you have associated a given eq preset with the headphone jack, regardless of any manual eq preset selection, the associated preset will be reapplied in place of the manual selection as soon as the next music file is loaded. This feature is annoying and the ability to lock-in an override eq preset and then release it at some time in the future would be another plus. Thank-you, in advance, to all who take the time to read my post and comment. Cheers!
  2. I have Poweramp 2.0.10 build-588 (the latest version of Poweramp 2 available on Google Play) installed on my Moto G 2015 running stock Marshmallow (I believe fully updated as well). My bluetooth headset is an Audio Technica AT-PHA50BT (listed on their site as a bluetooth amp) with apt-x support, with the usual three-button playback setup (previous, play/pause, next). After my bluetooth headset is connected to my phone, music playback is ok, and of course I can control playback on my phone, but the bluetooth buttons are completely unresponsive — even play/pause doesn't work! Yet all three buttons work when I play music and video on Spotify and VLC. As sort of a last resort, I've tried resetting Poweramp entirely (going to Android system preferences -> apps and clearing the app's storage), but to no avail. I also have an Asus Zenwatch 2 (an Android Wear smartwatch) connected to my phone at all times, and music control (play/pause, previous, next, volume up/down) from the watch doesn't work as well, so I'm guessing it's an issue with the way Poweramp is communicating with Android's bluetooth A2DP service? I've tried resetting just about everything (headset, watch, Poweramp, everything short of a hard reset of the phone itself, although I don't see why I'd need to do that since I got it fresh just a few days ago), and playback controls still don't work at all. Please help. EDIT: I might add that my previous phone was a Sony Xperia Z3 Compact, which I had for about a year and a half, and bluetooth playback control used to work properly but suddenly just stopped working about three months ago, I have no idea why, but I never tried troubleshooting the problem. Also, I acquired my headset before I bought my smartwatch, and these two had no issue regarding playback control for about half a year, but suddenly bluetooth playback control both stopped working for no apparent reason (music still played ok through the headset, it's just that I have to pull out my phone to control anything)
  3. I have a LG v10 smart phone. When I played music with Poweramp, the music will sound static and crackling randomly. I have tried different bluetooth headphone, bluetooth speakers and car bluetooth amp. I still got the same issue. If I played music with wired headphone or with the cell phone speaker, this issue will go away. I also played music with internet radio, such as Calm radio and Radiotune, and connected with bluetooth speakers, bluetooth car amp, then the sound static and crackling will not happen. Clearly the Poweramp has the bluetooth sound quality issue. Please help me to fix this problem. Thank you.
  4. Bluetooth issues with Poweramp

I got a funny bug with my new 2017 Honda Ridgeline. When I start up my car, my cell phone will auto connect into car's bluetooth. My car will continue play music though bluetooth. Then the funny thing happen. Poweramp play the music, but not with the car's speakers. It play though phone's speaker. I had look around for the reason, but nothing help. I try rest the phone's bluetooth and unpair then repair. I haven't try different music play yet, cuz I use Poweramp as my main music player, so I will try some day later. Just wonder anyone have this problem? Or it just happen with HTC 10? PS : Any other function works with bluetooth, just something wrong with playing music.
  5. my bluetooth earphone buttons dont respond to Poweramp but it responds to the stock music player... i can pause and play, skip and go to previous tracks with my bt earphones but only on the stock player... when i play tracks using the Poweramp, buttons do nothing... cant pause or skip tracks... what do you think is the problem? the respond to buttons in the settings are checked and high priority is checked but the bt earphone buttons still doesn't work... any idea to fix this?
  6. It would be great if bluetooth can be automatically turned on when i start Poweramp and also turn it off, when i close Poweramp. This feature is great for use in car in combination with bluetooth. Ive seen this feature in other apps.
