  1. Hello Poweramp Community, I hope this message finds you all in good spirits. I'd like to contribute an idea that I believe could take Poweramp's capabilities to the next level. As an enthusiastic user of Poweramp and a devoted music lover, I've been thoroughly impressed by the app's features and customization options. I want to express my appreciation for the incredible work done by the Poweramp team in creating a top-tier music player app. The level of personalization and functionality has transformed my music listening experience, especially considering my collection of over 2,000 MP3 files. Following my initial email and the team's suggestion to discuss this idea on the forum, I felt this platform would be the ideal place to share my concept. While Poweramp's proficiency in recognizing and displaying album cover artwork is commendable, I have been contemplating the potential for an advanced audio file tagging solution that could harness a similar technology. After further reflection, I believe that developing a plugin for Poweramp might be a more practical and integrated approach compared to a standalone app. Here's my refined proposal: A plugin, available as a paid extension for the Poweramp music player, designed to provide an elevated audio file tagging experience. This plugin would leverage the existing innovative technology within Poweramp to automatically complete and refine missing metadata within audio files. It would be capable of intelligently identifying artist names, album titles, track numbers, and more, essentially revolutionizing how we manage and organize our music libraries. Furthermore, I envision this plugin encompassing comprehensive editing features, allowing for the enhancement of the entire audio file. This holistic approach would ensure that when I transfer songs to my computer, the files would be impeccably named and the metadata correctly tagged. This seamless integration would result in a more efficient and streamlined experience for users like me who are dedicated to maintaining organized music collections. As someone who is genuinely committed to supporting Poweramp, having invested in the Poweramp unlocker, I am more than willing to extend my support to this plugin if it were to be developed. I am confident that the Poweramp team's expertise and dedication to delivering excellence could transform this vision into reality. The introduction of such a plugin would not only elevate the music experience for enthusiasts like myself but also underscore Poweramp's commitment to enhancing our musical journeys. I want to express my gratitude for considering my suggestion. I eagerly anticipate any insights, thoughts, or feedback from both the community and the Poweramp team. Warm regards
  2. I lost my downloaded album art and edited info/tag of files every time I reinstall Poweramp. Please add an option to embed the edited info/tag and downloaded album art to the music file itself.
  3. Tags / Metadata Metadata is extra information about a song, stored as hidden computer-readable data within an audio file. This is independent of the filename or folder location - the data is stored inside the file as individual embedded 'tags'. Some tags are technical specs such as encoding methods and duration, while others contain things like the Title of each song or are used organise your music into various categories for easier viewing and access - such as Albums, Artists, Genres, Years, etc. Some commonly used tags are: Song Title [TIT2 / TITLE] Artist [TPE1 / ARTIST] Album Title [TALB / ALBUM] Album Artist [TPE2 / ALBUMARTIST, or sometimes ALBUM ARTIST] Genre [TCON / GENRE] Track Number [TRCK / TRACKNUMBER] Disc Number for multi-disc sets [TPOS / DISCNUMBER] Year [TYER / DATE] Composer [TCOM / COMPOSER] Lyrics [USLT / LYRICS] Synchronised Lyrics [ SYLT / - ] Note: rarely used, timecoded lyrics are often encoded within the regular Lyrics tag Comment (not used by Poweramp, but can be displayed) [COMM / COMMENT] Length (ms) [TLEN] Replay Gain [TXXX:REPLAYGAIN_**** / REPLAYGAIN_****] Album Cover (image) [APIC / METADATA_BLOCK_PICTURE] You can view any tags contained within a song file by long-pressing on the song title in a library list, or long-pressing on the cover artwork in the player screen, and selecting 'Info/Tags'. You can also edit some tags by then tapping 'Edit Tags'. For more in-depth editing, or changing groups of file contents at the same time, it would be better to utilise a full-featured batch tagging program such as TagScanner or MP3Tag on a PC, or AutoTagger on Android. Technical note: MP3 files usually use the ID3 tagging format (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ID3) while FLAC files use the Vorbis system (see https://www.xiph.org/vorbis/doc/v-comment.html). Both methods contain broadly the same information but encoded slightly differently, as annotated above - and in more detail in https://wiki.hydrogenaud.io/index.php?title=Tag_Mapping. APE is another, slightly less common, tagging method. Poweramp can read and use any of these tagging systems. Completely untagged files, or files where for some reason the tags cannot be read by the scanner, will be displayed using their filenames only, and you will need to organise them by their folder locations. What tags are needed to group a number of songs into one 'Album' An 'album' is merely a notional grouping of any songs within the Library that have the exact same Album and Album Artist tags - but which may still have different Artist tags. Should Album Artist tags be missing, Poweramp will fall back to trying to group songs into albums based on the Album and Artist tags instead - but often with mixed levels of success, as Artist names can vary track-by-track - such as featured artists, duets, compilations, etc. In these cases, it is vital that Album Artist tags are correctly assigned, using a common term such as "Various Artists", to ensure all the songs remain together. It's actually a good idea to always include an Album Artist tag anyway, even if the content happens to be the same as the track Artist.Poweramp will try to infer some other properties for an 'album' - such as the Year and Genre - but these concepts are based solely on looking at the constituent songs and picking a value from them. If those tags are not consistent throughout - e.g. if each track in a compilation album has a different Year value - then the overall value chosen may not be predictable. Multiple instances of one tag type - e.g. several Artists for one song From build 899 onward, Poweramp can separate and sort songs using multiple names - e.g. "Under Pressure" could be listed as being by "David Bowie ; Queen" and it would be shown in the Artist listing for David Bowie and also for Queen. This feature can be used for Artists, Album Artists, Composers, and Genres (e.g. a genre could be listed as "New Wave ; Electronic ; New Romantic"). You can even define your own symbols or words to be used as separators via PA Settings > Library > Scanner, but semicolon ";" , slash "/" or double-slash "//" are common ones. It's a good idea to avoid using commas or ampersands though, because of band names like "Earth, Wind & Fire", "Emerson, Lake & Palmer", etc. You can also specify certain phrases that you never want to be split - e.g. "AC/DC". If you don't wish to use this feature, simply leave the relevant options blank.
  4. Hello, I'd like to ask for a problem fix. I have couple of albums that have the same name and Poweramp seems to not differ them well. For example, Saxon's "Sacrifice" was released in 2013 (that's what metadata in audio files says) and Motörhead's "Sacrifice" was released in 1995. However, when looking at both bands' catalogues in "Artist" category, Motörhead's album appears way later than it should've been (I'm using release date order), and both album share the same covers. It also happens to different artists (Halford's/Venom's "Resurrection" for example). Is that something the app's creator could look into?
  5. I have under Settings -> Library -> Lists, Show Track Number in the meta - relevant categories and Show Disc enabled. For any vinyl rips in my collection, I've decided upon using the disc metadata for vinyl side A, B, C, etc., and track # metadata for the track order on that disc/side. For example, when viewing track #2 from disc #3's metadata line I see: ♪ 2/3 | 4:13 | flac | 24 bit Would it not be possible to give the disc metadata its own icon? This is somewhat unclear visually. Is it track 2 of 3? Is it track 2 disc 3? Is it track 3 disc 2? Even when I change my settings to Show Track Number as Separate number - relevant categories, the disc metadata shown in the line is still granted a ♪ (8th note, grace note, whatever you want to call it) which IMHO is not appropriate for indicating a "disc". There are unicode characters for an optical disc, such as that shown here (1F5B8) If this was used, the example metadata line would be like: ♪ 2 | 🖸 3 | 4:13 | flac | 24 bit Which more clearly indicates all I need to know, without confusion.
  6. Is there anyway yall could add producer tags in metadata? I've been using the composer tag to substitute but just wondering if it's possible to have a producer tag in Metadata in the future.