  7. Hi, I use Poweramp in my car, connected in AUX through bluetooth device Anker SoundSync drive. The BT deveice has 3 buttons: next/prev/pause. When connected the buttons are working fine for a while and after that first stops working prev/next, and after short time pause/play also stops working. This is driving me crazy and disapoints me, althought the Poweramp is a great app. Th peoblem is in the Poweramp, because the default music player is working fine with my BT device. Are you aware of the problem and is there a reliable solution for resolving it? My phone is Huawei P8lite with Android 6.0.1
  8. Phone: Blackview BV6000 Android: 6.0 Poweramp: 2.0.10 build 588 Bluetooth Headset: Plantronics M90 Hi, The pause / resume button does not work on my Bluetooth headset properly with Poweramp. They do work when I can see the Poweramp screen i.e. before the phone screen times out and goes black. After it goes black though, the pause button does nothing. The pause button does work properly with a wired headset and does work with my Bluetooth headset on the stock music player that came with the phone, but not with Poweramp. The setting has of course been selected to "Respond To Buttons", but only does so for a minute before the screen times out and goes black. Note: The phone does use a lock screen, but there is no passcode needed when the bluetooth headset is connected. Thanks, Paul
  9. Powerbeats2 control problems

Just started having a number of issues with Poweramp and my Powerbeats2 Bluetooth headset: 1) Often, not able to advance to next track 2) Now, all the time, after three times advancing, headset switches to another music app - like Google Music - Poweramp becomes inoperative from headset. Note this is not a bluetooth problem - everything works with the bluetooth in my Ford Explorer.
  10. Now I'm using Poweramp V3 with aptx-HD(Bluetooth) output like below. "Smartphone (aptx-HD is activated) -> Astell&Kern AK XB10 aptx-HD Receiver -> AUX -> Car (Audi A6)" But I cannot understand how to set HI-res output setting in my case. Setting -> Audio Engine -> Output -> Hi-Res Output (Experimental) and then there is only two kinds output option (Wired Headset/AUX and USB DAC) and I cannot find Bluetooth option. Please let me know how can I use Hi-Res Output through aptx-HD(Bluetooth)
  11. Please add rewind-forward functionality for long-pressed previous/next buttons. I'm using DIY bluetooth media remote control on my bicycle, it does have 5 buttons, which I use as play/vol-/vol+/prev/next. I wish I could rewind and forward tracks by holding prev/next buttons.
  12. UHQ for non UHQ devices?

Guys can you add the option of upscalling of bluetooth audio (96 khz/24 bit ) for non UHQ devices? Thanks
  13. Hello Folks, i've been using Poweramp for quite a while now, and props to the mighty devs, you did a very good job! So my suggestion : There are more and more small boomboxes on the market, same with bt-headphones and so on. Recently i really have to switch my EQ-Settings pretty often, depending on what devices i connect to. It would be a great feature, if one could set different EQ-Profiles for different BT-devices. example : Profile 1 : Sonos Play : little boost in the upper bass, little boost for the treble Profile 2 : Wireless Headset, a little bit of boost for the midrange Profile 3 : Home stereo, smooth EQ. Would be a fckin great feature to see in further developed versions of Poweramp! Best Regards, Lukas
  14. Apologies if this has already been raised, but a search came up with nothing. I've had this issue for the last few builds, but only just got around to taking screenshots and posting. Not every time, but often when my phone connects to my Alpine car stereo and Poweramp opens (opened automatically by Trigger), I get an 'Unlocker installation is broken' error (first screenshot). When I follow the instructions to reinstall I ALWAYS then get a package installer error (second screenshot). Anyone else getting this?
  15. I. The Essentials Poweramp version and build number: 2.0.10-build-588-play (Full Version) Your device model: Samsung S7 Edge (SM-G935P) Your Android version: 6.0.1 Your Custom ROM name/version (if you're on custom ROM): N/A Tried catlog, but it cannot read any logs other than its own as it cannot become root, so this is all I have. II. The problem The BT in my car does not seem to be receiving metadata. Samsung's Music Player sends this info across fine, but Poweramp is, to me, far superior in terms of UI and sound (Samsung's EQ, for example, is subtractive, not additive). This is a relatively new phone (a month or so), so I'm kind of reluctant to (try to) root the thing at the moment... Summary: Sounds fantastic, I'm very happy to have the album art back, but the lack of transfer is mystifying and irritating...
  16. I recently upgraded to an S7 and put all my music on my new phone (old was an S5.) I used Poweramp premium on both phones and I listen to my music primarily in my car via bluetooth. When I had my S5, the tag info would pop up on my 2014 Civic's display. With my S7, it shows no info. When I play songs in google play the tags show up but not when using Poweramp. Does anyone know how to fix this issues? Thanks
  17. When the sleep timer is set, is it possible to have an option for user to select to turn off BT as well.
  18. A key feature of bluetooth audio is the ability for multiple apps to be able to output audio. Such as when you have your music player stream via bluetooth, and a navigation app (like Google Maps) speaking turn by turn directions. As some folks have laws requiring hands free usage in cars, this is a significant Bluetooth bug. In the recent past, about 2 months ago, this feature was broken by an upgrade to Poweramp I believe. The issue started when I had Android 4.4.4. I now have Android 5.1.1 and it persists. Now when I use both Poweramp and Google Maps Navigation, The music will go silent but no sound is played by Google Maps Navigation. Since this issue does not occur if you use any other media player, it is clear that the issue lies with Poweramp. Device info: Nexus 5 OS: 5.1.1 stock (issue seen since 4.4.4 stock) Bluetooth connection to car radio (stable since setup in December 2014) Poweramp application installed and setup with bluetooth output (any version released in the past couple of months, including the current as of June 18 2015) Any navigation application that has the ability to output sound over bluetooth, such as Google Maps or Waze. Issue: Poweramp prevents other apps from playing sound via Bluetooth audio. This previously worked fine. (early 2015) Workaround/ Temp Fix: Do not use Poweramp as your music player. Google Play Music and Amazon Music both work fine. Test cases: Works: 1. Open Google Maps Navigation and configure to play audio via bluetooth 2. Open Google Play Music and configure to play audio via bluetooth 3. Play music via Google Play Music. 4. Start navigation via Google Maps. 5. Notice that audio successfully switches between the 2 apps, and you can hear audio from both apps successfully over bluetooth. Fails: 1. Open Google Maps Navigation and configure to play audio via bluetooth 2. Open Poweramp and configure to play audio via bluetooth 3. Play music via Poweramp. 4. Start navigation via Google Maps. 5. Notice that audio fails to play the audio for the navigation app, instead you hear a gap in sound from the music player app. You cannot hear audio from both apps successfully over bluetooth. Suspected issue: Poweramp does not relinquish access for other apps to play sound. Perhaps Poweramp forces the sound to be "nothing", instead of relinquishing control.
  19. Hi guys, I am using Poweramp for a long time now and I recently bought a new car. When using bluetooth i can get PA to respond to the pause button, but when I press the next or previous buttons it just pauses instead of going to another song. I tried it with other music players and there is no problem with them, this annoying bug only happends with PA. Can it be fixed? Thanks!
  20. Android 6.0

I have a samsung note 4 running 6.0,marshmallow and the Poweramp app constantly shuts off within seconds of connecting to bluetooth. Only way to have Poweramp play is to manually restart. Becoming a pain. I have Poweramp locker have been using for 4+ years. Please fix.
Application).
  22. Hi Folks: Whenever I start my vehicle, and the BT connects to my phone, Poweramp fires up and starts playing, even if Bluetooth is not selected and I'm listening to the radio. This would not be desired behaviour cause it's a) using battery power and b - making me miss good songs in the rotation. Also it throws notifications on my Android watch about all the songs I'm not listening to. I would like to be able to only have the app play when I press play. "resume on bluetooth" is not selected, nor is "resume on wired headset". Version build 588 (full version) Android 6, May 2016 updates installed. Nexus 6p Any suggestions?
  23. Apparently, the new engine has a lower output gain (compared to 2.x or my Huawei stock music player) - trying to even up using EQ or replay gain / glo al playback gain leads to clipping. Tested using Huawei P8 Lite and Bluetooth headphones 'sound intone BT-06' Alpha v703
  24. when ever I connect any Bluetooth device , the next and previous buttons do not work, they used to work. when I play music through the Samsung music app through Bluetooth, there buttons work, so the problem odd with Poweramp, Can any one help
  25. pweramp version: 2.1.10-build-588-play Device: galaxy s6 When I´m using Poweramp with my bluetooth headphones it doesn´t recognise the cotroll (start/ stop/ next song/ previous song) but they do work on the default stock music from samsung.
